Most of the user generated content I have seen has been Mario Maker maps, so it's really interesting how different the ethos for what makes a "good" map/level is. Trackmania seems to really emphasize how driving the track feels versus how hard it is to complete or how cool it looks.

I just started playing about a week ago and forked over the 20 bucks for access. So far I'm just trying to get all the ATs and am learning so much already about car control. This could be subject to change but I think I like wood the best. The grip and smooth steering feels so rewarding when you drive a good line fast. Ice on the other hand is very difficult and not intuitive. Been practicing on Wirts ice practice maps.

I originally created it to play around with the editor and the scenery, but I'm too bad of a driver to have fun driving my own map because I only make it around the first 5 corners without crashing in 1 out of 10 trials. I know it can be done because my friends tried my start and had a success rate of 8/10 when they first tried it, but for me it's really hard. But maybe I need to complete it.

It depends! But usually in Trackmania if you cannot make a corner with full acceleration, it is best to drift. For long, gentle curves, it might be best to release the accelerator if you can't make the turn. On sharp, shorter turns, drifting is far superior.

Your example also doesn’t make sense. The opinion that something exists is not the same as the thing itself.
