Hey just so you know; I just started playing New Eden, and they have an *epic* cloak in their holiday event shop, called the Iron Pineapple cloak. Warms my heart to see hardworking devs from indie teams that probably don't have a lot of wide-area marketing options, getting this kind of support from someone who takes the time to dig through a bunch of obscure titles in search of the hidden gems. And to see them show appreciation in return.

Hey, QA helping development for New Eden here. This video is incredibly appreciated and is very well made to show New Eden in a favorable light. I hope you had fun playing and hope you take a look later in the game’s life span to see the impact you have made on this game’s player base. Another reason to take another look is the fact that you missed the most important boss that takes slight inspiration from Elden Ring 👀 Btw sorry you had to run into the resident PvP god Rustery, but if anyone gets on at a moments notice during the game’s downtime, it’s him :) Hope you had as much fun as I do while playing NE and I highly recommend playing again when there is more than 2 people online. the thing about new eden: they seem to just not aim for the stars but build the rocket first. sure, they have a lot of things in mind for their game (as visible in the roadmap), but they just start at the beginning, have a pretty solid foundation, and most importantly chose something accomplishable from the start. A top down 2D or 2.5D game with pixel graphics is just so much more managable than high end 3D physics systems and graphics if you don't just put an asset-sandbox together. i actually have decent hopes for that one.

for sure! the game stays pretty "boring" for a while but its a good way to develop a game. it helps avoid scope creep. do what you can and get that down good before moving on. Some game developers (both indie and AAA) get a bit too excited and try to get EVERYTHING working right off the bad. sometimes that works but you run into a huge risk of your systems not mashing up well, or there's a lot of ideas but none of them feel very complete or fun. Not sure i''ll ever play new eden but I'm hoping it works!

@@Seb_Falkor The thing is, how do you make a statement like "it takes decades" when there is no reason/example of that being true. 3D Gaming with the technical possibility for those animations isn't even that old. @@99Etien brother it is not a literal statement. It looks so good it looks like they’ve been doing it for decades. And your argument using ‘thank you for your service’ makes no sense either. It’s about the meaning of the saying, the spirit of ‘serving’ your country, not any literal specific actions. There are service members who’s job is literally janitor work and it would still be acceptable to thank them for their service. Shit, that would be acceptable even for non service members. There is meaning beyond the literal.

New Eden, Void Sols, and Estencel all looked really cool, for different reasons. New Eden for taking such an ambitious concept and making something that actually looks like a good experience, Void Sols for nailing the core experience and somehow being very aesthethically pleasing despite being mostly simple shapes, and Estencel for the insanely cool character/creature designs.
