1986 Ferrari 328 GTB #65529
Ask someone to draw a sports car, and this is the shape you will usually get. The classic styling of the Ferrari 328 GTB has a timeless elegance that few cars from any marque can match, and in this later guise, it has the mechanical finesse to back it up too.
A development of the earlier 308 range, the 328 is part of a long line of mid-engined, V8 powered sports cars that defined Ferrari throughout the 70s and 80s. The Pininfarina design with its flowing curves and pop-up headlights stands out against the silhouettes we are used to today
Introduced in 1985, there were 7,412 328s produced by 1989, when the car was replaced by the 348. Two body options were available, the GTS with its removable targa roof, and the GTB, with its fixed roof. Of that number, 6,068 were the GTS variant, making the GTB, with just 1,344 examples, the much rarer car.
The engine is a 3.2L transverse mounted V8, a development of the Ferrari Dino engine that began as a V6 back in 1959. By this point, the engine was running 4 valves per cylinder and used a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system for power and reliable running. Here it produces 270 bhp, and when new this was enough to give the manual, 5-speed 328 a top speed of around 160 mph, and a 0-60 mph sprint of 5.5 seconds.
This particular example of the 328 GTB was registered in 1986, one of only 6 GTBs delivered with its Nero Black paintwork and Black leather interior color scheme that year, and as the images show, it looks absolutely stunning.
That bold choice of color is enhanced by beautifully preserved 16” silver wheels and the beautiful Scuderia shields on each fender. Inside, and Alpine CD player, air conditioning and electric windows give a taste of modern convenience, while the beautiful black leather is blemish free. Simple yet robust, the 328 is regarded as the most usable Ferrari classic, and this interior proves the point nicely
Having covered just 24,000 miles, the car is in wonderful condition, and with a new fuel pump in 2017, battery in 2019. It also enjoyed a full service in December 2021 that included timing belts, tensioner bearings, and drive belts, along with a coolant flush and an oil change, with the car covering less than a 1000 miles since. It passed the California emissions test in March 2022 and is now ready for a new challenge.
A clean Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration activity in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and California, with entries as early as 1992. It looks every inch the well cared for example of this increasingly rare and desirable car it is.
With its stunning Nero paint and beautiful leather interior, this isn’t just a great example of the 328 GTB, it’s a 328 GTB that stands out as something different. If you want something a little different while enjoying the fantastic driving and ownership experience only these amazing 80’s Ferraris bring, this fabulous 328 GTB is your ticket to new adventures.

Well I'm sure the labour's cost is where they hit you hard. I'm sure the belts don't cost that much.

@@daryl9799 Well, of course. But let's say $5,500 after parts for eight hours of work... that's a heck of a labor rate. I paid about $2500 for my NSX's major, which is basically. the same work, but if anything it is harder to access some things on that car.

@robertbcope Well most businesses or Ferrari dealers look at it as if you can afford a Ferrari you can afford to pay the rates. I do paintless dent repair and if I work on a exotic car the price is higher more risk involved working on one.

I remember not soo many years back when you could buy a 308 qv for 35k and a Testerrossa for 50k. Those days are long long gone........

I've seen several 308/328s including one painted in gold which was somewhat rare. These had that classic Ferrari look. I wasn't all that fond of the styling of the 348. I thought the 355 was much better because it looked like more of a natural progression to the 328. These you can work on with simple tools like basic screwdrivers and a socket set. That's quickly becoming a lost art in the automotive world.

Yeah, that looks amazing, in fact almost any Ferrari looks amazing in Black on Black, but this 328 is superb, I haven't driven a 328 but have driven a few 308's they are the coolest cars!!..... Early pre-1992 348's had the electrical issues, post 1992 they changed quite a few things, like the alternator (Nippon Denso unit replaces the AC Delco) and AC system to Nippon Denso also, along with a few other things. I have had my 348GTB for 5 years and I have only had a few dodgy relays that I had to replace, no other electrical issues..... later post '92 348's can be quite reliable electrically and/or otherwise.

it is a shame so many 308/328s are GTI as the GTB is a much better drivers car (and the roof does not leak)

100% agree with you! Particularly as open top cars age, what was once decent chassis rigidity can become quite flexy and absolutely ruin the handling and overall feel of the car, where as a closed roof car remains much truer to its original stiff structure
