Whenever you summon an echo, one of the triangle's of Tri's crest is "spent". Some echoes take up two triangles, if you look at the UI closely. On some portions of footage, you can see Tri with four triangles on their crest, so it's certain that this can be upgraded.

I was actually exhibiting at PAX West, so I made sure that Day 1, I went in extra early, before Media Hour and went straight to Nintendo to play this. I have to say, it honestly blew me away. When the game was first announced, I definitely had my hesitations, due to the re-use of the art style, and Zelda seemingly not having a "normal" way of attacking. I thought that the Echoes were cool, but was bummed thinking that I'd just have to watch enemies I summon fight for me or something; but then.... I played it and, it honestly put all of my worries to rest. Everything felt SO smooth. Hell, even attacking enemies with rocks was somehow fun. That opening escape sequence was great because I had the guy from Nintendo telling me I was apparently doing things that the employees hadn't even tried (which we can blame on the fact that professionally, I'm a QA Lead so I tend to do weird obscure stuff while playing on accident haha). I was initially worried that we'd just be getting ALTTP map for a third time, but again, everything felt fresh and unique. That outside area, and small village after the initial escape certainly FELT new to me, and not like we were just retreading old ground. I could probably gush about this game forever now. Nothing feels better than when you have your reservations about a game only for the game to absolutely crush them and show you how awesome it truly is.

I got to play the demo and I have very similar thoughts!! A lot of what I noticed too was visuals especially since it's using the Link's Awakening style. I feel like in a lot of ways, this game feels so much more visually stunning than Link's Awakening but in very subtle ways. But notably I had to pause my demo speedrunning for a second in the garden area after the guards because wow that little space alone was just gorgeous. I don't remember even a single area in Link's Awakening looking so nice and this is the first 10 minutes!! I was also worried about the Echo Menu Management. My hope is that a lot of puzzles that require echoes will require some TYPE of echo instead of very particular ones. Like even in the demo, they'd give you a certain echo to use for progress but you could probably make another one work. And maybe later some puzzles just need any "Heavy" echo or "Tall" or "Breakable" echo and so on to solve the puzzle. So if there's truly no additional echo management tools, I hope the flexibility on the echoes that'll do the job for the curated challenges to be enough for us to quickly flick down the list a couple spaces and find something that'll work at least
@HarmonicWave3 ай бұрын
That's not surprising since Link's Awakening on Switch was a 1 to 1 remake of a Gameboy game, so they had to make everything match and couldn't get too much more creative with sizes and spaces. This one is designed from scratch as a totally new adventure, just using the same basic engine and graphical style, but with a lot more creativity.

@@Incompetent_Hero I never said it wasn’t trailer footage? I was just pointing out that some of the trailer footage used in his own video, answers one of his questions from playing the demo.

I am so excited for this game. It releases the day after my birthday!

I am playing this game now and it is so dang good. It kind of reminds of SUper Mario RPG with the jumping and 2d world with vertical levels to it.

Can’t wait for the demo to be made publicly available several months after the game’s release.

Zelda II was a 2D game that allowed arbitrary jumping. Why does everyone always forget that one?

been playing it for a few days because I got sick and it got leaked, and I can confirm it's really good. Idk if it's as good as a link between worlds (my personal favorite 2d zelda) but it's promising. I'm currently a bit over half way through the story as of writing this.

I actually do like the look of this. It reminds me of my favorite game in RPG Maker, which might just be the structural change that Zelda needed for me.

I found the scrolling fine. You can also just open the regular menu with +.

I love the game! It is so much fun and very refreshing. Exactly what I had hoped for!

I like how if you use sponsorblock (sorry Arlo) he just jumps on screen, shouts "Beef" and jumps off 😂

I’m surprised Arlo hasn’t made the connection with Pikmin yet. The cursor lock-on to guide your echoes is a bit similar to guiding your Pikmin around.

I would say Minish Cap treated itself like a 3D Zelda in terms of story and depth

the pokemon metaphor for the fights made the game better for me tbh
