@@PatRiot-le7rd I mean ~$3k is a lot but that's not much more than a week vacation in Hawaii, a cruise or even Disney. If its your once-a-year vacation, it seems doable.

@@SmallLab129 Valid point regarding people who can afford such vacations. Some people, though, have more modest budgets. For me, with student loans and such, the idea of being able to spend even 1/10th that amount for a vacation might be something I can dream about doing in 10+ years. Not blaming anyone for my life choices or circumstances. Instead, I'm just repeating, if society valued my contribution enough that I earned enough money to be able to pay for airfare, for a passport, and for attendance at such an event, yes, once in my life I'd splurge and participate. I think it's really cool that people who work hard enough to make that kind of money have a chance at such a vacation. If I were in that place in life, I suspect I'd appreciate the opportunity for such a fun escape from the daily grind to get some R&R playing D&D in a castle.

@@PatRiot-le7rd fair enough but again, this is a luxury and niche type of thing. Those 2 words are rarely cheap. Understand that it’s a tall order for someone on a student’s budget. But as you get further (or start) in your career, things will open up and things like this might become attainable.

24 hrs in 3 days!!!! I once did 16 hours in 24 hours. I slept in the 8hrs bus drive between the first game in Montreal and the 3 games at the Toronto AL store event.

24 hrs seems crazy, but I'm currently watching Nerdy Nightly's Roleplay Relay and they are streaming a D&D campaign 24hrs a day for a week! Can't wait to see the next video about this!

I mean, they're pretty much guessing correctly - this event in particular hires DMs who have their own audiences, because that's how they sell tickets. People are more willing to invest in an intense vacation like this if they get to play with a tabletop creator they admire. Every DM at this event is established in the tabletop community, whether that be through a KZbin channel, Actual Play streams, writing for publication, etc.
