I played Infinite World in high school and it, along with Tenkaichi 3, were my favorite DBZ fighters. I remember doing every fight on the highest difficulty. I didn't find it too difficult.

Buu's Fury was also a very solid one, even if it might've made things a little too easy since you can beat on enemies against the wall and don't have to worry about ping ponging them. Wrapped things up nicely, though.

Fun fact if you ever want to see the sprites from dbz ultimate battle 22 in a good game, Shin Butoden for the Saturn is basically a remake port of battle 22 that only re uses the sprites but uses the fighting mechanics of the snes Butoden series, fixes the stages and gives characters actually anime accurate beams and projectiles.

I don't think it's crazy at all. Maybe the dev team assigned was different, maybe the other devs quit, maybe they had less people and time and were given worse tools to work with. These issues are pretty common in every industry/work. In fact, that's what the video implies, right? These issues are almost a standard, sadly.

There's a good game hidden in Sagas that was probably rushed out the door. I mean Jesus fuck why was I getting sniped by enemies I can't melee. Nobody would release a game in that state unless executive tomfoolery was allowed run rampant.

Infinite World is like a quality of life update version of Budokai and is one of the BEST DBZ games, however I can see why the reviews at the time would be low given it is basically a title update to B3.

Infinite World is on this list for the sole reason it came out wayyyy too late, burst limit and raging blast were already the talk of the town dbz games and this one flew so far under the radar, even with the AI being hard IW is definitely the best of the budokai series and it’s only really comparable to 3 imo.

the AI was bugged and the devs missed it as an oversight. Even on Easy, the boss fights in the storymode still have 6-7 health bars and attack with insane combos. The removal of dragonrush was a positive, but there are a few oversights that prevent the game from being a classic like B3.

Good video, but I have to say that Final Bout was not an "early" 3d fighter. It came out around the same time as Virtua Fighter 3 and Tekken 3 and they both look a whole generation ahead lol. Especially VF3 which still looks great to this day.

I haven't played Infinite World since it released in 2008. I....do not remember enjoying it, the story mode was cool but the AI wasnt just hard, it felt cheap, atleast for a 13 year old me, who spent most of his time playing Tenkaichi 3 in those days. All fights felt like they devolved into spamming supers back and forth, not because thats how I wanted to play, but if i didnt throw an attack, they sure as hell would, I especially remember Kid Buu being a nightmare and after I beat the game, I just put it down and went back to playing Tenkaichi 3. Maybe its aged better over time, but I have absolutely no fond memories of that game.

IW is known for have broken AI, and its a pretty clear oversight from the devs. I've tested it on Very easy and Very hard, and the enemy still has the same behavior and attack pace.

Saga's is a guilty pleasure of mine. Its not the best, but I remember having so much fun with it alongside playing with my friends. One of us would play as Broly and just screw everything up for the other just for stupid fun. I didn't like Infinite World either. Just felt unpolished compared to Budokai 3 imho. And I know for a fact I didn't care for the most of the handheld DBZ games other than the Legacy of Goku trilogy. I'm so glad I skipped out on getting a PSP, cause fuck Evolution... Ugh... -_- I did play this a lot with friends, it was bad. but it was all we had atm. I'm more surprised you didn't even touch Ultimate Tenkaichi. That one is so bad!

I have a Japanese version of Ultimate Battle 22 that I got for Christmas when I was like 13 - around 2004. My dad special-ordered it from Japan, and you had to have this special equipment to play it on an American PS1. I was SO stoked when I got the game, but I didn't realize how bad it was at the time. Now I realize it's the worst-rated DBZ game ever lmao.

I'm not going to lie, I actually like Ultimate Battle 22, and I feel it gets such a bad rap, it's a game from 1995 that got released in the United States in 2003. It's basically a game that would've been at home on SNES/Super Famicom, but instead it's a game that a shining example of how developers were having difficulty figuring out what can and cannot be done with the PlayStation.

Infinite World absolutely got shafted by critics, due to it coming out during the fighting game "dark ages", which had a majority of critics having zero love or understanding of fighting games beyond "mash buttons". Turns out it's arguably better than Budokai 3 in terms of the fighting gameplay.

So growing up, I never really hated any of the games I'd played at that point. Yeah, I didn't really like Legacy of Goku 1 (and needed to hit some cheat codes in to finish the game), and I was indifferent about Ultimate Battle 22 (although I do acknowledge it's bad), but then Sagas came along. This was the first game I remember actively hating. I thought it looked like a 3D version of the Legacy games when I saw the commercials. I finished it the same night I got it, and it was probably the first game I regretted asking for. I think that the worst thing about it was the lack of power you felt in the game. Even when you went through and played as Broly in the bonus game modes, it felt like you did less damage in the stage replays than in the main stages. So you didn't even get any power fantasy out of the game upon slogging through the awful story mode.

Even if it was objectively a bad game, at least DB Final Bout had an awesome intro, sung by Hironobu Kageyama, and we always let it play fully. It was also fun to figure out things on your own, like how to do the Genkidama or some of those "long combos" when playing with your friends back in the day. Just because of those precious memories built around it, i think it was worth buying it back then. On the other hand, I really did not like Super Dragon Ball Z for the PS2.

In the "chore to play" category, I think that Super Saiya no Densetsu for the SNES would be close to the top. While I personally kinda like the combat, this JRPG is terri...bly...slow. It has a high random encounter rate, and quickly the variety of enemies are exhausted. On the plus side, you can do minor what-ifs, such as turning Gohan into an Oozaru during the battle against Vegeta, and all of the human crew can survive, to fight alongside Gohan on Namek. I like the ideas of the combat system, but it could have used a lot of QOL and refinement to be actually good.

Actually, there is a 2d fighting game named DBZ sagas and is Mexican, italian or russian idk the language but its pretty sick game. It has lots of characters and its 2d fighting game. It is 1v1 or 2v2 and so many stages with chars having cool moves.

I'm glad Sagas was on the list since it's my least favorite of the DBZ games I've played, I know I played a bit of A legacy of Goku game, but it was my older brother's so I didn't play much of it and I don't remember which one it was, probably 1 if I were to guess, but hard to say for sure. That all said the very first Budokai game remains my favorite DBZ game.

Not the worst, but imo the most disappointing DBZ game is Ultimate Tenkaichi. At the time the graphics looked awesome, you got to make your own character, and there was a brand new story to play through with your character so you weren't stuck with the same Raditz through Buu recap we've all played in a dozen other games. Fast forward to actually playing it: the whole combat is just rock, paper, scissors; you're basically forced to slowly grind for levels; and the create a character's story was just bottom tier fanfiction. Genuinely my hype level for a game that wasn't an unfinished product has never gone from 10 to 0 so quickly.
