Great video. I live in a small town of around 5,000 people and Squirtle Community Day here brought out lots of players, many more than usual. I've managed to create a decent group of raiders over the years for Raid Night simply by just asking people if they were playing the game. It doesn't hurt that I've also had more than 20 poke stops approved in the last 3 years. Awesome to see you help the players create a route. Keep up the great videos.

The rural Pokémon go scene has definitely been ignored by Niantic. A few of the smaller communities in my area, despite a healthy number of monuments and landmarks, have almost nothing for pokéstops. Even the obvious park areas around walking paths, soccer fields and baseball diamonds generally aren’t indicated as such in the game, thus spawns are quite sparce.

I'm visiting family in a small town in eastern Ontario (where i grew up) and although i haven't connected with the community here, the playing is kind of OP. Every time i come i try and submit as many pokestops as possible and the spawns in some places are better than in my city. Sometimes i prefer it, though raiding here sucks since the remote nerf. Ive been submitting routes while im here, too.

This was a really fun story-like video and matches my experience visiting relatives in rural Gratz and Lykens PA and we took it home to Baltimore which is a more challenging in that it can be so crowded that people are a little spooked by approaching strangers unlike being a stranger in town where people expect visitors to get lost. My nephews out there got us into this again a little over a year ago. Glad the visit ended well/happily (happinily?)

My town is even smaller than that town in terms of population but bigger in area (stretches out along a small river). We had a relatively large community that would get together in cars to do raid hours until COVID reduced a lot of player interest. There's still a decent number playing but rarely in groups more than family (and remote raids). I did run into another one of the players during community day, while I was walking the route I made in the local parks. As he was walking the path too in 90 degree heat i assume that he was walking the route too. Because our group was so active before the pandemic and for a few months into it, we actually have a large number of stops for a town our size (1250-1500 in city limits, about 15-20 thousand in the entire county). Over 30 stops in town or within 2km of town, 11 gyms, and another 6-10 stops out deep into the county. I can't be sure of the exact numbers because some areas have no cell service or only through one small regional carrier, and there's at least two stops I only know about because people send me gifts from them that I assume were fetched by their buddy Pokemon. And, the town of Oneida at the edge of the county is another place of mystery because since I don't have service there and there's no public WiFi i can't see if there's any stops there.

Just 5 pokestops in the entire town, one of them located in the public pool which is closed and thus unreachable half the year... And i've never met another player there, except for my brother. Participating in raids definitely isn't possible there, due to lack of arenas as well as players. But cheers to you for finding some players, that is amazing!!! And they knew you too. How cool 🎉👍

Just to add the unheard Rural player pov: Good luck taking on a Lugia with that 4 stack. Daxi is 50, but I doubt the other 3 are. Or maybe a better point is what would the 2 in town do without Daxi plus one. Shadow raids, elite raids just completely out of reach for rural players.

I have never actually been able to raid any local raids because it’s just been me and my sister playing, and it’s quite frustrating living in a small town as well as being in the Uk because in the States it’s pretty much normal for a random person on the street to ask you something, but in the Uk, it’s not really accepted in social circumstances so even tho I know there is one or two players that are around my area it would be kinda weird for me and my sister to go around asking, so we just don’t do local raids😢 And also there are no routes in my area and I’m not at the level to nominate routes yet so 😢😢😢 Great video👍

Safe to say no one plays there. In fact, anyone living there who happens to play the game would just drive or take the bus down to Quebec city (or walk??? I am pretty fit, but i am drenched in sweat just going outside for 5 minutes. The air feels like a blowtorch and the sun burns so bad that you can feel your skin getting crispy like a piece of bacon. 3 layers of SPF 100 didnt safe me from getting burned here - its ridiculous.
