why I moved to a rural area - (and how I made it work for me)
I know that I could build a healthy and happy life in many places, whether I am alone or married - living rural or in the city (or somewhere in between). However, due to work opportunities I ended up in this little wild valley. After settling in, I discovered that the environment suited me. I have learned a lot and continue to surprise myself in the process. I could take these skills and apply them somewhere else if I moved away, so I thought I'd share what my experience has been like, and hopefully hear your stories as well!

This is beautiful, involving your two sons. We exposed our two daughters to the same types of things even before KZbin was "invented" and today they are both grown women with so much empathy for others, for animals, for the earth, and they are both so creative because they were given the space and opportunity when they were young to learn to appreciate what's important. You bring so much light, magic and inspiration to the world. Your videos always move me and bring me to that little untouched part of my soul. No one else can do that. I moved to the city three years ago after living ten years in the country side, also for a job opportunity. I have missed my woods, my trees and birds and my quiet every single day I moved here. As funny as it might sound, I sometimes even miss the discomfort of the cold I had there during winter. And how at times because of storms I would lose electricity for a few hours and would have to force myself to read or do something in the silence. I now live a very comfortable, safe and financially stable life, something I never had before. I am truly grateful for everything I do have now, but there's this emptiness inside of me that keeps wanting me to go back to the woods and the silence. Your videos fill that emptiness even if temporarily...bless you, for you represent such a profound way of living

You are speaking from my heart. All my life society and its noise and fastness and means to be perfect has put me down. It was ao exhausting trying to a part of this that I finally got ill. Since three years I'm recovering. I left the city and live in a small village now. I have learned that I need a lot of silence to be by myself and to be creative with writing. I am self-employed today to take the time I need. There's still a lot to learn, and I say thank you to you, because since a while your videos accompany my way and help me to accept who I am, and I am good this way. 🙏❤️

I love the feeling of peace and quiet that the snow brings. It shuts out all other sounds, leaving you with that silence that seems to make you contemplate life. The only sounds are the wind blowing gently through the trees, the sound of your breath, and the crunch beneath your feet. It really is a magical time. I love winter so very much. I love how it forces you to slow down and rest, because that is what the earth is doing. I love how we naturally adapt to the different rhythms of each season. Everything in nature is connected, and we are a part of that nature. Thank you for another lovely video. I celebrated my birthday by watching some of my favorite videos of yours. I love your videos so much -- they're so calming and restorative. The world has gone so upside-down in the last couple of years, it's just so lovely to have a YT channel that emphasizes what's beautiful and good about the world. I don't know if this will help anyone, but at the beginning you said you had been tested for a lot of things and got no diagnosis. Women and girls with ADHD often present very differently from boys/men and often do not get an ADHD diagnosis or get misdiagnosed with something else (depression, anxiety, "shyness", etc). What you described sounded very much to me like ADHD in women. And while that very well may not be your case, it may be true for some other listeners. I encourage women who are highly sensitive and feel out-of-sync with the rest of the world to google "ADHD in women" and even "autism in women". I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until a couple of years ago at age 57, and I just think how much stress, feelings of failure and a negative self-image I could have been spared if, even in my 20s or 30s someone had suggested I could have ADHD, and that it shows up differently in most women. I am so grateful my adult son recognized he is neurodiverse (was spotted by a therapist), and that he helped me in my journey to diagnosis.

@@AJ-ce7xu No, you can't "heal" or "cure" ADHD. There is a physical difference in the brain of people who have ADHD. That's like saying you can make it so that someone with brown eyes can change their actual iris color to blue by eating certain foods. You can make the symptoms of ADHD improve, but it's not going to go away. Nothing wrong with eating healthy, or taking meds or doing therapy. All those things can help ADHD people function better. But yeah, at this point in time, it's not curable.

This video, and your channel in general, is so comforting to me. As I am autistic, I have often felt out of place for much of my life due to my need for quiet and calm living. I completely relate to your love of learning and experiencing new things, but having the need for a quiet little life to come back to afterwards. Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts, as you help many of us feel safe and comfortable with who we are

I have been living in a way similar to this for the last 3 1/2 years because I've been healing from a brain injury. I have to try to protect myself the best I can from the pandemic, and other stressors. My life has slowed down to where I can notice the different species of birds and how they pair up and which ones come and go throughout the year. It has been absolutely beautiful. I have definitely become so intertwined with my dog, earth & sky. I feel as though if I were to stand still outside, like a tree, my feet would become rooted into the earth below. It's that profound. It has been such a great silver lining. I am so grateful for being able to live this way as long as necessary.

Hello Paola, Your thing with the pillow in the closet is definitely something I'm going to try. I leave in a city in France for my studies, and it is quiet hard sometimes because all I've always known is small villages where people knows each other and where it is quiet. I found that interesting you shared some "tips" to cope with feelings of overwelming, it will be very helpful for me at least! Enjoy the snow :)

Such stunning scenery. I too remember as a child daydreaming and find it sad we are told to stop as children as it’s not what society wants us to be. Only once you grow up does it come back to us, remembering who we truly are. Thank you ❤

I live in Australia and I am stealing myself from opening it to start reading it as I am getting married in two weeks and am saving it to read on my honeymoon in those quiet moments… Thank you for bringing inner calm and peace to my life and so many others. Much love, Francesca xox💐🥰🌻🎄

You and I have much in common. I was born and raised in a large town but always longed for a life in the country. I thought that life on a farm would be wonderful but I wasn't looking at all the hard work! I've never lived on a farm but I've lived in increasingly small places. currently I am living just outside of a very teeny village in western Washington state. This is my dream place! I'm very sad that I will be moving to a very large metropolitan area in a couple of months. I will miss my "Little House on the Big Words." But I will have your channel (and a few others) to bless me with pictures of your beautiful space. Thank you so much

Such a lovely video! Thank you for sharing. I am a highly sensitive person too and would love to live in a rural area, but cannot afford it. As is probably the case with most people watching this video, so it is such a wonderful treat to see your beautiful countryside. Wishing you a magical winter break. ❄️

Many Europeans live and work in the city during the week and go to their country cottages on the weekends. That's a wonderful solution for them, as they alternate spending time earning their living and time reconnecting with the earth --- and themselves. Thank you for another lovely video!!

We feel the chilly weather at night and early each morning. It’s welcomed here in the west, where snow falls in the upper San Juan mountains a lot these fall days? but not here in this college town! 🤎..🌿...🌤Thank you for the beautiful photos of where you are living in rural America... wherever that may be. (Take time to be. Breathe first and let that be good enough.) ☀️🌻My only son and I met this afternoon for a while. It was for his shower here since he lives at his business I. His camper truck. And, his haircut, he did himself in the small apartment bathroom here in town. He just got my groceries today. It’s gratitude- big time ..since my own ...recovery from a nasty stomach flu situation -which landed me in the hospital for 4 days, recently. Yup. 💠💙Be of good cheer. Thank you from southern Colorado USA!! 💟..💜..☮️☕️

Paola, you are very lucky to be living in such a wonderful fairyland! I love country living too, although my husband and I are currently trying out life in a city apartment. We both love the area (Lake Superior), but I miss having my own house. I would love to live in a little cottage in the woods! The crafts you were working on in this video are so pretty!
