I agree cause in a real Broadway show, the singer being tossed like that would have repercussions on the quality of the singing voice, and that's something no director would let happen.

I think it says plenty about the quality of McPhee’s singing that they couldn’t even use her voice for a complete cover of a song Hilty had already performed. They cut back to the original performance multiple times - which had none of the choreo or costumes but still so much more quality.
