As a DLS player myself, I can confirm that it wasn’t just your team that was too good, the AI in DLS are just too bad, I literally beat Real Madrid 11-1. Also one feature in DLS you missed was that when you buy players from other teams they actually don’t play for that team any longer and you can end up with some crazy transfers, like courtois at inter, Alvarez at real, etc.

You should play Total Football. It’s a very good game with incredible graphics at top performance and it simulates FC’s UT and even has a little manager career mode added to it. It even has a stadium editor, kit creator and more. You should try it.

I suggest that pls next time your doing a rebuild use a better club and make hard challenges like they need to score goals of atleast 70ovr after a season or they must win a trophy each season or any game played with a match rating lower than 5.0 u will sell them or after a season each of the main line up rating must be higher that 84 . Just make good challenges for u to achieve with a bigger club like real Madrid which will give u more options for making a rebuild
