Zine is definitively a shortening of the word magazine (or, shortening of the portmanteau ‘fanzine’). I think they basically started out as handmade miniature magazines. Lot of indie artists and writers used to make them. People actually used to spell it with an apostrophe (‘zine) to show it was an abbreviated form of the word.

I’m on team zine=“zeen”. It’s a shortened version of magazine. Also remember that there are some words that are spelled similarly with different pronunciations (for example: tough, cough, and dough all sound different from each other). All those art supplies look fun!

When in doubt, consult Harvey Danger: "I wanna publish 'zines, And rage against machines, I wanna pierce my tongue, it doesn't hurt it feels fine..." As a Gen-Xer who was in high school during the heyday of every independent little zine project in the early 90s, I can say with all certainty that, yes, it's pronounced ZEEN.

As someone who was alive in the hippie era, the 80's and all of those times before the interweb made publishing ones ideas, obsessions, and loves so easy, it is pronounced zeen. A once upon a time edgy way to say magazine. Feel free to call it whatever you like for the sake of cuteness. But trust me, Chloe Rose, it is zeen. Love you, even if you want to pronounce it wrong. ;)

Fun fact, Sakura Gelly Roll pens fit beautifully in the Cricut. They don't "click in" the way cricut pens do so I usually place a popsicle stick under it when I push it in and push it until the the tip barely touched the stick and that tends to be the right height.

I have been saying that for ages. I have even said if it needs to be a part 2 I would watch it! That is the best part IMO. But, I think she is worried the algorithm won't like it or not show her videos if they are longer.
@mcrowcreations2 жыл бұрын
@@carveylover I get that for sure, but there are plenty of artists on KZbin using these same kits and making the algorithm work. If your subscribers are here for art, bought brushes in support of her ART, why would you not take the opportunity to say “I used blank amount of products from 9 boxes” I mean that could be a really cool video - but like you pointed out there’s not been a part two using the products. She could draw nothing but bears each time at least it would be art. Edit: I have not purchased any of her products, but I know many others did in support of an artist.
@mcrowcreations2 жыл бұрын
@@silverhoney6969 exactly there are multiple options. I wanted to point our drawing wiff waffles does unboxing videos, they are not all her content but she does unbox a few she’s subscribed to, and after she unboxes the products she takes the prompt from the set or one of the items in the set and makes a character or art piece. Unboxing all of this took hours to film, no doubt, why not separate so you can actually have time to show the products? Keep the video short, but it would keep the audience that’s been around & would help stop this “joke” of her account only being an unboxing channel. Frankly at this point it doesn’t seem like a joke.

I think the name debate comes from the fact that on its own it might be Zine (ine sound) but it does originate from the word magazine hence the -een pronunciation. (we learned a bit about it in one of my English classes and 'zine' came from the fact it was a small pamphlet that was distributed with either a few or single artist/writers originally as opposed to the previous 'magazine' with multiple if not dozens of people in a larger collection; though recent art zines are a bit of an in-between for the original zine and magazines formats) Kinda like gif being gif vs jif (gif is majorly the accepted one from what ive seen, even though the person who created it said it was jif, because the acrynom comes from "graphic" so the g sound is kept)
@truckerdave84652 жыл бұрын
I’m old enough that I remember the 80s-90s photocopied zines and we for sure called it zeene - as in the end of with word magazine. A lot of them had themes like riot grrl culture, or feminism topics and such.

I did about 7 months of a few boxes to figure out what painting type I liked. I found out that I love watercolor the most, with gouache next. When I looked at my art I have in my house, I realized that I should have tried watercolor 20 years ago, because all of my art is watercolor...it was an "ok, you're dumb" moment...but now I love the heck out of painting, when previously I felt uninspired... I credit the art boxes for helping me find it! Also, its just fun to get presents every month...
