I Played Blasphemous 2 | Hands On Impressions

In this video we show off New Blasphemous 2 Gameplay, Insights, Lore and Concept Art. I was lucky enough to be invited to the Blasphemous II preview event in Seville to meet The Game Kitchen Development Team and play the game.
I had an hour with the game itself, took part in a Q&A session and got a sit down with the Lead Level Designer and a Member of the Production Team. In this video I will provide as much information as I was able to garner from this event and give my impressions of the Game.

If you don't mind answering a question though, did you find any unique special attacks and were they tied to the skill trees or something else?

The Game Kitchen have impressed so much with the first game that this sequel becomes an eagerly awaited day one instant purchase. My only regret is that we don't get to be backers this time around. Hoping for a special edition with a book that showcases all the jaw-dropping art.

The idea of getting to choose different starting weapons that directly effect your traversal options gives me an idea. What if the the different weapons you can choose to start with, determines which one of multiple different bosses you get to fight at the end of the first level?

Having different weapons is an amazing choice it helps so much with replayablity, I really hope that more RPG elements are implemented, the first game was amazing but I never felt I wanted to replay it because I've already done everything, and I hope they worked out a better NG+ instead of just the game is harder.

I’m glad to see the platforming improved, especially removing the insta kill spike penalty for failing traversal. That was really my only complaint that hurt the first game for me. Brought what could easily be a 9/10 game to a 7/10. In every other game I can think of in this genre, you take a damage penalty and respawn at the beginning of the screen. I really enjoyed the tuning of the difficulty in the combat, but the punishing nature of the traversal and platforming was such a big disconnect for me and ended up being the major reason I never finished the last couple bosses and bonus dlc.

Blasphemous stole my heart from the moment I saw the cover art. The visual style, the music, and the story are all in line with some of my favorite styles, and it really scratched a Fromsoft itch I've always got. Super excited for the sequel, and so jelly you got to see some concept art in person! Honestly want to get my hands on a Blasphemous artbook, it's so beautiful.

I guess the one thing that kept me from considering Blasphemous 1 an all time great was because of the movement… Jumping from small platform to small platform never felt intuitive, it just felt so frustrating trying to get where you needed to go and that hurt the experience. If Blasphemous 2 is even a little better with its movement, this will be fantastic

I so badly wanted to work on Blasphemous 2 -- I applied for an artist position when they had openings, and suffice it to say, I wasn't hired, but man, what an honor that would have been. In honor of the announcement I've been going through 5BC Dead Cells wearing The Penitent One skin. I started my second playthrough of Blasphemous a few weeks ago, and forgot how steep the difficulty was. Lol! I was reminded very quickly when I reached the battle with Tres Angustias. My first playthrough I was humbled by Our Lady Of The Charred Visage. The difficulty is just one great part of what makes this game a classic.

The thing about the first game's soundtrack for me is that each piece fits its location so well, it's as if the music is part of the air in that region...like it's a natural phenomenon that emanates from the buildings and the streets and the far-off places in the parallax. I think even the two expansions of the first game lost a touch of that charm, while still having great music. That's how well Mr. Viola pulled off the original's soundtrack. I'm very excited to hear what he's come up with for this second game.

What a good news! Thank you for bringing us some new information about Blasphemous. I started watching your channel right at the time when I was looking for answers about what the hell was going on in Blasphemous couple years ago and, after that, watched most of lore videos about Elden Ring when they came out! Meanwhile, before the ER DLC and Blasphemous 2 haven't came out, I would like to recommend you to try Grime - another great metroidvania game with very special vibe and much intriguing story. I feel like you'll even be interested in trying to find out what is the story of the bizzare world in some time before new releases ;-)
