I Found This While Clearing The Deep Woods.
Today I started clearing the woods around our homestead to make way for a new 5 acre lot for future animals and I stumbled upon a strange rock formation that has something living inside of it.

I was a farm girl and I always told everybody that I was going back to my grandmothers farm, but it took me 50 years to get back home.when I get to special place I was too old to do anything by myself. Just an idea, but the path where your waterline is. If you put a fence line on each side of it, and just keep a mowed path between the fences, then you'll always know exactly where your waterline is way into the future.

Just a thought while you have your new water line still visible why not put water faucets every 75 to 100 feet that way if you need them later you will not have to dig to find the water line to add them. Love everything you are doing on the Homestead

Dutch, if you want a good way to provide water that stays clean for your chickens and less work for you in not having to clean out water trays. You should look into "chicken water cups." You have a 5 gallon bucket with lid set up with all these cups screwed into it and it provides water on demand to the chickens and so their water stays clean.

When you buy fruit trees. DO NOT buy them at Walmart or Lowe’s. Find a good orchard/ nursery to get them. Far better quality of trees.

He will have to build some high fences or the deer will eat all of his fruit. The deer even broke our apple trees down to the ground trying to get the fruit off of them. Our neighbor told us they were going home and pick their peaches off of the trees in their yard. They went home and when they went out to pick their peaches they were all gone. The deer had gotten them in the night or that morning.

Get your soil tested so you can amend it for your orchard. I’m putting a new one in my field which is 7 ph and blueberries and blackberries need a much lower ph level. It took quite awhile at our old place.

My dad had a peice of property years ago he worked on for a few months, thing is when he got ready to build he hired a guy with a dozer and what it had taken a couple of months to do the dozer did in about 2 hours. You cannot beat heavy equipment when doing projects like these ... I Love to see these machines work...

Since you are planting an orchard you should get you some bee hives too so they can help pollinate the trees. Plus all the honey you can keep!!

It takes time with an LGD however it is not a mistake. I have been around these dogs an they are worth more to your animals then you know. It’s important to get them in with the animals it is supposed to guard and raise them together , it’s important because you don’t want them eating what they are to protect. They are great animals and give you love and support in many ways.

Chicken/Duck water. If you hang it or put it on a small platform so its up just comfortable for them to drink it will eleminate a lot of the dirt.

It's the duck. They get their beck dirty an wash it in the drinking water. Also when they get older the males tail curls. God bless you and yours
