I'm one of those weirdos who didn't find an issue with the control scheme of Uprising in the slightest, however if the controls are that big of an issue to you but you still want to experience the rest of what the story has to offer, Chuggaaconroy has a REALLY well made let's play on the game. I'd highly recommend checking that out.

I loved the Original Kid Icarus (NES) on the 3DS. The gameplay is just so rewarding when you get better at it. It reminds me of those games that you have to keep playing to get better at similar to hades. Extremely rewarding.

Agreed with the controls. I actually ended up using the secondary control scheme offered. Where aiming the reticle is used with he four face buttons on the right. It feels a little more natural. Since your right hand is already going to be hovering over the R button I used my thumb to direct the reticle. It felt way better on ground. Though it did take some getting used too. Did you try this control scheme?

This game on a console would be amazing. 90% of the complaints people have with this game are about the controls which get resolved by having a second joystick and more buttons. Upscale the visuals, add a few quality of life changes, maybe add a few new items and gamemodes and bam, you have a hit!

Myths and Monsters is super underrated. Really hope this comes to NSO and that more people give it a shot. I personally never had any issues with Uprising's controls, but I guess I kinda get it? Still, the touchscreen controls give you a level of speed and precision that you can't get with standard dual analog, and even gyro aiming could be a struggle with constantly having to re-center the pointer in such a fast paced game. So I'm not sure if you can actually port the game without some major overhaul.

Kid Icarus ist probably my second Most played Game with 98% competition and all stages on 7.0 or higher. I Loved the Coop mode and played it so much with my little Brother which May Play a huge nostalgica faktor. I personally Loved the controls but that may be also the case because I grew up with the Legend of Zelda phantom Hourglas and Spirit Tracks which use the Touchscreen for 90% of the Game play. But If someone isn't used to this kind of Control I can get behind why the controls could be awful for some.

Kid Icarus is a game series with a lot of potential. Funny characters, great music and some nice and interesting ideas. But the games theirself feels a bit hasty and poorly executed. If they gave Pit'n'pals a bit more love and structure, I'm sure this series could be renewed to greatness. Like a kind of action filled Zelda type of game, with more focus on action skills than solving puzzles. But still a world where you could buy goods by credit cards, getting transformed to an aubergine and cured by a hospital. It got something nice in it's soul, this series, but it needs a bit more love from the game makers.

Kid icarus uprising might be my favorite game on the 3ds hands down and quite high on my list of favorite games of all time to. I got this game when it just came out and 3ds at the exact same time and became one of my favorites. Saying that the controllers god dam. Their is no way to save that aspect of the game and it blows so hard. Even emulating it is just so fundamentally annoying and even worse then just playing it on the 3ds itself. But hopefully with the recent leaks and bits of info we have like Masahiro Sakurai asking in one of his videos if people would like to see the game on home console, The recent job opening at Nintendo about recreating a action game, and a inconsistent leaker talking about a kid icarus remake months before the other two bits of news on top of the recent mario movie having a bit of mario playing kid icuras the og game (which is kind of weird to see that being shown off instead of something like zelda or metroid which are way more popular then some IP that barely anyone knows). With these small bits im super hopeful to see a popular remaster and revision of the game so more people could see how good it was and hopefully get kid icuras a staple IP at Nintendo like the rest of their line up!

*My advice* play this only if you also get the stand with the game, or make a costom stand. (3d print or wood or something if you can) The controlls are really fine, you just need to set it up to make it work, but trust me, once it works it works. And at some point, your leg will do just fine. Trust me.

If the design of KiU strikes you as simular to smash, it's because the maker of smash, Sakurai, usually designs his games with the previous game he made in mind. If you look at the basic main menue for every game he made, you can clearly make out how his design evolved. Going from smash, to kirby air ride back to smash, KiU and back to smash 3DS. And prolly somethings i missed.

While I understand your sentiment, I believe that a overcoming a genuinely uncomfortable control scheme and "getting gud" are two different concepts entirely. I could complete the game with the controls that are built-in, but it actively hurts the experience for me. I would rather wait, possibly in vain, for a better version of the game to release or just not ever finish it. It's a great game, I just don't want to deal with the controls anymore 😅

​@@Niosai don't get me wrong, it's not a bad video, just that the title really is underwhelming when there's literally 3 games plus 1 "remaster" lol Also, movement in KIU, I've seen a lot of people complaining exactly like you did, but honestly, I beaten this on citra mobile, I had to use a digital circle pad and let me tell ya, it's not comfortable, if I can do that, anyone can beat KIU, also you can customize how fast the camera controls, how fast it goes left to right and up to down, if it's inverted, how fast it stops after you drag it, and you can use the face buttons as a camera also, so there is a lot of options to try and find your best solution, just don't sleep on this game, best game on the system

I didn't even have a problem with the controls it's the level and enemy designs which are truly bad. Fans of the game definitely haven't played very many rail shooters. They need to go play Space Harrier, Time Crisis, House of the Dead, Panzer Dragoon, or even some SNES light gun games. A proper frame of reference of what's good is needed to know that something is bad. To sum it up for anyone who doesn't like the genre enough to dive into it Kid Icarus' levels just don't have very much going on. The action/third person shooter levels are much the same. Enemy layout doesn't challenge the player. Having a lottery system for unlockables rather than a skill based one only served to waste time, the difficulty slider is a terrible idea and it's no wonder it hasn't caught on as only the hardest, the easiest, and the default difficulties really matter, and most normal human beings will despise the cringe worthy writing. It's one of those games people played as young children that they look back on with rose-coloured glasses for a simpler time.
