Hi Harri, good morning from Australia. Robert Smith is a softly spoken chap, he's a great person, kind and humble. All of their film clips are fantastic, the song 'Close to me' is filmed inside a wooden wardrobe which falls of a cliff into the water. You will never be disappointed by any of their songs or clips just brilliant

Great song by a great band, who managed to make pure Pop songs and wonderfully dark Goth music and still keep their fans happy, check out “A Forest” by The Cure it’s a masterpiece

Robert Smith is one of those people that fascinate me to absolutely no end. In some of his interviews and TV appearances he comes across as someone who's pretty anxious but I love how he thinks and how he talks he's just great to listen to even outside his music. Unique and brilliant to the very end.

Thank you for this Harri. I am a lifelong Cure fan and so few people do reactions to them. If they do, it's always the same 2 or 3 songs, and I'm like, guys, there are so many songs, so much variety. I've waited forever for someone to do Love Cats, and I love you all the more for it.

Love Cats? Then you will love Love Cats! "Hand in hand is the only way to land and always the right way round". Love The Cure, all of their stuff. Pure miserable joy!

Don’t let the whimsical baseline and jazzy overtones deceive you this song actually has quite a dark meaning and Robert Smith wanted to write a song which seems like a pop song but still have a dark message hidden init. From an interview with Robert Smith The idea for Lovecats came from Aristocats. I knew all the words by heart, I even bought the film, and I was completely obsessed… In fact this song is not about cats but about a suicide pact between two lovers. Hence the text ‘into the sea, you and me…’ My idea of a lovesong.’ Robert Smith on ‘lovecats’

Not surprised..i did think that part was really dark..why i read out the lyrics

@@HarriBestReactions I think regardless of what people say about the cure Robert Smith will always be a punk so when he writes songs that seem happy they are probably actually quite dark.

They based the song on the cat jazz piano scene in the French cellar in Aristicats.

I love the Cure, and I love Robert Smith. Every song. This song isn’t of their usual style, more jazzy and lighthearted, but I love it. Some folks say it’s about a suicide pact but I see nothing to verify this. Different fans have different ideas. No clue from Robert Smith except supposed he had done acid. This from Wikipedia: “Real cats were supposed to be used but after proving to be troublesome, taxidermied ones were used in the place of cats. Smith said of the video: "'The Love Cats' is far from being my favourite song: composed drunk, video filmed drunk, promotion made drunk. It was a joke." The video features an early rough mix of the song.

Less than 8 months prior to this song being released, they released Pornography. One of the darkest albums ever released. Lovecats was a shock to fans at the time.

The Cure has beeng around for ages indeed: since 1978 in fact :-) There is a dark explanation of this song as some people told. The story I know is little morel lighthearted. They were pressured to write a more easily accessible song and so they wrote a whimsical song which proved to be popular. It is always possible to read a ton into certain sentences, but if it is true.... Either way, I find it a very enjoyable song with a fun line and lyrics. They have well over 200 songs to pick from and, being totally unbiased, very enjoyable. His own voice can be heard in this interview in which he is not very subtle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqDYd6ifjtd4n5I If you like old school bass lines, you might like 7th Heaven from Angelina Jordan: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH6bda2Dh8ecf8U

I love The Cure. Not sure if this is the first time you react to them. One of my favorites by them is "Just like Heaven" but they have lots of great unique songs. Love the new Tears For Fears song "The Tipping Point". And not sure if you've reacted to any of the new Duran Duran songs. I like "Invisible", "Future Past". Lots of great songs on their new album.

Nice reaction 👍 I think its very interesting that they came up with this piece of music after they published the album "Pornography". Darker than Pornography is not possible so maybe this was the only way. Very interesting. I suggested or better, wished a reaction to "Cold" under your last Cure reaction (Just like heaven). The difference between the two songs is just astonishing.

Every song with "cat" in their name should have a good bass line, just like Stray Cats Strut or Tommy The Cat. Since you're really enjoying the piano in this song, I really would like you to react to an equally quirky French song from the same era by Charlélie Couture : Le loup dans la bergerie (The wolf in the sheepfold). kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJmcc554nKhniMk And here's a Robert Smith interview from 1988 : kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaGqinyKrquYqck

It’s actually about suicide if you believe it or not robert Smith said himself in an interview that this song was originally going to be called “into the sea” And it was about two lovers who are basically sign on the suicide pact to jump off Beachy head in East Sussex.
