It's no longer random or set so you can create your own path, sadly. You always spawn near a green city if not a large town which contains everything you will ever need. Used to be you had to actually find your way across different biomes. There is no survival aspects anymore. :((((((((((((

@@EJ6GamesYT Yeah, If i could learn how mods work, I would make a simple one to have you spawn away from towns so you have to use survivals skills and some guessing to find salvation lol. Also I wish different towns would have loot more related to their corresponding trader. Like Jen would have a hospital in her town but no where else, and so on. =] I just really hate being so stationary in one city forever.

@@pineappleparty1624 you dont need to learn how mods work you just get the mod launcher and choose 1, it does everything for you. Also to do high tier POI quests you DO have to go to far away towns since most towns dont contain enough or any of the T5/T6 buildings

A handful of beginner tips from someone who plays this game far too much 1. Trap doors, or i think they're called hatch doors now, are amazing for defense. Mainly because when you open the door, it is solid. So you can place trap doors on normal flooring, say in a hallway or behind a door. Leave them down most of them time, then flip them up on horde night. It's a great way to add defenses without obstructing pathways. Good for melee too. I use them everywhere 2. On a slightly cheesy side, you can expect zombies to try to funnel to a door if you have one. You can use this to your advantage when planning defenses. The wooden plywood building blocks can be changed into many different shapes by, i believe, holding R? It's been a moment. I personally recommend the ones that look like jail bars. I tend to use those in one way or another to give myself a protected spot where i can shoot the *outside* of my front door to get the zombies off it Also 2½. It doesn't look like it, but all the building functions on a block grid like minecraft. If you're trying to place something and it doesn't want to place properly, there's probably an odd piece taking up the square that doesn't look like it is 3. The building has physics. Not overly important right away, but basically, things need foundation, dont let the foundation break if you want to stand on something. 4. Beware the moats! Everything can be damaged by anything besides the traders and bedrock. Which means yes, zombies can dig if given the opportunity. Breaking out the weak dirt foundation instead of the strong concrete you'd hope they'd attack. And yes, they can dig their own stairs if given enough distance. Moats are fine, just be careful they dont get out of hand 5. Blood moons (day 7) will get worse based on your gamestage. You can see it in the player list menu. Nothing overly fancy. Higher number, stronger enemies. So, progressing quickly can cause a huge spike in difficulty. I tend to play with an xp multiplier, and it makes the gamestage skyrocket quickly. Also, the game works on a heat map. Which is basically the more you work on a location (home/base), the more the game will send zombies at you outside of a blood moon. Things like workstations, torches, campfire, forge, will all generate more "heat." So if you're looking for more challenge, these are systems to get more familiar with. I hope these help!

@@hppottiness I could have not played with it enough to see what you're talking about, but from what I saw, a hatch on the floor still worked the same, The only real difference were the hatches on the upper block, they would climb under sometimes, but didn't seem to always figure it out. In a 2x1 or 2x2 hall, a hatch attached to the floor like pop up cover was blocking them like it normally would. As long as they don't have head room to jump over, but that was always the case. I had the same results from a 3 block tall hallway that had a hatch stuck to the roof and floor. Both were open effectively leaving only the middle block open. They were forced to break something before they could get in. So basically if the unblocked space isn't on the bottom block, its okay, which was already the case due to spiders. I'm curious as to whats making them not work because these are some of my favorite defenses, I'm not seeing the flaw yet though

Insym is in a safe place looking through loot oblivious to anyone fighting outside. More minutes pass "why are you all so hurt?" 🤣

What's even the point in playing with other people when you're literally ignoring them the majority of the time, are running away from them any chance you get doing your own thing, and aren't actually playing WITH them.

I've been hoping for so long that you'd play this game. It's rough and a bit overwhelming at first, but the amount of content, from skills to crafting, and wait until you see there are over 6000 place-able blocks to build with. Cooking, electronics and wiring, auto turrets and traps, vehicles including a gyrocopter. You'll love it if you get in to it.

Read each book, most books are for upgrading your crafting ability, but some books are special crafting books, for example, there is a book to make explosive arrows and bolts, there is also a book to make Military Stealth Boots. Most books are crafting tree but the good ones are special craftings. (Collecting all of a certain set of special book gives you a bonus craft, Ranger books completed gives you the ability to make bulk arrows and bolts in 100 stacks. Camouflage books completed allows you to make a Ghillie Suit which is the best suit for being a stealth player.)

I never thought I’d see the day that Insym plays one of my all time favorite games. I’ve been watching Jawoodle, Glock9, Guns Nerds and Steel, and all the other 7 Days To Die creators for years, basically since they began making content. Especially Jawoodle and GN&S, been watching them since they very first uploaded, but what I’m trying to say is that this is awesome, please keep playing 7DTD, and once you get the hang of it and wanna try something new you can try these mods: Darkness Falls, Ravenhurst, Rebirth, War of the Walkers, Undead Legacy, Frostbite, and more(I’ll come back and edit this to add more if he winds up playing more).

I believe chat was saying you need a wrench for the CAR you were staring at and asking "do I need a wrench for this?" Efficiency is paramount in this game. You do not want to waste precious game time. ESPECIALLY if you're playing 30min days. As you can tell, many important things are rare. Absolutely if you find an anvil in a shop the first... psh two weeks I'd suggest picking it up. Lol at your comment about needing a PH.D to make iron arrows... I mean, yeah. Kind of. Do you think melting iron and shaping it into an arrowhead is easy? Can you do that irl? Heck, i probably couldn't even make a working stone arrow with my two hands. Yes there is a lot. I can't wait until you figure out wiring and base building/killbox strategies for horde nights. Or automotive work. Or farming. Your game doesn't start until you get a helmet light mod and bicycle from the next tier of quests. To be honest I almost always give a new character a lvl1 mining helmet. Eh I used to be a miner before the outbreak. Sure. Also also... default first week horde is baby's first survival. 8 zombies is nothing. Try putting the settings up to 32 or 64 zombies! Oh well. Hope you guys play more.

I also noticed they changed the setting that required building elements to be supported. We had a base collapse on us one time because they'd changed physics settings from what my brother was used to making the physics more realistic, and here we have you placing things in mid-air, which we couldn't do last time we played a few years back. Plus the blood moon waves was only a single wave... I guess they introduced the waves increasing in strength at some point. I posted a video link in an earlier comment showing a case where my family had our first blood moon in a game.

Insym - The game used to have clean water in the water dispensers but the devs changed it to murky water to fit that atmosphere of the game. People have to actively filter water to make it drinkable in reality otherwise it will be tainted water hence if you have to take water from an open stream, then you have to boil the water to kill bacteria and parasites hence you also boil the water in game AND rain water is fresh water so the Dew Collector catches rain water which allows you to collect fresh water every time it rains.

Play more!!! Also, what chat probably neglected to tell you is skill points make you find the magazines you want to get quicker. Some skills give particularly more benefit for example vehicles books are found by Grease monkey skill in intellect makes you get around the map way faster but takes a lot of books to hit the good tiers of transportation also expensive in terms of resources to build. The wrench everyone was talking about speeds up dismantle of electronics and vehicles so so so much faster. Also by spreading out your points a bit the loot YOU open is tailored twords your skill set. This all being said I highly recommend atleast one point in "advanced engineering " to start getting more forage ahead books for forge crafting table chemical station and crucible for your forge

I usually recommend increasing zombie block damage, decreasing player block damage, and decreasing loot, for each player that joins. The game gets a lot easier with more people. Hope to see more!

For settings you might wanna increase experience multiplier to 200% (this will balance the 30 mins days with game progress) If you wanna spice it up a little you can increase the amount of zombies on the horde to 10 or 12 Also look for 'shared experience range' this should be at max (this will grant a good party experience) And quick tips: Left click anything on your inventory you might have a doubt, you'll find useful info. Iron gut is the perk you want to reduce your hunger and thirst Dew colector is the way to go to get water To improve stamina usage you should use your skill points on the Tool/weapon perk you wanna use With this new update, perks window got more comboluted, just know the first 5 tabs are for perks

I've played 7 days to die off/on since it first came to early access in 2013. It's a running meme that it's "still in Alpha" the game has gone through major overhauls in 10 years, the game only vaguely shares some things that it had in it 10 years ago I'd say about 98% of the assets have been changed. There are also mods for 7 days to die that change the game completely too.

Would definitely recommend PvE servers for this game, especially ones with additional community-oriented content! No mods required to download! One that comes to mind is Shady Grove (currently on chapter 3). Additional tiers of quests, can pick professions, new stronger zombies at further biomes, central trading town and lots of QoL stuff added. Plenty more servers to check out!

The strength of the horde in the horde night dependens on your level and time passes, but you also get a weaker horde again if you die. The game stage in the player overview shows how much each player adds to the total horde strength if staying close to each other. The horde night is way weaker if you shorten the time until it gets day 7. With a higher game stage you get better loot, so its not only punishing to not to die.

The first horde night is really easy, it's basically an intro to the horde night. If you don't have people helping you, it's an unexpected occurrence, so the first horde night is just sort of a tutorial. Day 14 is when it really gets crazy.

Thumbs this up for if Insym ever plays this again: there are multiple skills that will improve your stamina situation. You can use less for sprinting, mining, and attacking separately. Also by staying alive and well fed/watered, your maximum health and stamina will increase. Drinking various clean drinks will also give you stamina boosts. Also, chatters who haven't played on the most recent update need to stop giving advice lol.

After playing this game for many years. Since Alpha 14 I believe or earlier, can't remember. I've always enjoyed playing it, especially seeing how much the game has evolved over the years. It's even more amazing that this was all built in Unity and just been upgraded more and more over the years.
