Yes it is. Just set the trigger to "fret" and it will play notes from the fretboard without any touchpad input. More details here: mosiaudio.com/pages/nova-manual#play-modes

Is that electrical tape on the touchpad? I would imagine it would be handy if you have some elaborate zoning setup.

It's vinyl tape with a matte finish: www.amazon.com/dp/B08BJ7W9X1 Yup would work well for zoning too.
