HORSE SHOE NAILS: in forestry we put them on the end of a DIAMETER TAPE. We stick the end of the tape into tree bark. We walk or pass the tape around the tree at the 4.5' level and measure the diameter. We always want the tree diameter. AND you can do exactly the same with a SPENCER logging tape. Stick the tape'S nail in the end of the log bark and measure out your 16' or 32' log. Cut there. And if you are a good planner you have the Spencer tape with diameter on one side and feet on the other side. (Feet are usually feet and tenths on these tapes. A full log is usually an actual 16.5' or 32.5' .) Prudence suggests having a few spare horse shoe nails, which Cody does!

You use horseshoe nails for nailing horseshoes onto horses feet ☺ That's what they are designed for. If you need to use any kinda nail to hold the end of a loggers tape then you've got the wrong loggers tape. Should be a couple of spikes on a loggers tape that you skelp in with back of your axe then twist it back out with the sharp edges of the axe. No need for nails, that's a lazy way so you don't need to walk back and undo the spike on the end of the tape. Oh it's much quicker just to shake the tape.... You still need to pull the nail back out same as the spike!!!

I have to laugh. Just went through this 3 days ago. At work the boss insisted we get new toolboxes because he couldn't find something. We got them and he "organized" every thing last weekend. Wednesday I had to change the seals in the front hubs of a mfwd tractor. I had to spend 4 hours going both toolboxes moving things to proper drawers just so I can find things. He also took to the work bench which had a carb tore apart and soaking, which he "cleaned" into oblivion. He is now banned from the shop.

like many youtubers, I have found that all the cans of paint, lube, WD40, etc. are best stored on a wall-mounted storage made only for these cans. Not only does it free up the shelf space, but it eliminates having some cans hidden behind the cans in front, so no more wasting time searching and moving cans around looking for something hiding behind something else. Just my two cents...

I'm the inverse case to adam savage - stuff in drawers is kept safe, while stuff left out gets buried or knocked out of sight or otherwise misplaced. It's more likely I'll toss things on open surfaces and don't really have a junk drawer. But with a drawer I don't forget where and what is in there, so they don't "go there to die" - in fact since the drawer is always in view, it's not out of sight and thus not out of mind. Something piled on a shelf behind other objects, or even in a cabinet where I can't see everything at a glance... much more likely to have items hide on me. Plus I need that space efficiency as I don't have much. There's loads of organization styles that depend heavily on how a person thinks, and their workspace requirements. Some people place a tool at every machine to adjust it, others make a tool kit they keep with them for it or use adjustable tools on their belt or apron. Thank you for showing your own take, and how that suits your needs. Stuff like tool carts are often dismissed, and the chainsaw organizer can be applied to to other tools or even things like rags.

Brake spring tool. When I started out "turning wrenches" motorcycles had drum brakes front & rear. Most cars/trucks had drum brakes on all 4..Brake shoes had riveted linings.
