I had a Cougar 2 Race, and it had plastic drive shafts, plastic eccentric bearing housings in the gear box and bushed steering. The Team had roller drive shafts, alloy eccentric housings and bearings in the steering (if you Google "schumacher cougar 2 race" you can find a link to a Radio Race Car magazine article on the Cougar 2, which lists these differences. If yours has plastic drive shafts (it does), plastic eccentric housings (can't see in the video) and bushed steering (which you suggest) then yours is a Race and not a Team. As for the slipper cover missing a part... no, mine was like that - a black plastic cover that you had to drill/hack through to allow the adjustment nut to stick out. Mine didn't come with anything to cover the hole. It was a great car... and a massive step up from my previous Tamiya Boomerang!

I was told by the owner it was a Team as he removed the metal driveshafts for a works project car he was restoring.

I’m looking forward to watching this one. I’ve recently been digging my old Schumacher gear out of the loft with the intention of breathing new life into them. I was a bit of a Schumacher fan back in the day. So far I’ve found my Topcat, Procat, Storm Truck, various Cougars (including a team model with the roller driveshafts etc) and a team Bosscat. This could get expensive!

you can spray the chassis yourself if you are up to it, i used Mettalic RED that almost looked the same and i bought it at a Car parts shop, i took the chassis with me and verified with different kind of red coulours and it looked like 80 to 90% the same.

Had a Cougar 2 works as a kid so regret selling it along with my Cougar 2000. Managed to get a Cougar 2000 again about 10 years ago but still long for my works! Another car I'd love back is my Tamiya Toyota Celica, I think Tamiya are re releasing that soon i saw on your channel, I actually messaged my friends dad you id gifted it to as a child as I was moving on to 2wd racing buggy's and he said there's still a box of my matesnstuff in the garage, love to be reunited with it, thoughbthebshell was a bit beat up lol.

Nice one! Cool to see how it evolved from the original. I wouldn’t redo the chassis. Just get a Cougar classic chassis and paint it in the right colour. Taking away the patina would just make it so much less original.

I had the TEAM version and restored to almost perfection and i had many many parts, parts are now very expensive and hard to find, like the metal roller driveshafts, the disc wheels , have not seen them on ebay for a while , good luck and will be a nice project, The works is with a purple chassis and purple gearbox plates if i'm wright and with the special shocks ( Fluorine coated??) if you want pictures of the car then send an email or let me know...

Can I have some advise...I'm restoring a tamiya ranger...but I'm using a Bigfoot black plastic body...I'm painting it as per the original box art....now my question is which may seem dim but....would you clear lacquer the body before or after applying decals....??

the cougar wing mounts was the same between the 2 cougars. there may have been a hydra drive slipper clutch for it or the cougar 2000

Isn't that chassis anodized? If it is, I would have it properly re-anodized. It will look much nicer than paint. You may want to even look into anodizing yourself. It's not too hard to do once you get the equipment set up.

Interesting, to me your car is all wrong 🤔 I would say you have a late cougar 2 or something someone put together trying to build a cougar 2. I would say your gear box is that of a cougar with just a slipper, missing metal drives shafts is a bit of a giveaway.

No the metal driveshafts had been removed by the owner before donating it to the channel as he was doing a shelf queen restoration. The springs are wrong as these had been swapped out as well.

Depends on how much you like nitro really? £100 for a good quality Tamiya nitro isn't bad so I don't think you will get upside down in it too much if its in good shape like you say.

RCKICKS Please please help. I got my Kids the Crawler course from Toyswd that you reviewed a few weeks ago. However the Mat i received is a lot smaller than what you reviewed. The new Mat is only 70cm x 200cm not 100cm be 200cm like yours. I contacted ToysWD only to be told they changed it so they could put it in the box instead of a tube to reduce shipping costs. Please can you call these guys out, because i feel ripped off.
