Batman Arkham Shadow made me hugely optimistic for Quest 3 version. Hitman 3 destroyed my optimism. I really hope this looks as good as Batman at least and the lighting is good.

I'm a very big fan of the Metro series and I plan to buy a Quest 3 just to play this game, but I don't really have a good pc. Does anybody know if you can play such games on just the quest, without a gaming pc connection? Because on the internet it just usually says that you don't need a computer to use a Quest 3, but I don't know if it's good enough to handle such a game

Yea it will work on just your quest, the graphical fidelity won't be the same as on a PS5 or PC, but you will be able to play it start to finish!

I find vertigo games to be reskins of the same base gameplay loop with little to no atmosphere. There was an Indie VR game that was given a cease and desist because it was deemed too similar to the metro series (presumably to bolster this game), which had tons of atmosphere and had a really passionate single dev behind it. Will see what comes of this but if it is anything like after the fall or the first arizona sunshine I don't have much hope for it.

You can search right now, there's a 25 min gameplay video made by GamertagVR, it looks nothing like those cheap wave shooters they made before and it's choke full of atmosphere, it is so good that it probably makes up for what seems like mediocre combat.

It's a double edged sword. Quest is bringing VR forward by making cheap headsets and a good store. Bringing in more users. But quest is also holding VR back due to graphical and feature limitations. Some games might look better on the PC version, but because it was made for the Quest as well, features that they may have wanted for the game are omitted because the Quest can't handle it. Like larger maps, more players, more complex systems, etc. I believe we would be much further ahead if everybody had midrange gaming PCs. But that's just not the reality. Overall, I'm glad the Quest is on the market. But it can be frustrating knowing what we could have if gaming PCs were more popular.

I have a high end PC, I love my PC VR games. That being said. I'd take wireless, quest 3 with QUEST GAME OPTIMIZER, QGO is the game changer. Id take this every time no questions asked. I played both quest 3 enhanced breachers and than breachers on PC through virtual desktop. The grain on PC makes it much less visually appealing than the quest 3 enhanced and quest game Optimizer resolution enhancement breachers on a quest 3 standalone. This is the same for contractors, quest 3 with QGO makes this just as visually pleasing to ME as it does when I played on PC. Pop 1 as well, i use to play pop one on PC until I got the quest 3 with it's enhancements. And it's laggier on my PC atleast through VD. Just my opinion. I'd take a quest 3 every time 100%

@@ImTooLockedIn For me what makes PCVR vs Quest native clear is Into the Radius. I ended up getting it on the quest natively to compare against the PCVR version and I absolutely prefer the PCVR version even over wireless using VD. Everything from plain lighting and visual range to the effects (e.g. when storing items in the backpack) makes it quite obvious that pcvr is miles ahead and has so much more horse power, and this is from a game that was hamstrung because the dev was planning ahead to release it later natively. The grainyness could be due to bad wifi router to bad VD settings. For instance just the other day I found that SSW stuffs up some UI elements so i ended up switching it off. Also, if you manually tried to tweak bitrates and clarity, reset to defaults. I played for a month with my "tweaked" settings and then one day tried resetting the streaming settings and could instantly see my bitrate/clarity tweaks stuffed up the quality. I have the optimiser app, and for some games things look a lot clearer because of the smoother edges and higher resolution, but I find the games themselves lack visual quality, with something as old as Vertigo 2 (also an indie dev made game) on pcvr already looking better than anything natively running on quest 3 natively (in terms of graphical umph not styling). And thats not evens tarting to talk about something like HL: Alyx that was built for PCVR exclusively.

That’s not true only 2% of steam players play PCVR. Developers stopped making games for PCVR because there was no money in it, not because of the Quest. The only reason we are getting PCVR games again is because the standalone market is big enough to subsidize the sales.

@@natedog805402 Unfortunately it will be smaller in scope than a mainline entry, it’s the nature of releasing on mobile platforms, VR suffers this and it annoys me too but it doesn’t mean the game will be bad just that it had potential to be more after playing a lot of VR games, even ones I really enjoy. I wouldn’t say this is “the next metro game” as it’s a VR spin off, but I get where you’re coming from. I still believe hybrid games are the way forward.

​@natedog805402 Umm what? It was revealed from day 1 as "Metro Awakening VR" every trailer has made it very clear that it was a built from the ground up VR only game. Metro 4 is still in development. The game is also said to be more similar in length and gameplay wise to 2033, which is better. Exodus by far was the worst game in the series, and part of that was the mistake of going more sandbox open world. Metro shines on linear dark underground environments when you never know what's lurking around every corner.

Don't knock Metro Exodus, it's a great game. While the first hour or so of linear gameplay in Exodus is kind of boring, once you get to the first open world area, the game becomes the most immersive flatscreen game I've ever played.
