Well done, I already knew the result of the match, but I have just seen the footage. Don't look back at its 20'20' vision, you played it right at time. You are right about the boats, many years ago, I fished the Shroppy for the first time many years ago, it was clear overgrown, and no boats and the fishing was hard. If the boats go through slowly there is no problem. Keep them coming

I've always found a couple of bait box lids in the keepnet discourage fish from trying to jump out. Cracking net of fish.

Superb video as usual, not blowing smoke up your arse Dave but these are among the best on KZbin. Little trick Benny Ashurst taught me many years ago was to throw a bait tub with the lid still on in your keepnet to stop fish trying to jump out.
@davebrownfishing
@davebrownfishing 2 жыл бұрын
I've done that in the past mate. Last year i had a carp clear the rim of the net, that was atleast 2 rings clear of the water at Meadowlands. I had a bait tub in the net that day and it never made a difference! Cost me that did as well😔

Great angling Dave, I watch all your canal fishing vlogs, don't know how you seem to avoid the signal red crayfish, as my local canal is full of them, don't know if there is any tips on how you can lesen the chance of hooking them, even if you shallow up they still grab the hookbait.
@davebrownfishing
@davebrownfishing 2 жыл бұрын
Tbh mate there's no real issues with crayfish on the canals i fish in the midlands. Did fish a few canals down south on nationals a few years back and there were lots of crayfish about on them! What i was told to do if i caught one was to crush it and drop it back under your net. Apparently this attracts any others in your peg and keeps them away from where you're fishing. Not sure if it works but got to be worth a try mate🤷‍♂️
@stevenash6685
@stevenash6685 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply Dave, I'll try that, also someone told me if yo pot some catfood in close to where your fishing that attracts them to that spot rather than the spot you are fishing,, I'll try both Dave see how I get on, all the best and keep on baggin.

Great video thanks. Just one question Dave do you ever feed a near Bank line to drop on when the boats pass.
@davebrownfishing
@davebrownfishing Жыл бұрын
Sometimes I'll feed an inside line and catch a few early doors but once a few boats have gone through the inside is usually done!

ive noticed that yoi dont lay the rig out on the long pole this is most important bait presentation
@davebrownfishing
@davebrownfishing 2 жыл бұрын
I lay it in in all directions a lot of the time, mostly dependent on flow. I'll also drop the rig in straight at times as laying a rig out can be ineffective especially if there are a few fish in he peg as a layed out rig can foulhook fish!

You mentioned some elastics. What did you use on your track line and squatt/ pinkie across lines please
@davebrownfishing
@davebrownfishing 2 жыл бұрын
99% of my canal elastics are original Preston slip For squatt fishing i use 2&3 2s for shallow water and really small fish. 3s for down the shelves or better stamp fish. For standard track fishing with worm and caster, i use doubled up no.6 i use it doubled as i believe it is harsh enough to drive the hook home in to the bony mouth of a perch but then is supple enough to play most fish without bumping them. I'll use single 4s through a top 2 for running a maggot over the squatt line, searching for skimmers.

when u take the sections apart are all poles able to be srperated like that or only certain poles
@davebrownfishing
@davebrownfishing 2 жыл бұрын
Most poles come apart like that. There are some cheap telescopic poles out there but they are not really fishable at any longer lengths.
@krisconway2884

@@davebrownfishing oh ok. iv got a 5 metre pole and didnt realise it can come apart like that i thought u had to push it back down i didnt realise u could just twist it to make it come apart.

I'd imagine that your pole, only being 5 metres, will be telescopic Kris.
