The atmosphere in these 2 games are entirely unique, which is what I love most about it...

I just beat it. I loved the first game but this one was disappointing: 1. As you say, it’s very safe. They are still stealing verbatim from SOTN (warps, elevators…) 2. It’s way too easy to the point of being boring. Most bosses can be beaten on the 2nd or 3rd try. Regular enemies pose almost no danger 3. The red disc prayer is completely OP 4. There is basically no penalty for death. You can get back your lost guilt anytime so there is no need to pick up your “bloodstain” again 5. Most of the weapon power ups are useless and I never used them except the one that replenishes your health 6. The music is good but the first game was better 7. I quickly got loads of money but there’s nothing really to spend it on Still a fun game I guess but I was hoping for so much more 6/10

Although I’m having a blast playing this one there are some things I miss from the original. Like the executions. In the first game every enemy had a unique execution animation. They stick with a basic animation in this one, minus a few unique kills for certain enemies. Also, although I do appreciate never getting lost or confused in any way and always knowing where to head next, I sort of miss the more cryptic nature of the first one. It felt more souls like, whereas this one feels much more metroidvania like. In any case, I can’t wait for the DLC and some possible new skins.

Blasphemous is one of my favourite games of all time, and surely the best metroidvania in my opinion. The artstyle, the setting, the sense of dread... Pure gold. I would have bought it blindfolded, but now that it has an 89% from you guys I gonna buy it with a lighter heart. Thank you!

B1 had better tone, atmosphere, characters, and storytelling. B2 had better gameplay, exploration, and map design. I feel like B2 also missed the mark on art direction since most of the areas and enemies were forgettable compared to the distinct gothic horror style of the first. Also, it was way too EZ.

Think a point or two more in the value section would be better, 20 to 30 hours for a normal run is a lot and is perfect for this kind of game, yes Hollow Knight spoiled us with the price and length but everything else from your review was perfect. Thanks for your videos !!

The 1st Blasphemous is one of my favorite metroidvania. Play it! 😋 Just finished Persona 5 Royale with cheese a few days ago and now Im currently playing Ender Lilies. My god Ender Lilies is a damn good metroidvania too. Highly recommend it!

I'm a bit afraid of the difficulty, but I guess if I get it physically I can still resell it...and I've had Ender Lilies in my shopping cart for import so often now, it's a bit silly. Maybe next time I'll actually go through with it and buy it 😂 I'm a bit sad I missed out on the Japanese Collector's Edition, it was quite nice, but oh well.

@@Anni_ka my potato PS4 is still dead. The fan is busted and i think the thermal paste is kaput too. And some other problems i think. Siiigh... I'll just get a digital version ps5 someday soon. My new arcade stick controller that i bought before my ps4 died is collecting dust if i cant play my SF6... 😥😓 Ender Lilies is a beautiful game! If you like metroidvanias it's a must play. 😋

Although, depending on how second-hand prices are where you live, I'd say go for the disc version cause finding good deals for physical games is much easier. I think it equals out the higher price point of the disc version. Oh and I'd also recommend getting some external storage thingy, cause games add up quickly 🫠 Urgh, I know...maybe I can find a good deal for it next time I'm shopping for physical Switch games 😅

Nice review! Been looking forward to this for a while now. Currently playing crowsworn demo on steam and now this next week! Cant wait. Delighted to hear platforming was improved. I felt it was a bit wonky in the first. Big pity about the new cutscene style. I MUCH prefer the original pixel style for cutscene.

Blasphemous is one of my all time favorite metroidvanias, and I can't wait to play this one. My only gripe with this at first glance is the notable absence of Mea Culpa, the iconic weapon from the first title. Hopefully there will be ways to unlock it or something.

Exactly what I wanted from a sequel! Two of my other favorite MV’s, Salt and Sanctuary and Axiom Verge, totally muffed their sequels trying to take risks. For games as great as these, I just want more of the same with improvements, sounds like that’s what we’re getting!

So wait, I’m a little confused. Near the beginning you say that we can choose only one of the three main weapons, yet later on you talked about switching weapons. Are those other weapons like sub weapons of some kind? Or do you later gain access to the other main weapons as the game progresses?

How are the load times? Entering areas is that uncut and expected that exact 2 second black screen? And death loading times and boot time what be nice to kno especially for games that have this gen vs switch. I’m leaning towards switch for these types new double dragon had quite the load

I am a huge souls fan through and through but imo nothing comes close to the world of blasphemous. This game is dripping in atmosphere and oozes disgusting beauty. The music is second to none and I cannot wait to explore this gruesome and glorious world.

I've never played the first one as I've only in the last year or so become a big fan of Soulslikes (and much more recently been trying more Metroidvanias). I feel this game was a miss compared to the first. The first one felt so unique to me but this one just felt like another regular metroidvania. I felt the boss fights weren’t as fun as well and the story and lore didn’t suck me in like the first one did

silksong is supposed to be about 5 times the size of the first hollow knight, and i've seen people say they wouldn't pay $30 for it, simply because it's an indie game. that's just stupid to me. imo the first hollow knight is easily worth $60. it's bigger, more fun, and more polished than many triple a games that cost $60+. hollow knight is already a huge game, the biggest metroidvania i've played by far, so if silksong is actually 5 times bigger, i'd gladly pay $60 for it. i hope they at least charge $30, they deserve at least that. they could have split it into 4 games that are all a little bigger than the original hollow knight, and sold them for $20 a piece. unlike aaa developers though, they're not simply thinking about how they can weasel their fanbase out of as much money as possible.
