What’s your choice? European, hybrid or Chinese style rubbers? 🏓
@Kinetic142310 ай бұрын
My technique isn't that great so I prefer using european rubbers for their ease of use compared to chinese rubbers and the high arc + catapult effect! I should probably have a chinese racket to train with so I can use my equipment to force myself proper technique, but I can't get myself to do it yet 😅

Persson, Waldner, Grubba (RIP), Gatien, Saive, Appelgren, Lindh, Kucharski, Primorac, Roßkopf… the European TT heroes of my childhood. Even had the pleasure of meeting Persson when he came with Grubba and Appelgren to Warsaw back in 1990? 1992? I don’t remember exactly anymore. Such a nice, down-to-earth guy.

Persson did the most amazing recovery scramble-real match-I ever witnessed. It was some 25 years ago and the exact details are lost to my memory; but it was pretty well falling down on his butt, skidding and crawling half the time on the floor from backhand to wide forehand, and (this part I remember vividly)getting back to the backhand, making a flawless low-chop return sitting 10 feet back on the floor, to which his opponent made an excellent short return, but not short enough. JP had anticipated his opponent's return as soon has had made his emergency chop and had got back up on his feet and leaped to the table in a flash and punched home his famous backhand. I have never found video since, and I don't know why it has never become a compilation staple item. It should be in every collection.

Me and my table tennis club were watching the SM live (think it was the SM, long time ago so memory might fail me on details :)) back when I was 14 yo so that would make it back in 1985 and I also got my racket case signed by J-O and Jörgen. Some of us kids even got to play a few balls with them. This was back in 85:ish and I don't think I quite realized back then how big this was.

His control especially on the backhand is amazing. I still remember his match against Ma Long in some Chinese circuit, which he lost, but when Persson drew Ma Long into those backhand-backhand rallies, he almost won every point. Jorgen is a bit overshadowed, but an absolute world-class player who has faced so many generations of players. And what’s more, he’s still looking like he’s got a lot of fire!

Agreed! Persson is very humble. A book about him is even called ”The kind champion”. Quoting from a description of the book: ”During the writing of the biography, all who were interviewed thought that kindness was his most priominent personal trait. He takes the time to sign autograph for all the kids who line up after his tournaments. He gives away edge balls that noone else sees, even during high stakes games. A true role model! Similar to Timo Boll I think.

I have played with a Hybrid Chinese on my BH before (DHS sponge +Friendship top sheet) I used to get from Thailand. It was absolutely phenomenal !!! The counter attacks off the table were effortless and the rotation was out of this world. I was also able to stop the ball and kick in some sort of a chop/block with a reverse spin lightning fast, lots of fun. But this is many moons ago ! Now I play with short pips which drive fast players nuts ! BTW I have also had the pleasure to meet Jorgen "in Persson" (Sorry I could not resist, it was too easy) ... Human beings don't come more humble than that apart from the UNBELIEVABLE knowledge and talent he has. People like him in the Swedish Team will keep producing more talents. Thanks for letting us appreciate him again in the video. (I wonder how many guys from TTD wanted to jump on the table with him... ahahahah)

A1 is the best D09c alternatives I found so far for forehand: much long lifespan than D09c but also lightweight. It's much better than DNA drigon grip (no power), joola dynaryz zgr (too heavy and not controllable as A1, not spin enough). brand new Tibhar K3 might be better than A1 but the lifespan really sucks. D09c is amazing, the Dignics sponge last a long time but the D09c surface of the D09c doesn't last long so it won't grap the ball after 1 month. The downside of A1 is that it might be too thick for backhand, in which case K3 and D09c are much better. Haven't tried A2 though. Have tried A1 on Innerforce Layer ZLC and Viscaria and Stiga CyperShape it's amazing for its price and durability and weight.
@Mallgar10 ай бұрын
A1 was heavier and slower than D09c. (Except of you maybe boosted it...) I will agree with you with the A2 as best D09c alternative. Bluestars biggest weakness is the surface by visual look. It looks very fast worn out, but it's still good. There will be just a time where you have to change it due to too much loss of grippy surface.... but D09c has the same issue like every hybrid rubber^^

How is this video earlier out than stiga hybrid
@Ejb246010 ай бұрын
Amazing player 🎉 the ratings for the Tibhar rubbers seems a bit low. T05 has more control and better touch than MXP?!? Also, the spin on K3 is higher IMO than you have rated it. The issue is the durability of Tibhar rubbers isn’t as good.
