I painted a 20 FEET long mural in our studio!
Some of our projects have stayed in our storage room collecting dust for a while, and so it is time to give them a worthy home! I tried using spray cans for the first time (you know, the type you can make cool graffiti with if you know what you're doing) and acrylic paint, and created a custom Nerdforge-themed mural in our storage room! Now we can finally make a little showroom in the corner for our previous projects!

@@Darryldesiderium Well, the less talented you are, the more time you can spent on a project. The only thing you really need is dedication and the discipline to pull through. And maybe a hint of perfectionism helps as well. Granted, it will always turn out better, if you are also "talented" on top. But anyone can gather skill and muster discipline :)

For me it was quite funny (as an artist who works a lot with spraypaint) to see you testing out all the caps. I feel like most people underestimate how difficult working with this is. Was a struggle for me too at first and it actually needs a lot of practice as every new art medium needs, but you will get the hang of it. Mostly it's control of the pressure you put on the cap, working quick to not have too much paint in one spot and using your whole bodyflow to make cleaner lines. Learning which caps and which cans work best for what you want to achieve is of coursetime consuming, but also very worth it. And of course as I said lots and lots of practice... You did pretty well for your first time though.

this is not really traditional graffiti though with the markers and small brushes for the line work and all the masking with tape. heck one might argue using a projector is kind of cheating. not that it really matters but this is more of a mixed medium art piece than true graffiti.

Seeing the finished product, there was no way you were going to achieve that level of detail and line work with just spray paint at any skill level. Having said that, combining both mediums and finishing it off with your strengths, you ultimately achieved something that you wouldn't have been able to do with just a brush. 10/10 for the beautiful hard work you put into the project and not giving up despite being frustrated at your earlier results. 😁

For the first time EVER I'm watching a Nerdforge video where I can excitedly say, I get this because I've done it! Had a mural painting business years ago; the largest single mural I did was 1800 square feet (American here, I know. Feet vs meters! 🙄) on the back wall of a gymnasium, don't know how many sq feet total I've painted... Was so impressed with this! I love it! It truly captures the spirit of who you all are and what you do and create! What a fantastic mural! (Okay. I looked it up - 167 sq meters!) I miss painting murals. Unfortunately, 2 hip replacements later and arthritis in all the rest of my joints, I'm down to painting canvasses in my studio, no ladders or scaffolding any more. But I'm still painting! Never give up, artists and makers! Give my love to Lord Nori!

I think the purpose of spray paint art is that it is not supposed to be in the lines. Most artists who use it, just freehand it. It is not supposed to be nice nad tidy from what I understand. Hence brushes were invented - to stay neatly in lines and make it all crisp and clean. And from what I know spraypaint is not used for details, it is mostly for the background and fades/blends.

I found you thanks to LTT colab video (which is funny, because I also didn't even knew them) and from that moment I was hooked. I saw a lot of your videos, even became your patron on Patreon and when I have some free time, I am just watching your older videos. Both of you are amazing (your personality and of course your talent) and it is just so refreshing seeing young talented people like you doing something so rewarding in the end. Even if it is sometime frustrating and not how you imagined. So thank you both, but especially you, Martina, because you are really awesome human being.

i've done graffiti for a few years and there is a lot you can achieve with can control and learning what you can do with a spraycan like different caps for different results, distance, speed, pressure on the cap, the way you move and hold the can etc, and there is no shame in using tape or a piece of cardboard to cover up and or get a straight line and just rollers to fill in large sections or a background color. you will get the hang of it and then combined with your talent you are going to enjoy it more and more and create amazing pieces of art. i would love to see another spraycan/graffiti video
