I painted a dream my client had of his dog before she passed away ❤️ 1 HOUR - ASMR

Thank you, Patricia, for making my vision of Lucy come to life. Lucy was that one dog of a lifetime. Let me give a little more context to the dream & vision. The dream was a reoccurring dream that started a few months, before I knew Lucy was sick. I don’t know why it stuck because I can never remember my dreams. The dreams stopped about a month before I found out Lucy had cancer. It was only 10 days between the time I found out to when Lucy passed & 2 weeks before the Covid shutdown. One month after Lucy passed, Sam, a golden retriever was born. Poor Sam, I kept calling him Lucy for several months. Once in a while, I still do. The vision of Lucy came late at night as I was sitting on the floor hugging Sam. I looked up and saw Lucy on the bed where she always slept. It startled me, but she was very excited & smiling as usual. She got up and ran back and forth, then appeared to be running away and up a hill. She stopped, turned to me, and said , “It’s Sam’s turn”, then disappeared. Patricia, your ability to interpret my thoughts were nothing but amazing. You knew what I wanted and needed more than I did. Your interpretation & use of the muted colors are perfect. What I didn’t realize until later, was that in the dream Lucy was telling me she would be leaving soon as she sat on that bluff, looking up to me. The collar design is of Lucy’s first collar as a puppy and the tag of a dog doing a happy dance is the tag Lucy never got to wear. It arrived a few days after she passed. It was very fitting since she was always smiling & happy. I appreciate it so much that you were able to do that for me. And of course, here’s Sam a couple of weeks before I nearly squeezed him to death after the vision of Lucy disappeared. ......... Sorry, I thought I would be able to add it to my comment. Not only is this one of the most moving and yet uplifting drawings or paintings I've ever seen on KZbin, and a showcase of your tremendous skill in rendering form with sensitivity and finesse... but this is you helping somebody's soul say farewell. The pain of loss radiates from this piece as Lucy peers over her shoulder for the final time in the dream, but so does the warm glow of a thousand happy memories. I got emotional when Lucy's face was being realised, and I'm convinced a cold soul wouldn't be able to produce work of this emotional depth or veracity. Good God, you can paint x

I’m speechless. I lost my first dog at the beginning of the year. He would have been 15 this year and I still talk about him like he’s still here. I have a puppy now and I have times where I feel it’s wrong to love him but then remind myself that I loved my first dog so much, I still have love to give. It’s not a sin to love a new puppy. It’s not a replacement, it’s a legacy that is carried on. One that will never die ♥️

Pure perfection. I was waiting to see how you're going to preserve it. I always had problems with pastels and charcoal that no matter how many layers of fixative I put, it always smudges. And adding each layers is always so tricky because of the stains.

Overall, the painting is great:) Especially the attention to detail and the portrayal of the character of the dog and the surroundings. Congratulations!:) The only thing I would notice is that the color of the river should reflect the color of the sky and surroundings - the water reflects light and therefore the colors:) Apart from this just one little detail, it's a great work and a very moving story! 🐕

Hi just wondering, I use oil paints I’ve never tried pastels, do you use a fixative or lacquer to preserve your finished piece? and does it leave a sheen? I really enjoyed your work

Thank you very much ❤️ pastels don’t have any sheen ☺️ you should use a high quality pastel surface, I use one called pastelmat from clairefontaine that way you’ll be able to frame it without using any lacquer. Adding chemicals will ruin the pigments. As long as it’s framed behind high quality glass (museum glass is my favourite choice) and a framing Matt that separates the painting from the glass, the painting will last for many years to come.
