It hurts so much to see Jinx at every opportunity rejecting the concept that others could be accepting of her. Here in this episode, and especially in the next episode. (As I'm sure you've seen)

Not really? She was confused for a moment for obvious reasons, but the moment everyone quietly thanked her for saving them was the moment she realized that the Undercity accepted her for who she was. Sudden or not, this was the end of that insecurity, and it never showed up in the next episode.

GREAT reaction! Loving watching these and great work getting them out! It is great to hear your opinions on the characters you love, I am also a massive Sevika fan (legit, if she gets added to League, I may actually end up playing it)! On Ambessa, it will be interesting to see if your take on her changes going forward, as your thoughts on the torture scene of the zaunite is one I haven't heard before! But that is the great thing about Arcane - there are a billion different takes of every single character! Every episode from here on out is amazing!!

Re: Cait, I don't think you're completely off base, but what I think you might be discounting is the effect of time dilation. Her rage is fading at this point, and she's stuck behind the sunk cost fallacy. They've already done so much, it can't be for nothing. She can't quit without at least catching Jinx. Also, from the other end of things, you have Ambessa egging her on, not so subtly manipulating her in hopes of escalating the conflict to the point where she can co-opt Hextech for her fight against the Black Rose. Every time Caitlyn flags in her fight, she has both Ambessa and her own guilt to goad her into continuing.
@smileyhappyface58642 күн бұрын
I still don't understand the "Ambessa was manipulating her" standpoint. Until the next episode, Caitlyn showed no signs of respecting or caring about Ambessa's role in this fight and made every choice specifically without her involvement, and vice versa. She says something about "learning a lot from her" in this episode, but being taught how to fight doesn't equate to being taught WHO to fight. SPOILERS: And even when Caitlyn DID start respecting her, it was still fairly impersonal, with the only emotional connection being Ambessa seeming to genuinely see Caitlyn as a pseudo-daughter until she betrayed her for Vi.
@Maldraek2 күн бұрын
SPOILERS: @smileyhappyface5864 I think Caitlyn did mostly see Ambessa for what she was, but she still let her railroad the situation into full on lockdown and oppression. She didn't do that on her own. It's heavily implied that most of the actual aggression and force of the occupation was supplied or at least directed by the Noxans. In her private conversations, Ambessa even states somewhat casually that they had "taken over this backwater." Cait certainly played her part, but it was Ambessa "oinking poison in her ear" and using the Kirraman authority to shadow her own ambitions that allowed things to go as long and become as dark as they did. Again,a lot of this is implied, due to the time jump, but in true Arcane fashion, if you read between the lines, the story is there, and is never as black and white as it could seem.

its so nice how you've noticed so many small details that other commentators/reactors often overlook also, (not a spoiler) if you haven't already finished the series, almost every episode's intro has a small difference that slightly foreshadows the episodes which are nice to look out for

In the outro you mentioned the music for both the Warwick battle as well as the moment where the Jinxers touch Jinx's shoulder -- did you notice it was the same theme? Both are variations of The Bridge theme, which is used all over both seasons (mostly in relation to JInx because it's the melody Powder sang in the season 1 cold open). Obviously the Warwick variation was much more chaotic and dissonant but it's still the same theme.

I liked the outro, good insights, but I would have liked to see the raw emotions of your original rant. At least a cut version of it. However, this show is so emotionally taxing that I totally get it! 30:40 I feel that Caitlyn is beginning to show remorse for the actions she has taken to track down Jinx. Maybe this is a turning point for her

Alright, aaaalright, ALRIGHT. First of all, it's kinda hard focusing on the story when you're so dang charming. Just sayin. Secondly, you're going about this the right way when summarizing your thoughts in the end instead of talking too much in between scenes as so many do. Thirdly, hurply, derply, I love you acknowledging the music and how it enforces the emotional depth in scenes, the soundtrack for this show truly is something else; can't wait to see you experience what's to come in that regard. Also, you're very observant in what characters say and how it relates to their persona and development. Good stuff. Keep on keeping on

While there is some parallel to Silco (obviously) I think it was maybe meant to be more of a parallel to Vander. Silco (while I truly believe he cared about Jinx) was also manipulating her and pushing her to being the destructive force we think of as "Jinx". I don't see Jinx doing any of that with Isha, if anything Jinx seems to not WANT to push any of that baggage on to Isha. But Isha idolizes Jinx to such a degree that she adopts what she sees as the best and most admirable characteristics of Jinx's personality. This episode is so incredibly important to Jinx's development as a character because we see how fractured and broken she is. Her conversation with Silco's chair is so devastating. I think its lost on many people (but not obviously on you), especially probably more so people my age, that Jinx is still a kid. I think she's what? 19? Something like that at this point. Her and Vi have been through tragedy after tragedy and its taken an incredible toll on both of them. When she thinks she "lost" Isha again we see her delicately repaired psyche start to break again. All of it portrayed with such beautiful animation. This show is just so good with how it tackles and portrays trauma and people trying to cope with said trauma. Definitely not an easy watch, I know more than a few people who quit after Season 1 episode 3 because it was too much for them. Some people want shows where you can turn your brain off and just enjoy. Which is fair I suppose. But not me, If its not authentic and doesn't make feel something, I struggle to understand why I should bother. That is what makes this show so great. While I suspect it would have been a little hilarious to watch the original outro, I definitely think you should take the time to process this stuff, its not an "easy" watch. It is a rewarding one though!
@caitsfirsttake4 күн бұрын
yeah, I like how Jinx isn't pushing things onto Isha (like Silco having Jinx make the weapon).. she is literally a big sister to Isha and it's so sad and cute. I loved watching all the scenes with them because it's really wholesome and like she said she never really got to do this with Vi... it makes me SICK. All of these characters have been through so much and I love the way they portray mental illness and trauma because a lot of media fuck it up. This show can be triggering to some people so I completely understand why some drop the show... I personally love the complexity of everything and it really makes you think. about the outro, it was horrendous, but I definitely needed to think about what to say and take in this episode
