It's because in 4,150cc (or as Troy calls it, 99,999cc) you go slower with a Mushroom than without it

troy please dont do 1cc desert bus, 1cc is about 1/10 the speed of 150cc, desert bus at 150cc takes about 6 hours, so it would take around 60 hours (2 & a 1/2 days) to complete actually maybe you should do it at some point

@Thulium i know, 1cc (contrary to its name) is actually 1/10 the speed of 150cc, not 1/150, if 1cc was 1/150 of 150cc's speed, it would take you about 900 hours or 37 days to complete it, which is longer than getting to the max score of 99 in the actual desert bus (792 hours/33 days)

When you said “we’re going backwards” you didn’t actually stop or go backwards. Once you get going fast enough, things like the stripes on the road appear to stop and start going backwards. Edit: I looked at it again and I realized this time it actually did stop and start going backwards, but what I said still can happen

Troy says he "stops" at 0:48 cause he was going so fast, but the real reason it looked like he stopped was because the lines were going by so fast that it looked like he wasn't moving. Its like that video of the helicopter thats taking off and the camera's frames match how fast the blades are going if that makes sense.

Fact: The original Desert Bus game was pretty much just like this, minus the checkpoints, so one wrong move, and your aaaaaaall the way back at the start. and you had to keep it steady for 6 hours with nothing to do but hold a bus steady.

that 0:49 backwards thingy is the same reason that tyres seem to move backwards when speeding up on camera. it is slightly out of sync with the framerate, so that the frames you see are slightly "behind" each other

So in the MKWii universe 1500 or so is the speed of light and when you reach the speed of light time stops and if you accelerate further time will appear to reverse, however its actually just the light reversing so it would appear that you are going backwards, however if you reach the distance that you have travelled then you will begin to see the events that happened before the race started. Altough this is the mario kart universe so i don't know
