@@Mary-ev4ms just so cool to see people’s initial reactions, no matter who they are, why types of music they listen to, they are blown away. What an incredible band to see at 13!!! Amazing. I saw them live in a small theatre about 15 yrs ago. They would do these select “small venue” shows before going on world tours. It was absolutely unreal. I’ve seen a LOT of shows (my first concert was Eric Clapton at age 12, 1986) and I can’t pick a favourite because they were so many that were amazing for different reasons, but as a professional musician, this was a hands down the most incredible show I’ve seen.

11:50 - Tool and King Crimson are both great for wild rhythms.
@primateinterfacetechnologi62206 ай бұрын
Indeed yes, that is a true statement. In fact, Tool has derived their phased, polymeter type of structure, the rhythmic structure that is one of the cornerstones of their sound, directly from King Crimson... The '80s stuff, perfect examples being "frame by frame", "elephant talk" etc. I'm sure you can see just what I mean as you are familiar with both bands. This info is not speculation... it is what Maynard said during a concert that I was at, where King Crimson opened up for them... so I'm pretty sure we can take it at face value. Actually he didn't say "derived"... he said- "... we've been ripping them off for years..." Thousands of stoned people laughed... it was a great time, to understate it quite a bit. Peace and love.
