@Haggysack2k82 жыл бұрын
I'd prefer Morrowind over Ravenswood, regardless if one of them looks better. Morrowind has so much more to offer me and yes this includes nostalgic feelings. Another reason might be the Soundtrack. Another one the sheer complex design of the game itself where Ravenswood looks like it has only the combat part of Morrowind, which is "click left button / mouse button to attack; Hold left button for stronger power attack", so yes this is definately not Morrowind's strength.

There's a trend with the Chinese souls-likes: High budget, good animations and art, solid combat, something missing that would make it more than a tech demo. (Also usually either unfinished, abandoned, or both.) Edit: That last one kinda violates the High-budget, and solid combat requirements, but the rest still applies.

Unworthy is such a great game. I would highly recommend playing it without a guide because it would spoil an epic ending. Also I had countless moments where I would literally say “wait that worked?” during boss fights and just random moments throughout the game. That’s one of the things I love about it, the surprising amount of creativity And options you have for dealing with “impossible” situations. If I encountered a tough enemy combination or boss I would simply just switch up my tactics and weapons to deal with the situation. Speaking of bosses the boss fights are fun like very fun, every boss is unique and memorable so if you play through the game again you instantly remember what that boss coming up will be and how to dodge all it’s attacks allowing you to easily melt it since you beaten it before. I would highly recommend Unworthy it’s a very fun game and you will have a great experience like I did.

I had to play Juice World after seeing it in this video and I gotta say I'm a changed man, truly a masterpiece and it was legitimately fun and intriguing trying to find all the things you can do in the game. For anyone interested after you find the house with an attic/basement that has a hole leading to that weird underground area shown in the video there is another hole in one of the towers leading down to what I'm going to assume is "Hell" with a boss monster. After beating him leave through the portal and you will see your buddy from school in the graveyard who mentions the Snake teacher you ditched at the start of the game, at that point my Flight and Energy was upgraded pretty high so I started flying directly up (since we came to the graveyard from falling through the juice door) I wanted to see if I was able to return to the school which yes you can, the teacher is waiting for you with a sword and you end up having a battle with her. Trippy game would recommend. Pineapple is op.

For anyone interested in playing Neopets TDF, a few bits of advice from someone who played that game an absolute ton as a kid: Stock up on potions of Meerca speed. They are cheap and greatly reduce the time you'll spend running around. Don't just mash the circle button. You do a lot more damage by timing your attacks properly. Save at every chance you get. As a side note, I'm surprised that you never mentioned the huge amount of game-breaking bugs the game has. I know it is possible to not run into them but if you are lucky but the number of times they've made me quit and reload was frustrating as all Hell back in the day.

You should try some souls-like games made in Dreams on the PS4. It could be lots of fun finding some hidden gems that people made inside of the game. I have seen a few impressive (and not impressive) souls-like games on it.

Can’t believe you would have skipped over unworthy! Personally me I love pixel graphics and art style like unworthy and honestly that alone made me get the game hahaha I know to each their own though. Glad you liked it and hope it gets more attention after this video

There’s this game called “Children of Morta” that’s super good. It’s a top down pixel art dungeon crawler but I guess it could also be considered souls like? Either way, it’s worth a shot, very good game but can be monotonous at times.

Glad to see you covered Unworthy! Criminally underrated game. As everyone else is saying, the level design and boss design are surprisingly well done, but the real catch to me has always been the music. Sure, some songs just kind of fit into the "generic dark souls opera boss battle hullabaloo" genre, but others become much more memorable, especially through leitmotifs. In the fight against Narcoss the Anvil, blacksmithing noises are incorporated into the score, to say nothing of the "secret ending" mechanism that I'll leave spoiler-free...

Bolt of nostalgia when Neopets showed up, I forgot that game existed
@aquamarinerose54053 жыл бұрын
I'd argue/defend Neopets that it's really a case that there's a lot of good things underneath a clunky exterior. 1: The combat is surprisingly deep because you have a somewhat wide array of tools at your disposal (if you time your hits just right you get a normal 3 hit combo, if you mash you get a rapid jab combo or it homes in when you use the rapid on the wizard, you can Charge the attack to get a spin attack or a buster shot that will also have unique effects based on your Motes.. And the mote system is just an interesting setting piece) I mean, it's obviously no Dark Souls but I honestly just really like the concept of the mote system as.. a thing. 2: It definitely has the issue of you having to wander back and forth a lot (And the first chapter really just forces you to suffer through boring chores rather than anything interesting) but the world is surprisingly... I played this game a bit as a kid (never finished it, hope to someday), and I was honestly kinda scared by it. The darkness that covered everything and the complete lack of a fast-travel system really forced you to stew in an environment that felt hostile even if the game wasn't actually that difficult. And I feel like the fact that a NEOPETS Game managed to scare me as a kid (And I wouldn't say it still does, but I do still feel kinda creeped out by the memory if the dark fog on everything and the random battle music). Basically... I think that Neopets deserves a bit more credit in terms of being really interesting and unique, but it falls into the "Licensed Game Trap" that it's just generally unpolished. Honestly if neopets tried to make another darkest faerie type game I'd totally try it just to see what the hell they'd create next. Also-Also. PLEASE let Breath of the Wild 2 have a Neopets-Like ability to swap between playing Link or Zelda at any time.

It really captured my imagination as a kid, especially because even if was empty, I still really enjoyed the world, and it's one of the few games that captured that medieval setting I craved as a kid. Unfortunately it suffered a ton of glitches and being unfinished. Also, it scared the hell out of me as a kid; for being a kids' game it has so many areas and things that just freaked me out, including a ton of graveyards and dungeons. Worst of all was the brainwashed eye effect everyone kept after a certain point in the game, even when you were just talking to them like normal. But the aesthetics felt so clean, and like I said, not a lot of games put me in that idealistic "I wanna be a knight" mindset that Tormund had.

Some funny nostalgia for me here, I remember being a kid trying to find RPG games for my ipod. Ravensword was literally the best there was to offer back in 2013. The game is bad, but as a kid who just wanted a way to play some rpg's I actually had a pretty good time. That being said I will never play that shit again lol
