Have them sign a model release or charge them. If they refuse both, don’t send the photos

Photographers need to remember everything they shoot isn’t just for them…. I have zero issue when clients ask me to not share their pictures.

The best thing I’ve seen about this is put it in your contract. That way they can decide if they still want to work with you. People have a right to privacy, but you also have the choice not to work with them.

As a beginner photographer i would suggest to other beginners to rent out gear. Starting off we don’t all have the funds to buy new gear so renting has been great for me especially when testing gear id like to purchase.

Hey there, thank you for this episode. I connected with the over-shooter. You said it's slimy to sell photos. I had a package for a client for a 30min session that came with 10 edited photos and then anything more would be $x amount per extra photo. She ended up wanting all the photos, so I suggested we go with the larger package since we went over 30min anyway and that package comes with all. She didn't want that package and didn't want to pay the $x amount per photo, so she ended up sticking to the 10. Is it still slimy in this type of situation to be charging per extra photo or would it be better to not budge on the package? Because I was honestly not sure what would be the most professional because I am new to all of this. Pricing is so hard for me!

Totally messed up! While the clients are wrong, she needs to take responsibility for being unprepared. I'd make sure to have them sign a model release before sending any photos. That way, if they want to make demands, you can too 😊

It’s disappointing, but she has to respect the bride and groom’s wishes to not use the images if she didn’t get their permission beforehand. It stinks, but they are in the right.
