I marshaled the new Bobby Jones course the first year it re-opened. 8 tee boxes per hole per 9 holes for each of Azalea and Magnolia. As the starter said they would play either Azalea of Magnolia each day except after it first opened when they would let people play both nines by having a shot gun start and after you finished your hole, you would wait 15 minutes and tee off at the hole adjacent to the hole you finished, only this time you were playing the other course. Not sure if they still do that or not. Bobby Jones used to be a City of Atlanta course but the Jones family was not happy about the family name on a course that they felt was in poor shape so the city gave the course to the state of Georgia in exchange for a parking garage in downtown Atlanta. The course was leveled and the new course was built. As Rick said, there is no rough on the course because the two nine hole layouts overlay each other, but the greens are large, lots of undulation, and very fast.

I can say that from playing the course years ago (in disrepair) until now is such a huge improvement. We love playing there when we get a chance and I gotta remember the MOOD rule because we have only played Azalea. Awesome to see the course repaired after the hurricane as there was major flooding over several of the holes. The course facilities are great as well with a pitch and putt course, an additional putting course, some of the best lessons around and a great driving range. Thanks for the great video Rick. Really enjoyed it.

Also kinda like the travel bits, good to keep trying new things Rick. I know you got a lot of flack for stopping break 75 but this is just as good or even better!
@LemonJelly360Ай бұрын
It is so good to see the variety of content back on the channel. I really enjoy(ed) break 75, but the format has been done to death now across KZbin. Your decision to pause/stop it was absolutely spot on. Also, I don’t think I’ve seen you control your draw as good as this on the channel for a very long time. That isn’t a criticism, as a 10 handicapper I know my place - please take that as the compliment I intended.

Glad you enjoyed a new gem in Atlanta. What has been done to preserve this piece of property is wonderful. I've lived 15 miles north of the course for 34 years. Glad you added the history of the course before you played your second nine. I played the original course when it started to become a goat pasture. Due to physical limitations unable to play the great game right now on the gem. Hey, that's the course I played while in school at Georgia Tech. As a golf course, it's come A LONG WAY since those days in the mid '80's when the fairways were half dried out red Georgia clay mixed with the rest being made of clover patches and maybe a bit of Bermuda and fescue but then again, I think we played it for only 5 or 6 dollars a round.
