I’ve been a viewer of various types of people on KZbin for 14 years. I’ve noticed I have to be in the right mood, or a very specific mood, in order to watch 99% of them. Some are for bedtime, some I can only watch when I’m not feeling down, some I watch when I’m sad, etc. This Kara and Nate channel I can watch anytime, anywhere, which is rare for me. I truly love your personalities, your experiences, and your editing. I always feel good after, albeit envious… but inspired. Thanks for consistently making top notch content! Years ago I got bumped up to first class on a trip to France. I was the only one of my group who was. It was an extraordinary experience. Some 35 years later I flew to Taiwan with my husband, who’d been invited to address their war college. It too was so special. We were pampered! On the way back we had to change planes in Honolulu. We were kept in our first class status-but the American company’s notion of first class was hardly equal to the business class experience passengers had on my earlier flights. I am sooo spoiled, but there won’t be another such break. Very grateful!

Kelsey K Kara and Nate have worked EXTRAORDINARILY hard for what they have now. Your comment clearly tells me that you have not even bothered to watch any of their previous videos because they are all about immersing themselves in the local culture. Joining Holy in India, throwing tomatoes in Spain for an annual tradition, and any pf the local food tours they have participated in, do those not count as cultural? They have even slept in capsule hotels to save money so they can keep traveling. You can watch any of their videos and they will tell you how they accessed the lounge or was able to be upgraded or was able to afford their tickets: travel hacking. You clearly didn’t even watch this video because he even explains how he was able to book this First Class seat. You can go to their video they did when they traveled to Rome and how they saved a ton of money and was able to buy cheap business class tickets. Their video in the earlier years about how Nate did a mile run so he could afford the first year of travel, by gaining status and miles so they wouldn’t have to pay as much. If you are going to be ignorant, at least do some research.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Nate, but I believe the SSSS ticket marker is a signal for a random screen selection for extra security measures rather than flagging you personally as a security threat. My wife and I travel and have occasionally had this privilege which generally is only for that 1 person on that 1 day, and doesn't affect future travel (unless they were to find something suspicious, of course). Thanks to you and Kara for your travel videos! You helped us pull through the pandemic and we've been traveling more than ever thanks to your inspiration!
@pingan893 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s correct. I used to work as a ground staff for an international airline. The 4 SSSS is randomized screening.
@born2fish003 жыл бұрын
The SSSS is based in part on an algorithm of potential red flags and can be caused from a combination of factors such as the risk profile of the route you are on, the previous places you have been to recently, a number of short visits to different countries, and your demographic profile etc. I have had the SSSS a few times before, and can confirm it does not stick with you. Wear the SSSS as a "badge of honour" as it usually means you are a well travelled road warrior. FYI - the airline check in staff cannot remove this flag.

I don’t comment much on this channel but I had to say that it never ceases to amaze me how hateful and negative people bother to be on the internet. And what’s worse, they make comments on assumption. All you have to do is take the time and watch your videos to know that you have earned your way to where you are right now. AND you now help others do the same with your app. You did what so many other people are scared to do and you showed that there is a way, and the reason why it worked is because you went all in. You both as a couple our goals and I’m deeply sorry for the cynics in the world. But I know that you two are too busy enjoying life to let them bother you. And that’s how the whole world should be. I also understand that it’s difficult to enjoy daily life with how the climate is right now in regards to our government, but we really all need to come together and stop this hate. We should start there.

I envy Nate's enthusiasm. Every time I get on a plane, my anxiety levels shoot up and I just want it to be over. My best flight was one where I had all 3 seats to myself so I could lay down. Being scared of flying sucks.

I love that it was the real hand towel that pushed you over the edge…it was just too much luxury,too over the top 😂😂😂 What a fun experience. Too bad Kara missed out but you’ll have to do it again at some point with her.It would be hard going back to normal flights after that.I would definitely love first class flying for long flights.Putting my jammies on and getting all cozy.I’d love that more than the food.

I have only been in first class one time but that was back in 1992 on a trip back from Paris. It was incredible to be offered preflight champagne and all that goes with it. Of course I did have to sit next to my brother and it wasn't anywhere as nice as you had it. One of the nicest things was my brother's seat was big enough for him. My brother was very big. LOL

Nate - you never have to justify flying First Class! I decided a long time ago if the cost of an upgrade was within limits, I would do it! Plus you earned it after climbing a mountain and running a marathon! A well earned reward for all your hard work!

This flight looked wayyyy too good😍 jealous af but you guys deserve the best!! Also, do these people who think you are trust fund kids not listen to you? Y'all have explained over and over again, how you traveled on a 75$ budget a day and saved up the money yourself etc etc. Sometimes it seems like people just don't wanna listen. But you are always patient to explain, so keep up the good work!♥️
@karenkorzeniewski49362 жыл бұрын
Don't forget to mention though that Amex Platinum card you used to get the flight has an annual fee of $695 for full transparency, so the flight actually cost you $90+$695 so about $785. But I get the video sounds cooler without mentioning that. Great video! Been a fan for years, keep up the great work.

Great video as always. We have been doing the same thing with airmiles for the last 12 years and it means we can fly business instead of economy for that extra comfort. Have only flown first class once but worth it on a long haul flight. I think Kara needs to have the experience too so next time you fly somewhere long haul she should get to fly first class!

As former expats, my husband and I have both gotten the extra security screening for random overseas flights - we lovingly call it the SSSS penalty box.
@hungryhippo173 жыл бұрын
What does that mean? I couldn’t quite catch what he said
@katiezondlo22353 жыл бұрын
@@hungryhippo17 The SSSS stands for "secondary security screening selection". It's just an extra step in security that you are forced to do before boarding your plane. Your carry-on bags are searched, you have extra pat-down screening and are asked additional security questions. Then you have to wait in a secured area near the gate before boarding the plane. It's a hassle. You try to avoid getting the SSSS on your boarding pass, but if you regularly travel internationally, it's bound to eventually happen.

@@katiezondlo2235 That’s interesting I travel quite a lot and haven’t ever heard of that. Thank you so much for the explanation!

Honestly I too have been hacking the airlines for years, from the days over a decade ago when I was an insane road warrior for a few years and racked up Super Elite status on a few airlines at the same time. I learned how to maximize points to get really sweet deals. Still doing it. Although not as good as your Emirates First Class hack (kudos for that charming one) I recently booked two intercontinental long hauls in business on Turkish Airlines from Bangkok to Istanbul (10.5 hours nonstop) and then Istanbul to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia(5.5 hours nonstop) (I am spending three months conquering Africa) for 85,000 Star Alliance miles plus 100 Euros. These two flights combined would normally cost over $5000 in Business. But I got an even better deal back in February - 50,000 miles plus $85 for a 10.5 hour business flight on United from São Paulo to Toronto, normally around 3-4,000 dollars. To get these deals in my experience you have to spend a few hours on the booking platform, be patient and flexible, fiddle with all the parameters until you come up with a deal is usually 3-6 months in advance of the flight. Most people don't bother, complaining about the time investment but for maybe 3-4 hours of time, I was "compensated" well over $1,000 an hour - so totally worth it!!!

I few first class on Emirates Sydney Aus to Singapore a few years ago using all the points I earned on my credit card and rewards cards. Totally spoiled me for other airlines. Best bit was on the plane we were on had a shower that was bigger than the one in my apartment! I normally am exhausted after plane flights but it was the only flight I came off feeling refreshed and ready to go!

Everyone has to experience first class once in there lives lol. I flew to NCY and back to GB first class and even the holiday was a first class package. It cost £25k for 2 adults and a child and it was amazing. My nephew turned 12 whilst we were there and without saying the hotel organised gifts and a huge cake for him. We went shopping at Chanel/Pravda/Armani/monolo - (who fyi were rude as feck) and we didn’t have to carry bags as they were automatically delivered to the hotel. Even the first class suite at Heathrow was amazing, my sister and I had facials whilst waiting for the flight. It was a trip of a lifetime and my sisters husband was military and passed away 8 months before so due to 9/11 we especially wanted to go to NYC and my brother in law would have 100% approved of it. I will never forget it that’s for sure. Rest in peace AY you will always be missed 💕
