I would give it the same ratings, but if I knew that was all I was getting before buying the "games", I would not get any of them. Only the 30-dollar one had game functionality. Cutting down the trees and building a boat isn't really a "game". I feel like fiverr developers go in for the quick cash. I have seen better games from 2-D and Game Maker devs than 3-d ones. The 3-D developers seem to take assets, string them together, and then provide some low-grade functionality to call it a game. So for 35 dollars, you are supposed to get 5 levels. You wanted an open-world game, so there aren't really levels, but there should be at least 5 different environments to explore or 5 different enemies to fight or something. The second one was supposed to be 5 levels, but you went with an open-world game. Still, 5 levels should translate into at least 5 different environments to utilize. It was for a 2-D game, but he made you a 3-D game. I think you would have been better off just sticking with the 2-D open-world game. The third one admits he uses assets, so that's cool. Beyond the assets, what did he add? Character movement. Okay. Chop down trees? Yea. Die underwater? Sure. Lol. Build a ship by walking to the desk with enough work? Yea, got that. Beyond that, it's all assets, lol. The assets are beautiful, but there is no functionality for gameplay really. How long could it have taken him to make it for that much? Maybe a couple of hours if that? That's not 5-levels worth again. Maybe if you were more specific, the result would be better? Like if you didn't say, build be an open-world game where you fight monsters, collect numerous items to craft, and explore 5 different biomes. Maybe the result might be better? I know I said that I would go with your same ranks, but now that I think about it, I think the third one is by far the most annoying, lol. So I would go, 1, 2, 3. Yeah, for 400, it would have been a lot better. I would have been pissed.

the 400$ game would come with legal issues. since the dev just used investor template and synty models, if you get the source code, you don't have the rights to the synty models. uness you buy em $50 for synty models, 60$ for investor. and it could of been put together in a couple of hours.... for 400$ that's a HUGE rip off.

This is infact wrong, as the whole island and characters are from 2 packs called Polygon Pirates and Polygon Tropical Jungle Pack Made by Synty, with the Tropical pack alone costing 55$ USD. The Inventory and Melee system may of been brought but as a game dev its not just a drag and drop elements and again it would of costed the dev lots of money if he brought all the elements. What made you think that it was free assets? As it was a WHOLE island and Game.
@ShirePhoenix

@@ItsHotdogFred it wasn't that I was saying these were permanently free assets, (mb for not being clear enough) I was talking about the free for the month section which has featured all of these low poly packs including pretty much everything else the game contained, the only thing I cannot find an asset pack for, is the music and player controller, which the player controller also relies on the pirate low poly model he is using which again is or has been free multiple times, I wanna be clear, I am not intending any of this to be pin pointing anyone or calling anything out or to be rude, I just simply had my original comment and am now explaining,
@ShirePhoenix

By value yes I agree they technically arent free, but they have indeed been released free for the month a few times each as I have my main epic games account which I use for development and my backup which I also claim my assets on to make sure I never lose my stuff, and both of them have the assets from them being released free, and this has been done a couple times since they released these packs

Funny seeing all these non devs or hobby devs commenting on the unfair prices, while any decent indie prototype can cost up to 200-250k$ easily. Maybe some are just templates put together, but that's still not considered expensive or a rip off. Sure, most of these didn't take more than a day, but for that price, anything is considered good.

The $400 game is just an asset flip of the Survival Template paired with the Synty Pirate assets. There's nothing wrong with using game assets (I do) but this is a full template he used which has the survival aspects, inventory, movement, etc. Zero effort by the "developer". Best $400 that guy made. You got scammed.
@Netsuki
@Netsuki 29 күн бұрын
And yet plenty of people in this comment section spread misinformation that this game was super costy to made and "why do you expect games to be cheap to develop". Like even if he used paid assets and paid for them, it was far below the $400. And he probably just got these assets for free (because apparently they were free to grab at some point). So he literally didn't spend much on this project, didnt' even put effort to add actual gameplay to it. But people still go "game development cost a lot of money". Not for something like this. This is as you say, a big scam. Low effort game made out of template.

Very interesting video. What I learned from this, is when paying game developers, you should start small, and then pay for improvements and additional features. Do it in steps till you reach a place you are happy with. for me, the $400 game should be ranked the lowest. If you payed $400 to improve the $80 game, I think it would end up way better than the island ship game. (Which doesn't even have any enemy AI) same with the $30 if you gave him more to improve it.
@sonvay1006
@sonvay1006 4 ай бұрын
long story short: it never worth to pay a random guy to make a game for you that you can sell. If it would be really profitable for them, they would just sell their games as their own on Steam or on the Google play store. But also looking at this video which has 270K views, it's still worth it for you in the long run anyway. Also it's hard to decide whether the game developer spent literally days to make your game and maybe it's still looks bad, but all his work are honest and unique, because he made all the assets, scripts by himself, or someone who just used some flipped assets from unity store and haven't even changed anything on them.
