@@dogethefox9294 I wouldn't put it in the same category at all. It's kind of more like a kid friendly Emily Wants To Play. You have different chapters that have different areas where you have to sneak around avoiding classic Goosebumps enemies and figure out puzzles but not get caught.

I can't be surprised as I vividly remember and have the game/case still, where my grandma took me to GameStop for my birthday as a kid and let me choose 2 games, one of which was Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, and inside the case and tag was just the first Pokemon Ranger and I had been entirely confused by the instructions on the back of the box 😅

I wasn't aware that Bibi and Tina are not a thing outside of german speaking countries. In germany it's one of the biggest series of Audio books for kids. I've listened to their stories as a kid. And theres tons of merch for it, including better games 😀

That’s exactly what GameStop does. A lot of people who buy cartridge games don’t keep the cases, they just carry them in multi game carrying cases. So when they sell the game to GameStop there is no case to go along with it.

They don't reduce the selling price enough though. I think not having the case/manual (not all games come with manuals these days, I mean if they do) should reduce the price by about 40%.

The problem isn't that GameStop sells games without cases. Obviously, sometimes people trade in their games without the case, or the case is damaged beyond recognition. Being able to buy just the cart or the cart with a generic case is completely understandable. The issue comes in when GameStop doesn't tell you what you're buying. If you go to buy a used game, there's no indication whatsoever whether it will have the case or not, and no way to request (as Wood suggested) "if a case isn't available, cancel the order". What you get seems to be entirely down to luck. There's also the additional wrinkle that used games in generic cases should probably be cheaper than those in the original cases.

The ones without the box art is because a lot of people will sell in their old games without cases. This happens a lot for DS and Switch. They even have a format for printing on those generic covers when we have to repackage them for the store. Another thing that happened when I worked at Gamestop, they were phasing out PS2 at the time and it was policy to usually toss the game case and just put them in yellow sleeves to save on space.

I HATE THAT 😭 I had the whole .hack// and .hack//G.U. series, the COLLECTORS with boxart, and WANT IT AGAIN. Everyone who tells me its available elsewhere... I KNOW. I bought the games on Steam already because I love the game and hopefully it will be as good on PC as it was on PS2... but I don't have the Collectors edition cases with the boxart that lines up to make a Grunty!! 😤

I ordered a Pokemon Platinum on GameStop and they sent me a reproduction. Surprisingly it's a pretty common occurrence when it comes to older Pokemon games. I heard from somewhere that about 50% of the pokémon platinums that they send out are reproductions and most of the real copies have their game cartridge label torn or very scuffed.

As a German I love Bibi Blocksberg 😂😂 but the games have always been horrible. Bibi Blocksberg originally is an audio drama about a young witch created in the 1980s that is still running. There are 140 episodes with new episodes being released every few months. There is also a TV show and many movies. Bibi and Tina is like the HORSE spin-off..... with many bad games nobody ever liked.

Bibi & Tina is a German audiobook series aimed at little girls (Kindergarden/elementary school level). It originally started as Bibi Blocksberg (an audio book series about a little witch) but seemingly ended up as a series about living on a horse farm. My sister had a bunch of these on cassette when she was little. I am actually surprised that there is an English localization for that game.

I worked at Gamestop for 4 years (many years ago) and the reason you get the "fake" cases is because some people throw their cases away, don't take care of them or a combination. Why you wouldn't take care of those is beyond me. I still remember some dude coming in with a CD binder of ps3 games, and laying them with the read side ON THE COUNTER, and cringing at the fact that anyone would do that. We had to turn the trade away due to a recent theft from one of the other stores. I was so thankful I didn't have to make all of those cases!

Former GameStop ASM here. All online orders are fulfilled by stores usually so you get what they have as far as cases go. No warehouse where the can try to hunt a case. At my store we would try to use old promo case art if we still had it so there was at least something other than the printed bland cover.

At least you got some cases. I ordered 10 switch games for my kids last Christmas. What I received would be a ziplock bag with a bunch of carts. I was like damn you didn’t even have a used case for ANY of them. Gave them one more chance and bought 30 Xbox 360 games. Ended up with most of the cases. Too bad my order was “lost” and I didn’t get them for over a month with my 2 day shipping. Had to contact them twice. Needless to say, no more ordering from them. Better luck and prices on eBay of all places.

I bought a new copy of Balan Wonderworld, and will be keeping it in the shrink wrap indefinitely. Given its poor sales, interesting history, and the comical unlikelihood of a physical reprint, I think it might end up as a bit of a rare-ish collectors' item in a few years. Regarding Gigantosaurus, it should be noted that it's a licensed game based on a Disney Junior property, making it even lower hanging fruit than the average Disney property based game (and meaning that the target market is a LOT lower than the average game). My daughter, being a fan of dinos and Disney, got the game and often calls for my assistance with tough platforming sections. I fully agree with your analysis of the floaty controls and maddening lack of video control. Series of fetch quests separated by zero-risk cart sections.

Omg, I can't believe there's a Bibi and Tina game for the switch!!! 😂😂 Bibi Blocksberg is actually the protagonist of a german radio play of the same name, where Bibi does a lot of shenanigans, because she is actually a witch! ;) Also "Blocksberg" is the name of mountains that are associated with witches as well. Hence her last name. (Berg = mountain) Bibi and Tina is a spin off series, where Bibi visits her friend Tina at her horse farm (and does a lot less magic, sadly). Ps: Haha, Doctor Mike is in the first game. I wonder, if he knows about this. 😂
