I was a waiter and I never judged solo diners negatively. It was opposite feeling. I was so happy to see people go and eat a meal alone. It gave me a good feeling to serve them the food and drinks they wanted to eat.

That’s really nice. I travel solo a bit for work and there are fancy restaurants here in the US that won’t seat a solo diner!

I'm from merida and i've watched your videos for years!! I'm so happy you enjoyed your time here. As a local let me tell you that you hit the right places for food! The soup you had for dinner is Sopa de lima, it is a lime soup, but it's not the lime we all know, it's a special lime from this region and it's not so sour. The little strips on top were tostadas (deep fryed tortilla) Also the marquesitas is a snack we all love here, the traditional way to eat is just the waffle with cheese (the cheese is also a specific one called queso de bola) but nowadays it's pretty popular eating it with nutella

For me, travelling alone is the absolute best! I pretty much wouldn't have it any other way. I don't go to restaurants that often, (because I have a slight obsession with super markets and enjoy cooking for myself) but I always find it such a pleasure dining alone. There's something about tucking in, paying full attention to what I'm eating and the whole experience that is so enjoyable on my own. I recommend it!

I love Mexican cuisine I’d love to try it authentically but I’d be so worried about meat free/veggie options and if there is alternatives
@alejajm1666Ай бұрын
Big cities and tourist hubs will have plenty of meat free options. Traditionally we do have some vegetarian versions of things, I just wouldn't get anything with refried beans because they might be cooked in lard; also expect your food to be quite hot because that's how we make up for the lack of meat
@stimmtschon3195Ай бұрын
7 year plant based girl here: have been to Mexico twice travelling around and found it incredibly easy 😊 although some (few) menus may not have veggie options most restaurants are happy to just prepare something for you without hesitating a second. Since mexican cuisine is so versatile it is super easy to opt for meat alternatives e.g. simply substituting meat by beans , adding veggies ,....
@KarlieafАй бұрын
We have a ton of dishes that are based on veggies and the meat could be an add on, so you should be able to find food pretty easily.

As a mexican, I can say it depends where u eat, but most of the locals places are safety, but if u are really special for the place where u eat,I will just avoid the "mercados" not bc their not safety, they are just more messy with all the people around like the one in the video haha

Hey, so I know from some video of yours that you have anxiety and depression and I used to have anxiety too but now I don't anymore and that is because of Jesus Christ and if you call on his name and search for him you will find peace. I also never felt satisfied with anything in my life and I now know that a relationship with Jesus satisfied me truly and now I have so much joy that only Jesus Christ can give. And now I am free from anxiety and depression. So I hope this will reach you and some other people out there in the world. Psalms 94:19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

@SrToby_Ай бұрын
Well, you couldn't be more wrong about everything. First of all, she's Welsh, not indian, just because someone's not white doesn't mean they're not from an English speaking country. Second, what do you think she did? Obligate locals to learn English so she could be more comfortable? It's obvious that she used a translator, although, and third, it wouldn't have mattered because where she stayed it's a very touristy place, so some of the places, shops and restaurants in Yucatán have employees who can understand and speak English without a problem.
