Ever since i saw your subnautica videos, I have been wanting you to play ARK. This is a newer remake of the older game, which is still beautiful, but needed to be upgraded to unreal 5. Ark was what really triggered my thalassophobia...it is for me worse than subnautica (I have not played :( ) in the sense that it isn't jump scares, but the sight of some prehistoric horror like mosasaurs or giant squids sensing you and turning towards you and just relentlessly goes to kill you, is terrifying. PLAY THIS GAME!!!!

This is what I try to explain to the veterans on a server. The BEST fun is not what they end up doing, breeding ultra strong tames, but the simple things. Don't build traps to tame something, do it ON FOOT, running for your life and trying to get it down. Stuff like that. Let the game amaze you. Even with 6k hours now, I still often just run around with a torch. It's a lot more fun than having invincible tames that give you 100% surviving chance. Basics, people, basics.

I have 2,000+ hours in Ark and have bought this game for so many of my friends who haven't played. The reason? Exactly what made me LOVE your video so much! That sense of wonder and excitement that you so eloquently put into words when describing "that new game feel". I remember it so well from when I first played. Fortunately, I can continue to experience it vicariously through friends and individuals such as yourself who are just beginning their journey. I rarely comment on KZbin and when I do, it really means I liked your stuff. I am SO looking forward to watching this entire series. I hope you fall in love with Ark and enjoy it as much as I have! Happy Surviving!!

As someone who’s played this game for over 7 years and has many thousands of hours into it, this made my heart smile. This has to be one of the purest experiences I’ve watched. Usually these “I’m playing Ark for the first time” vids are chaotic and funny. This one though, hit all the feelings. The wonder and awe of first discovering the game. You are exactly right about these first moments and savoring them. Every Ark veteran wishes for those first days experiences; the discoveries, the confusion, the fear, the pure joy of figuring something out. I wish you nothing but the best experience fellow survivor. The only hint or tip I’ll give you is save often. The rest is up to you to discover. Boy, do I envy you right now.

While i never played Ark Survival Ascended, I did put too many hours into Ark Survival Evolved. Some things definitely got changed, but to me, it looked like every time you crashed, the game added more Engram Points to your account. You are indeed not supposed to be able to get all engrams / blue prints xD A few little tips in case you don’t know already: the pick and axe have different priorities on what item they give the most off. Use both on a tree and see which one gives more thatch and which one gives more wood. Same with stone etc. Not all dino’s can be tamed with the same method. For some, you need to do some very specific things before you can tame them. The story is mostly hidden in notes you can find all over the land. They don’t give it to you easily. Personal opinion, if you are on a single player map, I would change some settings, like taming speed and breeding speed. Some dino’s can take multiple real life hours to tame / breed. Almost every Ark youtuber that I see, has changed the settings to make it more bearable. And don’t be afraid to google stuff. Ark is the type of game where you kinda have to for some things.

Thanks for the advice!
@corporealghoul Жыл бұрын
@@ButchX3i would highly suggest reaching out to someone that has played who wont spoil the game to help you with private settings. At vanilla settings taming dinos can take hours. The hardest to tame dinos at higher levels can legit take 10 hours to tame. And if youre on a persistent server then the game is still going while youre offline and youll just lose your tame while offline unless you wait all 10 hours. Messing with settings can turn that 10 hour tame into an hour... or 10min if you prefer. This is a thing for all stats in game. Breeding for instance. If you wanted to get into breeding and mutating tames youll need full real life days to set aside. If your server is set to turn off when you log out then that can be both helpful and hurtful. It helps that you wont lose everything to a giga while youre sleeping in real life. But also resources wont spawn back if the server goes inactive when you log out so in that case youll want to increase the rate that resources respawn. Lots of ways to personalize the settings to work for the amount of time you have available. But at vanilla settings it can take literal hours to just tame one dinosaur.

First dino was a Dilo called Gary. He got killed by a trike, I was devestated. Great game.

Ooh, i'd 100% watch more of you playing ASA ❤ A few very small tips from me (Spoiler Free): Check the tooltips of the pick and hatchet. Those will tell you what the tool is farming primarily and can save you lots of time. For taming later on: Be prepared to think out of the box. There are a ton of variables in the environment that will affect how smooth the process will be. But once you figured stuff out, all the effort pays off in a multitude of ways! Also, you can double-click an engram in the engram list to learn it - no need to press the big button for it.

Seeing from Subnautica how you can get attached or emotional about a creature that you basically dont know, you are in for a treat with your dinos. Because inevitably, you are gonna loose some and I remember the terrible feeling when I lost one of my favourite in my playthrough, I legit wanted to stop xD But that is what is good about this game. The losses are meaningful, most of them anyway. Cant wait to see you play more of this, hell I wish I could play the ascended myself but my PC is sadly happy to even run the regular ARK. well for one you can tame any dino you lay your eyes upon, most of the time you have to knock out the dino and feed its respective food, and when it wakes it will be tamed, as long as it doesn't wake prematurely, some dinos you will have to approach and feed them while awake, you have to put the food in your last hotbar slot. also your lvling is fine, because it gets harder, and engrams get more expensive. most carnivores will destroy you so one thing you can do, is if you're being chased by a meat eater, jump on top of or crawl under, or stand beside a big herbivore, like a trike, or a turtle. the carnivore, will hit it and they will fight giving you a sneaky kill. love your content and can't wait to see you play! btw if you think subnautica was bad, you're in for a ride or "swim" i should say.

Here's some tips from a knob to noob. Consider yourself a beach bob. These are pretty vague and intended just to help answer your questions without spolining the experience. 1. Gathering: You get more stone, hide, and wood with the hatchet. You get more crystal, metal, meat, and flint with a pick. 2. Food: berries fill a decent amount of food and water but very slowly. Cooked meats give immediate saturation but dont give water. 3. Berries: The following berries; Tintoberry, Cianberry, Magenberry, Verdberry, Amarberry, and Azulberry are just food. You eat them and tames eat them too. Mejoberries (the dark purple ones) are used for taming. Narcoberries (the black ones) give you magic powers if you eat a bunch. Stimberries (the white ones) refill stamina and decrease poison effects, but they drain your water. 4. Is it friendly? This is the question you must ask any time you encounter something new. If it is doing or has any of the following it is likely not friendly. - eating other creatures - has scary red smoke on its back - chases you - has big claws or teeth. - has feathers - looks fugly Even if it is a "friendly creature" most critters are nuetral. Attacking them causes them to attack back. A fun way to try this is to enroll in the brontosaurus space program by tickling a bronto's legs. 5. Levels and fortitude: You get early levels fast and later levels at a slugs pace. Your on solo so its fine. Now you asked about fortitude. That is a resistance stat. Fortitude increases resistance to the freezing cold, scorching heat, and tranquilzing posions or venoms. Its basically an environmental resistance boost. Number 6 at 17:57 you accesed the quick inventory. By holding Q you bring up a series of mini-hotbars that lets you quicky access things on your inventory. This is useful for consumables so your hotbar can just be for tools. (Please fix this you will torture yourself the whole time if you don't) 7 the M button brings up a map. You discover the rest of the map by travelling. Tip 8 at 19:14 you needed water. Well lucky for you there are several ways to quench your thirst. Swim in the totally freshwater oceans, Lakes, or rivers. Fill up a water skin or water jar and take water to go. Eat berries for a slow fill. Number 9 31:46 there is no fire physics. You could put the campfire in your house and be fine. But creatures you hit with the torch or that stand on a campfire will be set on fire. For now just get your bearings and equip yourself. As far as technical difficulties go this game is chock-full of them. Unfortunately this is an early access title that released less than a week ago so some big bugs are still being worked out. So over these next few weeks your performance should gradually increase with updates. If you want some better performance look up the "volumetric clouds" command and disable those. It does wonders. If you come to love the game you'll be here for a *LONG TIME* if you intend on doing a full playthrough. (At least 3 years 😅) even if your stay is shorter or far longer. Welcome to the community. You are officially a "Survivor" mate.

Some help with the very basics of the game: Different tools have different effectiveness for certain resources, axes are good for wood, hide and stone, pickaxes are good for thatch, meat and flint. Once you have creatures, you can command them by holding down T. Instead of holding E to access the inventory of storage and tames, you can just press F instead. Shift and drag splits item stacks in half, double mouse click transfers one, shift double click transfers five.

Hey Butch, I came across your channel earlier this month and have watched both your Subnautica playthroughs and Sons of the Forest. You're my new favourite survival game let's-player hands down! I've spent hundreds of hours playing the original ark survival evolved so I am super exited to see you playing ark ascended. I'm sure there are loads of other subscribers giving you tips and tricks on the game so I won't bother mentioning anything but I just wanted to say that ark is a great survival game with so much to do and explore, the game doesn't really give you any help though so if you get stuck on how to do anything don't worry about having a 'cheeky google' to find out some info as it was the only way I was able to progress the game. Can't wait to see your adventure unfold, I'm sure you will have a great time and just remember that at any moment things can turn from peaceful to chaotic! So don't worry if you die a lot in the game - especially at the beginning. Also save the game very often as you never know what can happen at any moment. just turned 30? i remember those days, nearly 30 years ago dont feel bad about doing anything you LOVE - do what you love, and you will always love what you do i would offer a ton of advice on ARK, but you asked us not to, except one very small tip, using an axe on tree gives more wood and some thatch, using a pick on tree gives more thatch, some wood, this also follows when you hit rocks (stone/flint), or corpses (meat/hide) You can also repair broken tools but i will let you figure out how (its easy) Sorry if that spoilt anything, but it was the least of spoilers i could give, yet still help a little I love that you enjoy ARK so much
@nekolvr11 Жыл бұрын
Biggest tips I have for the game that are completely technical and not spoiling anything. If you look at the description of the ax and pickax (at least in ase I assume as a the same- console player here 😢) but it says that ax is good for harvesting wood(trees) stone(rocks) and hide(creatures) the pick ax is good for thatch(trees) flint(rocks) and meat(creatures). When a tool/clothing breaks and turns red you repair it instead of crafting a new one. And fire spread is not a thing in this game, don’t worry about setting your structures or anything on fire by having a torch or camp fine in you house. Fire will hurt you or creatures but it won’t set you in fire. Apart from that best of luck on your ark journey it’s amazing to see a fresh player experiencing this fantastic game.

I kinda love that ark does not tell you what to do like most games do, just throws you in the world and says figure it out

I love watching new Ark players, especially since I've been with the game 8 years now and can never again re- experience the game, but I can enjoy the reactions and growth of others. Welcome to the Ark survivor! 💚

When he finished his house, the music, the sense of accomplishment! If only james Earl Jones or Morgan Freeman would've said, "Welcome to Ark Butch, Now you will begin!" 🤣😆. As an ark player since preview, I enjoy watching bobs learning the game and its depths for the first time. Excellent video!.👍

We all remember this excitement of playing for the first time. His mind is gonna explode as he learns more mid and high level stuff the game has to offer. Always wonder how some people aren’t into this game!

Great reaction to the intro cutscene. ARK has a really deep and complex lore and back story to it, which is being adapted into an animated TV series (when it will come out who knows)

After the first 10 minutes of this vid I already felt like Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies: "Oh, your pain will be exquisite." To build up that enjoyment so early and to know the frustration, anger, and rage quitting ahead. I have to see it. It's the spike into the vein. It's that first hit. The anticipation of knowing how much his life will suck and his complete inability to quit. Fahq. There goes my day.

Bruv, I'm just gonna tell you now: every single video you drop of ARK is gonna get a Like from me and I'll probably put the playlist on repeat when I go to bed to give me some background noise and float your views a bit. I LOVE this freaking game lol, and getting to see one of my favorite more-recently-discovered KZbinrs get a kick out of checking it out is making me hella happy. I sunk HUNDREDS of hours into ARK: Survival Evolved and am currently rabidly chomping at the bit waiting for console release so I can play Survival Ascended on my PS5. ASE was pretty nice to look at sometimes, ASA is one of the prettiest games I've ever seen lol. ARK isn't the most forgiving game, as I'm sure you've already discovered and will continue to discover as you get a little courage and start exploring a bit. It can take a lot of trial-and-error to figure out the nuts and bolts of it all, though fortunately it does look like ASA has improved the user interface a bit and it seems a bit more intuitive than the original version. But man, any of the stress and frustration it piles on you just pales in comparison to how incredibly satisfying it can be once you start to really come into your own and hit some of those survival milestones. That feeling you get when you're proudly standing in front of your first thatch hut? It ain't gonna stop, there are a million things to do and see in this game and every hurdle you conquer is going to give you that hit of sweet, sweet serotonin lol. Whatever you decide you want to put into this game? Count me in. I'm with ya till the end of the line on this one, mate. :D

Hey Man, just found this video/channel, and I'm loving your energy and enthusiasm. I love ARK, and wish I could be playing it again for the first time, so I relate entirely to what you mentioned in the video. I wish you the best with discovering the beauty, and some frustrations, with ARK. I'm gonna catch up on the other videos before I give any advice, as I'm sure you have gotten a ton already. Hope you enjoy the game, and continue to do well in your own life, all the best!
