I moved to Lisbon from London. Here's how that turned out | Digital Nomad Diaries

At the start of April I quit my job in London, packed all of my things into storage and booked a one way ticket out of the country. After 3 weeks in Montreal for the eclipse I moved from London to Lisbon, how did that turn out? It was probably one of the best things I've ever done. The best things in life don't last though 🙊 After leaving London without a plan, I now have one - at least a half-baked one. Here goes nothing!

Hi! My name is Lashan, and I moved 16000km away from my home in Sydney Australia to try and make a life in my favourite city in the whole world - Montreal, Canada. After that didn't work out, I moved to London, right before good old 2020 happened. After 5 years there and being stuck in a corporate job in a life trajectory I really didn't want, I threw my whole life up into the air, again, quit my job, put everything into storage and left the country. The goal is to find a career in what I'm most passionate about - making video, production, social media, and not compromising on what I want in life. Life is too short for that. Wow, this video was so good. Thank you for making it and uploading it. I love Portugal even though I haven't been there, I have heard so much good things about this country and I really want to visit there too one day. I also believe you so much when you say that food is delicious there and people are more spontaneous. I am like that too, and I love slow life too. I also love the fact that you are moving to France. I was there about a month ago and stayed in the suburbs (2 hours by train) of Paris. It was so magical. We stayed at a Chateau for 4 nights celebrating my friend's wedding ceremony. The Chateau was located in a very isolated village in west France near the city called Rennes. Loved it so much. It was so peaceful. I even spoke to some local people who live in those small villages and they told me how expensive it is to live there. You basically have to have a monthly income of 3500 euros on average to live there. So, pretty expensive. And about Paris, yes, very expensive too. When I spoke to the Uber driver, he told me that you need to be making about 3500 euros to live in Paris too. So, no matter where you live in France, Paris or a small town, it is going to be expensive and you have to be prepared for that. I mean it is France and it is beautiful and it is absolutely worth the money you spend there. Totally worth it. I LOVE FRANCE as well as PORTUGAL. :) About me: I am moving to Montreal in August. Also very expensive but it is more affordable than Toronto. Also, I hope to learn French there and hopefully, that will help me a lot in life in general. The language itself is so sweet and beautiful, isn't it? Love it. Anyway, have a nice time in Paris. I love it there, love the cute streets with little restaurants with delicious food. Enjoy your time there. :)

One of my favourite cities in the world 😊 It helped a lot, since he had a life here already and was able to connect me with people as well as get me random freelance work since we're in the same industry :)

So you are moving to a city with the same terrible climate of London, but with hostile people and shittier salaries with overpriced places. Good luck honestly 😂 you will miss London !

Not in a million years 🤣 The climate is better with more blue sky days, and rents might be pricey but they're still cheaper than London. "Hostile people" sounds more like projection lol

@@LashanR it’s honestly the same climate, if anything it rains more in Paris and it’s way colder in winter. Rents are expensive for what you will get paid in Paris and the job market is terrible especially if you are not French, London is very welcome to foreigners.
