In today's video, we are OVERCLOCKING my IceRiver KS0 Pro. From factory the KS0 Pro does about 200 Gh/s at 100 Watts, I wonder how far we can push it! TSWIFT and his team released some of the FIRST FIRMWARE out there to PUSH the IceRiver KS0 Pro to Level 10! Let's take our KASPA MINER and get some more HASHRATE out of it! I wonder how far we can push it? I'd be happy with 250 GH/s but lets see what happens!

Hi host 😊 thank you for the awesome videos. Still I have my questions about the vents. Vents that suppose to cool the inside, they always need to suck out the hot air. If you blow air in, you fill the inside with the warm air. And that you do not want! So with the 2 small vents, I would turn them over so the suck the hot air out while the cooler air flows in from the side.... The big 120mm fan can blow cooler air to the heatsink that is good. But keep in mind that if you want to cool the inside of some case, you always need to suck the warm air out.

the mesh idea is one I like to get into on my kso pro. mine is running 70 degree celcius on he exhaust side and 48 on the intake side. I have purchased the fan and will record the temp difference on my channel. oc the kso I am cautious since I am on a budget and I don't get things for free. thnx for the info as I am growing in this journey of mining.

I have one of these kso pro and its been over clocked. I installed two fans one on top and other at the end of miner with ends removed. It stops mining after a day or sometimes over 2 days. I upgraded also power supply 230 watts. It has tswift firm ware. Does this happen to yours? I'm using 280g firmware.

Great video. I would be quite interested in the temperature around the power connector on the board. Just because the power supply can handle 230W doesn't mean the board with its own connector is built for it. Tswift did send me a video of the temperature of the entire KS0 Pro, but the connector side is covered by a diffuser with a fan

THM great to see you only needed todo the first firmware, do you know why he stop selling the 360Gh firmware I think RPM or GGM got the 360Gh firmware and it worked, I’ll check with them to see if something happened, still awesome results and the instructions for cooling and PSU was for the 360Gh, also the reason to point the fans down now is because the KS0 Pro top enclosure has 80% less vent holes vs the KS0 top cover.
@TheHobbyistMiner
@TheHobbyistMiner 7 ай бұрын
I got lucky the first one worked. My understanding is the Newer KS0 Pros are a little more picky. So they have had to take a step back and refine a few things. I was told they will be releasing the firmware results of 360Gh down the road.

So you have increased the hashrate by 85Gh/s but the watts have also increased by approx 45W so what is the increase on Kaspa earning now over the stock IceRiver firmware? Does the increase in earnings cover the cost of the OC firmware, additional PSU and increased power consumption?

You make an additional 10.38 kaspa per day. which as of right now is an extra $1.34 per day. 600kas for the oc from tswift. makes it 57 days return if everything stayed exactly as it is now. (which we know it wont) more hash rate surely is going to hit the network.. but if kas goes to 20 cents or something.. then it changes everything. for now I am going to keep mine stock I am thinking.

Better than cheap fans. I only use them on OG KSO. I see much higher GH than 280GH. I can get north of 330GH to 350GH. I don’t see any issues leaving side panels off. Do you? Thanks

So that's nice, not too bad. It kinda just keeps stable, in that the power consumption is the same to the original if you divide the upgraded hashrate. after all, from 100 watts to 140 watss is 1,4 times the consumption. going from 200 gh/s times 1,4 equals, 280 gh/s. Now if we take into account the price of the fan and the adapter, then you're looking at a 70 USD investment. i think you might sell the original adapter and fan for 20 bucks tops, so you could say it's a 50 USD investment. 600 KAS for the firmware update is about 65 USD, making the true investment about 115 USD. for 115 USD, you make your KS0 PRO about 40% more powerful. this means, that you essentially get the same power out of 3 KS0 pro's out of 2 1/2 upgraded ones. unfortunately, halves don't work, so that means you'd need to have like 5 upgraded KS0 pro's to reach an 'unupdated' equivalent, right? so does that make 'sense' ? It goes for about 417 USD right now (for the january batch) or 500 USD for the December batch. we'll stay with the Jan batch. original : 200 GH/S @ 100 watt > 417 USD updated: 280 GH/S @ 140 watt > 532 USD ( total price incl. upgrades ) we need 5 updated KS0 pro's to achieve a 'full number' ( 1,4 x 5 = 7 ) 5 x upgraded KS0PRO = $ 532 USD = $ 2,660.00 USD ( 5 x 280 GH/S = 1,400 GH/S ) ( 5 x 140 w = 700 w ) 7 x standard KS0PRO = $ 417 USD = $ 2,919.00 USD ( 7 x 200 GH/S = 1,400 GH/S) (7 x 100 w = 700 w ) so if we divide that, we get a price difference of $ 259 USD saved by doing the 'upgrades'. so, if we round that up more or less, if you buy 10 upgraded KS0PRO's, you get 2,800 GH/s in total and use 1400 watts, and you spend $ 5,320.00 USD to achieve that same number, you need to buy 14 KS0PRO 'standard' versions, which will set you back 476 bucks more. essentially, for every 10 upgraded KS0's, you 'save'1 standard one. 10 upgraded KS0PRO's will sset you back $ 5,320.00 USD, and get you 2,8 TH/S. however, 1 standard KS1 will set you back $ 1,823.00 USD, and get you 1 TH/S, the equivalent of 5 KS0PRO's. Making the KS1 cheaper than the KS0PRO in comparison, even though the KS1 uses more Watts. if we round that up to 3 TH/S, you'd need 3 KS1's, that would set you back $ 5,469.00 USD and give you 3 TH/S at a consumption of 1800 W you'd need 15 KS0PRO's standard, which would set you back $ 6,210.00 USD and give you 3 TH/S at a consumption of 1500 W you'd need 11 KS0PRO's upgraded, which would set you back $ 5,8252.00 USD and give you 3 TH/S at a consumption of 1540 W. So, theoretically, the standard KS0 PRO is actually still the most efficient, especially if you consider that the 'overclocking' will likely lower it's lifespan, and void warranty, even though it is in total about 700 USD more expensive in investment cost. interestingly enough, that means you can buy a KS0PRO extra and have 3,2 TH/S, save 300 USD, and save 200 watts still. But, all of that goes down the drain if you compare it to the KS3M. 1 KS3M sets you back $ 7,396.00 USD right now, and has 6 TH/S, at 3400W. 6 KS1 sets you back $ 10,938.00 USD right now, and has 6 TH/S, at 3600W. 30 KS0PRO sets you back $ 12,420.00 USD right now, and has 6 TH/S, at 3000W. 22 KS0PRO upgraded is $ 11,704.00 USD right now, and has 6,1 TH/S at 3080W. So if we look at value, the KS3M is the king, even though it's comparable consumption is higher. This means that the KS0 PRO, comparably, has still too high of a buying price. The KS0PRO should essentially drop 40 % in price to be competitive to the KS3M right now. Considering however that it's more efficient, that figure may vary a bit. But let's say that if it drops 30 % in price, then we're looking at very interesting prices. If the KS0 Pro drops below $ 290 USD, it's an absolute beast to dive into and would set the market on fire. It would make the industry far more approachable. That however is not the case unfortunately. So as fun as the KS0PRO seems to be, it's still OVERPRICED compared to it's own other products. What would be interesting is to see whether the KS0PRO, especially with the current drop in KASPA value, might actually drop close to that value. If it would, i am sure many would jump in, and would increase the value of the KASPA, making it very profitable. what's missing right now essentially is a 'inbetween model'.

@@shilvock22 correct. it's funny that there are 'rumors' about Kaspa increasing in price again, this is just 'setting the market', and tricking potential buyers to keep buying Kaspa stock until the ASICs can't keep up with efficiency due to increased difficulty and prices dropping. at that point, a lot of KAS miners are going to either pull the plug, or sell their ASICs. now i hear a lot of speculation about supposed 'upcoming' bull runs. as 'nice' as that may sound, obviously it'll make KAS ASICs get some value, but at the same time, Bitcoin and Doge will be valuable too, and that's where most of the interest will - logically - be found. though ASIC miners, in general, are 'very' efficient in mining a specific 'crypto', this is obviously very much the crypto 'currency's' desire and so they pump and hype it up so people are tricked to jump in on the bandwagon. only the people whom have money to burn, or can get in serious debt with their credit cards (USA, USA, USA), and are 'fanatic' in the market have the benefit of jumping in these machines, and i'm pretty sure that the youtubers promoting this get a huge discount from the manufacturer - perhaps they can even get them for 'cost price'. so right when these currencies go 'boom', they can pull loads of money in a short time with that, then the manufacturer gets loaded by a run on these machines, until the hype dies off again, and the rest is playing 'catch up'. but even then, it's generally a lost cause because billionaire crypto businesses will jump on it the most and it should come at no surprise these are generally actually bank owned / banking companies, allowing them to spend huge amounts of investments at the fun of it also being a 'tax deductable business investment'. a shame, because technically, these (asic) miners would be, on paper, a lucrative and reliable 'passive' source of income, including long-term. on paper. on paper, and in theory, a better investment than slamming thousands into a currency that could just as well disappear. because if it 'drops in value', the benefit of the (asic) miner is that you keep mining the coin and (slowly) increase the 'gold' you mine out of the 'resources'. if only these (asic) mining rigs would be guaranteed to make a minimum 10 USD/EUR profit each day, and the ability to 'switch' crypto. then you could never truly go wrong with it. after all, it might not make 'much', but it sure as hell helps you pay f.e. your electricity bills, especially if you run the ASIC as a 'space heater' in winter and/or retrofit it into a 'water heater' so it can act like a kitchen boiler or even a shower boiler. It would also make it profitable for people who 'dare' or 'actually' invest in several of these things. if you could aquire/build 10 to 15 of these, that would get you $ 3,000.00 a month, as long as you can have the power supply to pull that.
