The fact that this still sounds sad and melancholic shows that even on just a compositional level this song was written to be tragic. Props to you for managing to translate that so well with only the piano, not to mention zero usage of technology to mix & master it. For what it's worth I think your year-long efforts were worth it.

This is a perfect example of being too overambitious. Better to play an easy piece well, than struggling to just hit the correct notes in a difficult piece. That's like me on the organ, I have so many film music pieces I wanna learn, but I know I don't have the skill, so my time is better used learning tons of easier pieces, and sourcing out the difficult ones to people who are better than me, and have the church pay these organists to come and perform these pieces in a concert. Know your limits and be smart with your time.

The so called "mistakes" actually makes it better imo, at least in the context of this song. The song is pretty much about Kaneki's inner struggles, so having the "mistakes" in there added a layer of how Kaneki struggles with his ghoul and human half, how he rejects it, but it is also now a part of him that is Irreplaceable. The lower notes going ham in 2:23 also kinda fits. The lyrics in that part is "動けない/Ugokenai" which means "I can't move" the low notes is his Ghoul side trying to taking over, but the high notes keeps playing normally is his Human side trying to stay in control.

I'm here to judge you the good way. The nervousness that you feel is the longing of sharing your joy of something combined with fear of negative criticism/ruining what you want it to personally be. Speeding up in a live performance can add to the musical effect, if you're not performing a strict classical piece for a snob society I don't think it really matters. It can be a bad habit or a good one, in this case it wasn't particularly bad at all. Playing something perfectly that you did not personally create is like saying "I can basically do what no human can do to begin with". Quite literally perfection does not exist except in a subjective world. Objectively perfection is the quality you wish to achieve which is a personal (subjective) thing just the same. Like it's technically bad practice to want to be like a robot. It really takes away dynamic context completely to do-so. I.E when composers create a modern solo piano composition or arrangement they generally say "I would like to see x interpretation of this" which quite literally means they WANT other pianists to play it differently to gather more depth of perspective! (Or in many cases as simple as wanting to appreciate their creations in a different way.) There are more ways to bring a SINGLE musical works to life than there are stars in the sky. Now that we have cleared up your position, the origins position, the reality of perfection, and the importance of perspective-- This only leaves the audience. The audience in 99% of cases are nowhere near the level you are neither physically nor mentally. They have no idea when you make a mistake, they have no idea what speed it's supposed to be, they don't know what key you are playing in, they don't even know what Tokyo Hhoul even is or what the original composition sounds like!!! None of this matters to an untrained listener. What matters is what you did, rocked it in a way any normal listener could enjoy in a 5 minute sitting. With all that said, BRAVO!!!!!!!!!! It was an excellent performance of an extremely high level postmodern piano arrangement, even including MULTIPLE variations of arrangements. There are people who would only "do better" because people know their names, rather than "they played it better". There are people who could literally "play it better" but they don't matter, they weren't sitting at the grand piano that night, you were!
@NinjaChan-f5i9 ай бұрын
@@Pescen1517 To judge something is to develop an opinion/conclusion about something. It doesn't mean literally to look down on somebody or to think negatively about them. It's just more common in humans to develop negative conclusions so people take that as a given. You're possibly mistaking a dismissive comparison as a "consolation" which is simply to exclaim that ones relationship with their instrument and affect on the audience has nothing to do with anybody else bu themselves. Or perhaps you read like 10 words and arrived at conclusions to judge my words without taking the time to understand what I have said.
@NinjaChan-f5i9 ай бұрын
@@Pescen1517 In fact, i'll humor myself by replying to this more literally: Feedback points I made in my previous comment: 1. Nervousness is normal 2. Tempo that doesn't comply with an original score/arrangement marking does not = bad for solo performance typically. 3. Humans are humans and perfection is a matter of perspective. (Literally means it isn't real, it's just one persons ideal of what is perfect to them!) 4. Not playing like a robot is a good thing. (I don't think this requires clarification? I hope not anyway it's pretty obvious from how I worded it in the original comment.) 5. Any given piece of music is subject to difference and no single human is subject to impose a change against the creativity of another musician. (Literally means you can do whatever you want with music, including making your own genre destroying arrangements of any given piece of music....... Need I say more?) 6. Non-musicians do not hear/notice/realize the things trained ears do. Criticism of ones own self is common in redundant aspects when the reality of live performance pertains to what the audience hears/sees. Not what the top 1% of musical minds in the world think. 7. My final feedback was a combo of "wow that's multiple advanced arrangements nobody has ever actually played like this before, the audience enjoyed it, and so did I." Not a simple "excellent performance of an extremely high level" You aren't even interpreting the words here correctly in how the sentence is arranged. While english mechanics aren't exactly my speciality... It isn't all that complicated. It refers to being a postmodern piece that literally only the top % of pianists in the world even try...? I mean are you just trying to be negative when I commented to be positive & uplifting?

@@Pescen1517 Have you nothing more to say of your troll nonsensical statement being debunked into the ground? Edit: I mean I could start ranting about how you misused the term feedback to begin with by providing an unrelated example for context. Saying someone enjoyed a performance is not constructive criticism, it is expression of appreciation. Stating the level of a piece is not a form of constructive criticism. It is simply a theoretical measurement of difficulty...? Hard to put that any more simply. Fact is, my entire message is littered with messages that could help them improve in countless ways. I don't know why negative little youtube trolls like you need to come along and spread negativity to people even in small corners like this. It's disturbing and regressive. In fact it makes 0 sense at all. I would assume the following about you: 1. You probably don't play piano at all 2. You likely have no education in music nor performance 3. You apparently don't know basic english words such as "judge" (to form an opinion/conclusion) and "feedback" (a form of reaction/interaction which directly correlates to input that provides outlets towards improvement) 4. You're probably a perpetual societal plague who lives off of other peoples misery. 5. I would even go as far as saying you probably don't have any friends or anybody to talk about meaningful things with. Kindly take a moment to consider your words/actions with a logical point of view instead of your personally biased point of view. You might realize you can be a better person soon after!
