This is an original story, not based on any specific story, but the characters, their personalities, and their relationships to one another do properly reflect the comics from that time. I loved this game tbh. I played it a ton as a kid when I got my Playstation. It's one of the dozen games I've played multiple times. It was one of the first of anything that introduced me to Spider-Man (other than the animated series and some of the comics). Rino Romano is playing Spider-Man. He was my favorite Spidey VA until Josh Keaton and Yori Lowenthal. He played Spider-Man in this game's sequel, and in the weird Spider-Man Unlimited where Spider-Man gets teleported to Counter-Earth to fight in a revolution against the High Evolutionary (yes the Planet and villain from Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, respectively). I quite enjoy this game's story a lot. You probably missed some, but you can find collectible comics in the environment that unlock iconic comic covers with issue details. There are tons of them, too. Also, you don't have to go in headfirst. When bad guys have guns, you can zip up to the ceiling or to the rafters and get the drop on them. You can use your web attacks to stop them or drop attack them. It'll definitely save you some health. Keep an eye out for other spider emblem tokens. If you haven't found them yet, I won't spoil what they are, but there are a couple really cool ones you can unlock for temporary power-ups.

@@SX1995able well we talk about the end of the 90s so there wasn’t much of it online, but it in terms of magazines and rumors yeah, it totally was a game changer. Before that we never got to play as the Spiderman with such freedom, fun and theme vibes. The poison fog was a clever escamotage to justify not to be able to get nor to see below the buildings. But the game was fun man, Venom, Carnage, Scorpion and the others were all so fun to fight and so well dubbed. People loved the shit out of this game, it was a triple AAA by then. A funny thing was also the fact I had no idea this was coming out (was about 11) so I just got my mother bought it as I saw it a at the store a few days afterwards and it literally blown me away. I simply wasn’t ready. All the other Spiderman for Snes or Gameboy were more about difficulty than fun and experience. Another big positive shock through out the year would had been the movie based Spiderman for ps2 and years after Spiderman 2 (likely the most revolutionary of all) but those are different stories😉

I was born in 1998, this was one of the earliest games I remember playing along with Jump Start, Freddie Fish and SpyFox on the PC. this game was SO LEGENDARY to me! the furthest I got as a kid was the sewers with the reptiles and I got lost I think haha. I remember the first 3 levels like the back of my hand though. its a great game and all the cheats really made the game amazing. I used to play on kid mode to be easy and I used to cycle through all the "kid mode" voices. you also cant put bad words in the cheats section and spidey will punch the characters in the box and make them something funny! another thing this game did right is the costumes, one of them will basically make you invulnerable and do twice damage and have unlimited web. it looked so cool too! I remember beating this game as an adult and it still holds up great. the comic book collectibles you collect (or unlock with the cheats) give you an in depth explanation of spiderman and spidey lore. I knew about Spiderman and Gwen as a 4 year old haha i was distraught to know that spiderman had another girlfriend before mary jane and none of my friends at school believed me because they were all watching Spiderman 1 and never saw gwen, so hence she never existed ever.

You see the punisher and you work with him and the ending is so amazing! spiderman eventually meets up with the AVENGERS! its crazy the ending and journey were done REALLY WELL. (spoiler alert) Venom becomes your friend, and there's so much more that happens! crazy good game

J.Jonah Jameson actually funded the experiment that put the Scorpion in the suit he is in. Ultimately, filled with rage with The Spiderman, he hired a man and promised he'd gain super- human abilities. But the experiment went horribly wrong and resulted in the man being stuck in the suit forever.

This was probably my first video game and I didn’t finish it until I was in middle school because I kept getting lost in the basement of the daily bugle. When I finally finished the level, I zipped through the rest of the game and had fun. I felt so accomplished when I finished the game. But a few years later, the game got messed up and a glitch stops me from chasing venom and he gets away and I deleted the game before that to make room on my memory card so I can’t finish the story anymore and buying a new one is too much. But at least I discovered the sequel in high school and got that

This was my first Spider-Man game too. The one thing I couldnt beat was escaping Monster Ock but I got a ps1 and the game last year to beat it over and over. Still dont regret it. This game has a strong Spider-Man comic spirit. Imo it's why the game still holds up. Spider-Man's actual likeness is timeless.
