In case you are wondering, it is definitely possible to collect those blue gems from each level. It's been such a long time that I can't outright remember what collecting all of them does but it may have been a bonus level or something similar. It was a great to see Dave play this fun little game. I played this long before I even started watching Mario Maker on KZbin, and this game might have been one of the reasons why I enjoy watching Mario Maker players playing troll levels. It's those silly little deaths that surprise you, and then make you think "So, how do I do this then?" until you figure it out. It's when a level breaks your expectations and does things you didn't expect. It can be anything from descending or ascending spikes to blocks breaking under you or a sticky block catching you or even a sudden invisible block appearing. Sure, many of these are things you learn to expect after seeing enough of them but then again, if a game can add new surprises that you aren't expecting, such as deaths in the world map, then I think it's doing a good job. I love watching Dave playing Mario Maker, and not just troll levels but also other levels, but I also greatly enjoy watching him playing some other games once in a while. Especially if it is little gems like Eryi's Action.

I like that they changed her clothes for the water levels. It always bugged me that Mario would be wearing wet and heavy overalls during and after a water level.

But she still had her clothes after leaving the area. 🤔 Had them in a ziplock bag, and stuffed in her bra? Who cares? But it would be funny to see 8bit Mario forced to be in his boxers until he got a power-up.

That final boss fight is almost directly a reference to Nightmare phase 1 from Kirby's Adventure, down to the intro sequence and how slow the boss's HP drops. The fight is obviously less bullet h*ll in the NES game. Only thing missing is the vertical scroll that doubles as a time limit before the ground crushes you. My immediate reaction was "no freaking way, they referenced that!? That's my childhood right there!"

I hope this video is able to get the same type of traction as his MM2 content. I love those vids, of course, but would like to see him more frequently branch into other games. It might take some time to get a more consistent viewership on his non-Mario vids, but I think with time he'd be able to attract those are interested in other games, to fill in for the ones who are only here exclusively for MM2. Personally, I'm here for Dave's inability to keep his foot out of his mouth, and this video certainly delivered, haha As for this one, it's kind of a strange game. Certainly some clever tricks, but also a handful of trolls that kind of give you a vibe of little timmy. Of course this was 2013 standards, and while I'm not a historian of troll games/levels, I'm guessing the scene & expectations were a little different from where the are now nearly 10 years later. Would be like comparing level design in Mario 64 to Mario Galaxy I suppose.

Dave, I have to be honest. Your troll videos are my least favorite to watch. They don't look enjoyable to play and I don't know how those who enjoy these type of levels/games find them as such. I watch these videos of yours for the fun commentary mostly.
