Jimmy, you said your parents are in their 50's. I am 56 and telling you that paying off their mortgage will be such a relief in the long run for them. They will be able to have much more financial freedom to put their money on bills or vacations they may have been putting off, or even sock away some money for an early retirement. A saying in America is "Don't block your blessings." Meaning, you paid the mortgage off for your parents. They should accept it because if not, they'll block the blessings coming to you, their son. You are such a good son. They did a great job raising you. You're such a blessing to them. Much love to you and to your parents.

I haven't found that part, it's clear jimmy is really thankful for being born. But regardless of child likes it or not isn't it true that parents owe their kids? They should atleast take care and provide opportunities till the kid is able to look about themself their own. Imo it's owning up to the basic responsibty of bring a life into existence.

@@cbazxy2697 19:59 to 20:10 well yeah parents have a responsibly to raise their kid. What Jimmy's dad is saying is he "owes" him for paying off the house, as in he feels guilty about only receiving a gift. so Jimmy goes "I'm your kid, if someone else did it then you can owe them" (paraphrased). bro pretty much went "I got you fam don't sweat"

Its because the father and the mother beleive in old traditions. The father more so. Its pride. In China the parents take care of their children. Even when the child is an adult. The child does not give to the parent, the parent gives to the child. That is why the father insists on paying the son back. But I know in the end he will accept the gift as the mother I can see already has.

I lost my mom last year to suicide and it has been one of the most mind-shattering experiences. I had a lot going on for me at the time: I was 23, I had faught hard to get back into school, I lived with my girlfriend who I loved. I was finally on a path where I was happy with myself and what was going on around me. Once I graduated college, my goal was to be able to support my family in the way that you have supported them. I really wanted to give back to my mom just like you. She was a single mom for many years of my life and we essentially grew up together. I wanted to be able to do what you have done for your family. You've really inspired me, ya know? It's Finals week and I've been putting off studying because I have so much self doubt. I feel lost without my mom, but I know she would be proud of me for what I'm doing. I have you to thank for pushing me to get back on the grind.

Jimmy all asian dads are actually softies inside who really care about their sons but are strict towards them because they are unable to show their love. One day 2 years back, me and my dad were talking in the car and I opened up to him and told him that I knew how hard he works for us, and how much he meant to me followed by an "I love you dad." We all know that Asians tend to be more, you know, shy and introverted, but watching you pull all those social shenanigans on the streets of NYC made me much more confident. Approaching girls and talking to them more confidently. I truly thank you for that, and I am so happy to see that you’ve made it. One day, I am also going to pay off my parents' mortgage. I started watching you in high school, and now I have my own business. Time really flies by, man. Although I don't really watch all your videos anymore, I still tune in from time to time. "it aint event that deep" lmao so relatable. my mom wouldve had the same hysterical reaction. But your mom totally deserves it!! she has sacrificed so much and always put her children's needs before her own. You did an amazing thing, and I hope to be able to alleviate some of my own mother's financial burdens one day.

You’re definitely very sweet person. That’s why you turned around and saved money to pay off your parents’ mortgage instead of holding grudges against them for their judgments about your KZbin videos. As a parent myself I too always worry about my kids. So I understand them.

Working barely liveable wages, and how everything just seems to be more expensive by the day, this really helps me live vicariously through you and inspires me to do the same even more, even if by other means. Thanks Jimmy. You fr the goat for this

This was amazing man. My mom is Viet and came to Denmark as a boat refugee, but she has made a very stable and good life for herself and us. My mom and dad are paying off the house this year, so all I can really hope to do is to make a good life for myself, and make my mom proud through my own achievements. Would have loved to be able to provide my mom like this, but I'm glad that she's in the fortunate position that she's in

“You are your own boss now” Her being a first generation immigrant from China, she understands this. She gave her kids a chance to succeed on their own and by themselves. And reap those benefits, not give them to the state. They are hero’s. I love immigration stories like this. Hard working people, raising kids with morals that are far superior to us native Americans, giving back to their family and loving the American dream.

I'm crying, too! I was 2 1/2 yrs. old when my parents and I came to the US from Denmark in 1953, on the promise of a job. It took me until I was in my early 20's to be mature enough to realize that they were brave and adventurous enough to leave everything and EVERYONE they knew to come the the States to begin a new chapter in their lives. My Mom taught herself English, using the newspaper and an English/Danish dictionary. It is with the deepest, most profound regret, as an almost 74 yr. old, that we never had that conversation.
