Loved this video! I just can't believe the blends, it's just incredible. I did not like the model itself, maybe I'm too much into fantasy figures, who knows, but the paint is IMPRESSIVE, definitely Golden Demon material, no doubt about it. I've spent even more than 100 hours on some of my minis and they don't look as good as yours. You can paint in maybe 1 hour a much better mini that I would get in 50, I have to live with that. Your videos are making me get better and that's more than enough for me. About the freehand markings… well, I'm still trying to recover my dropped jaw. And finally, the base. If you are not good at basing, then I'll have to consult a dictionary to find the proper term for my bases 😆 A commended entry is, IMHO, something to be very proud of, really. So, GO ZUMIKITO 🦾🦾 Congratulations, really 😃 And for the scammer, I trolled him FOR DAYS 😆Very funny indeed 😆

@@alexanderthomson6966 At first it may look legit but really it is a quite common scam, and even if you trust the looks, the moment the scammer starts writing in very poor English, offering you totally unbelievable presents, it is clear it's fake. I already reported the KZbin channel but I'm not sure if it still up, and warned Zumikito just in case. And as I said, since this is a very well known scam, I contacted the scammer and had fun trolling him and making him waste quite a lot of time.

I actually won a few Golden Demons over 20 years ago, only getting back into the hobby now. My winning miniatures from back then couldn't hold a candle to what you and other modern painters do. There were no online painting tutorials back in the day, we were just some young guys trying out what might work. The general level of painting has risen so much, it's absolutely amazing. So much more to learn, thanks for the inspiration!

Tell me about it! Just got back into the hobby and there are so many new things. The modern acrylic paints for one are blowing me away. I won a mini painting contest at (Chessmaster? Gamemaster?) in the Santa Anita Mall back in... '85? '86? I painted what must have been a Warhammer GW mini as it was an Ork with a blaster pistol and a big knife. I probably used all Testor or Humbrol...maybe some Tamiya. The quality of minis and the modern painting methods are a game changer! And all the tutorials online...what a difference! If you didn't link in with someone at your local hobby shop back then it was all self taught. Anyway, awesome paint job, love the channel.

I feel like "bases don't matter" has not been true for a long while. Simple example: look at Chris Clayton's piece. The whole premise would not have worked w/o that giant waterbase. Bases are important to set the scene and support the narrative. And it can add to the wow factor if you include an idea that is fresh and intriguing.
@Zumikito2 жыл бұрын
I agree that they do matter, but more so in some categories than other. Duels and dioramas feel like they have the highest importance (no surprise there). But certainly the base can not be a fat nothingburger in any category, so the krieg could use so much more diversity for sure. However, one LOTR medalist still had quite minimalistic base with outstanding mini.

Congrats on your highly commented entry certificate, very well deserved, amazing work you have done. Quick question, when you return to some part to perfect the blending, when you start from a new wet palette sheet, how do you colour match ?? You need to be very precise so you don't ruin what you has done a few days before, so how do you find the right mix of colours 🤔?
@Zumikito2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I keep my old sheets when working on the same project to color match it. Either way, if you just work with 2 to 3 colors, it's not that hard. Also, if you blend just the transitions between highlight and the midtone, mix rough ration between that and stipple glazes should do the trick. If you see it becoming too dark or light, add the other color. Hope it makes sense
