Jimmy, you said your parents are in their 50's. I am 56 and telling you that paying off their mortgage will be such a relief in the long run for them. They will be able to have much more financial freedom to put their money on bills or vacations they may have been putting off, or even sock away some money for an early retirement. A saying in America is "Don't block your blessings." Meaning, you paid the mortgage off for your parents. They should accept it because if not, they'll block the blessings coming to you, their son. You are such a good son. They did a great job raising you. You're such a blessing to them. Much love to you and to your parents.

Its because the father and the mother beleive in old traditions. The father more so. Its pride. In China the parents take care of their children. Even when the child is an adult. The child does not give to the parent, the parent gives to the child. That is why the father insists on paying the son back. But I know in the end he will accept the gift as the mother I can see already has.

I lost my mom last year to suicide and it has been one of the most mind-shattering experiences. I had a lot going on for me at the time: I was 23, I had faught hard to get back into school, I lived with my girlfriend who I loved. I was finally on a path where I was happy with myself and what was going on around me. Once I graduated college, my goal was to be able to support my family in the way that you have supported them. I really wanted to give back to my mom just like you. She was a single mom for many years of my life and we essentially grew up together. I wanted to be able to do what you have done for your family. You've really inspired me, ya know? It's Finals week and I've been putting off studying because I have so much self doubt. I feel lost without my mom, but I know she would be proud of me for what I'm doing. I have you to thank for pushing me to get back on the grind.

What i love about this video is that it didnt go super smooth like what most people post. You saw a bit of that "asian parent reaction. But i just loved that because of how genuine and heartwarming this felt.

It's so funny how your parents' house looks just like mine. I mean the organised mess, the calendar or the type of furniture ! True asian household right there

@@503zzach nah a lot of asian houses in south east asia look similar, maybe slightly different with not so chinese-centric decorations but more local things

You just opened a door of many more blessings for yourself. Congratulations 🎊 this is the most exciting/heartwarming video I’ve watched this year. I couldn’t even read the subtitles when your mom started crying, the tears just started filling up my eyes. May the Lord continue blessing you. ❤️ I’m inspired.

“You are your own boss now” Her being a first generation immigrant from China, she understands this. She gave her kids a chance to succeed on their own and by themselves. And reap those benefits, not give them to the state. They are hero’s. I love immigration stories like this. Hard working people, raising kids with morals that are far superior to us native Americans, giving back to their family and loving the American dream.

I'm crying, too! I was 2 1/2 yrs. old when my parents and I came to the US from Denmark in 1953, on the promise of a job. It took me until I was in my early 20's to be mature enough to realize that they were brave and adventurous enough to leave everything and EVERYONE they knew to come the the States to begin a new chapter in their lives. My Mom taught herself English, using the newspaper and an English/Danish dictionary. It is with the deepest, most profound regret, as an almost 74 yr. old, that we never had that conversation.

I love Chinese parents. Reminds me of my dad & step mom. Yr mom is adorable. I’m so happy you were able to do this & make her so happy. I’m proud of you, if no one has told you today. I know Chinese parents don’t know how to vocalize their love or show affection, but you can tell how much she loves you.

@ I have Chinese parents? I’m half Chinese. My dad is from Taiwan, grandparents from China, stepmom also from China. Mom was American. My dad doesn’t really know how to show his affection either & neither did my uncle. lol. But they show it in their own ways, just not affection.

I think I've been with you for about 5 years Jimmy, and man, I gotta say I feel so connected to you through your videos. When you were giving the house tour and talking about your memories, I was wearing a smile the entire time, and I was already tearing up when you were showing the pictures of your family. Seeing your mom's reaction made me cry so much tears of joy, I am so happy for you man and you've sparked hope inside me that I will be able to do the same for my family as I become more successful. Good stuff man, I'll always be here in your life journey :D
