In the next version they will check the CPU temperatures to see if they match the cryo cooling. If CPU temperatures don't go down when they turn it on they will reverse polarity on the peltier and melt the CPU 😜

To be fair, the cryo cooler looks pretty cool. Intel should swallow their pride and make it compatible with AMD. And they need to be quick about it because no doubt Artic will be looking at it with interest.

There's really no need for permanent usb connection. Calculating the dew point and controlling the TEC is an easy task doable in the microcontroller so I'd bet there are only simple control commands over the usb. It should be relatively easy to reverse the protocol and re-implement simple control app. It should even be possible to patch the firmware to run in cryo mode without USB by default.

Just wanted to thank you for this video, your acrylic brackets provided the idea/inspiration for me to design and 3D-print (with solid infill!) some similar parts that allowed me to adapt my ancient Apogee GTZ waterblock with an LGA1366 bracket to my new Ryzen 5900x processor and AM4 socket. Worked flawlessly, and the old block seems to work reasonably well on the new chip and saved me the cost of a new CPU block.

@@chrischen6664 an older i7, i hated how useless and expensive DDR4 systems were so i upgraded a i5 4430 system i got for free with a cheap, used i7 4790k, easily pushes to 4,8GHz allcore and with 2666MHZ CL10 Ram OC its still a beast. All i wanted was NOT support AMD, Intel or Nvidia. I ended up with new a GTX 1000 card anyways, but at least i didnt support the DDR4 marketing gag and none of the CPU sellers like Intel or AMD (and yes, both doesnt make CPUs itself anymore, all they are doing is researching, they only make money anymore without any interests in the customers anymore. running cooler? even at 4,8GHz my old i7 is pretty cool, far from dangerous temps... ofc finally AMD beat Intels in gaming.... after how many years? 5? 7? 8 years? but since i mainly play in 1440p 165Hz, the 4790k still push fps nice, im fine with it, no sense in paying like 500$+ for a new platform for +30% better 0,1% lows If i get MUCH better 0,1%lows and also significantly better avg fps, i will upgrade my CPU/MoBo, but since this happened not yet (with a damn 7 years old CPU!), i wait for at least Ryzen 6000, Intel 12/13th gen, or even DDR5 systems (which was the main goal anyways with my "last gen" DDR3 system).

Got the 4790k used for 130€ on ebay, was risky since there was no picture of the CPU or box and the seller was a new seller with barely sells, not to mention the weak description he had in the auction. Most 4790ks from "trusted" sellers got away for at least 200€, but i risked a bit and got extreme gaming performance CHEAP AF in beginning 2017 already. I would have probably even bought a used 4790k for 250€ instead of paying the same as brand new, only to support others than Intel. And stand 2020 is: The 4790k isnt the bottleneck in my PC, aslong im sticking to 1440p and easily maxxing out the GTX 1070 with high settings. Im even planning to buy a RTX 3080 Ti as soon they are aviable in Jan-Feb. 2021, again once more overpriced computer stuff, but i hope again for at least 4, better 5 years plus i have enough graphics power, so only the CPU need an upgrade in 1-3 years. I mean im even fine with my 1070, but i want to use the full potencial of my OLED TV with HDMI 2.1. Damn marketing made me like 4K gaming (especially now in 120Hz modes!!!!), 6 months ago i always said 4K is useless and a marketing gag, now i would love to play tactical shooters where superior distance drawing is a nice advantage with 4K120Hz Gsync.... A native 1440p OLED TV/screen would have solved all problems, but sadly 1440p on 4K OLED TVs doesnt look quiet as sharp as native 1440p so i would love to unlock nice gaming capabilities at the native TV resolution even if 4K isnt any advantage for the specific game.

It is easy enough to do. Any single chip micro would handle the very limited processing needed. Just need a temperature and humidity sensor and a power FET output stage. Use something like a Threadripper block on top of the TEC but would need to machine a piece of copper underneath. I certainly wouldn't mount the controller on top of the CPU. I'd like to know performance gains on a normal binned 5.1GHz 10900K first though to see if it is worth it! 200W TEC module is 33GBP from Farnell.

@@BRUXXUS The 200W TEC module I found uses 24V so would need an external power unit. I'll try to find a 12V one. Up to 300W is possible with 48V ones but very expensive. I considered this 6 years ago for my 3930K OC which draws 275W (about the same as my 10900K on Prime95 max heat 🙂).

@@HapPawhere I had to look up what that was. It is the same idea on a much lower heat transfer scale and even if you replaced the fan by a waterblock it is just too weak to handle a non-phone CPU. Better to stick to a good fan cooler. I used a Noctua UH-12A to get a 9900K to 4.9Ghz at 220W max on Prime95 maximum heat test. The 140mm version might be better still.

Hey great content, love the video! I would suggest investing in a capturing card, so that you can get better quality on the recordings by capturing directly the signal out from the GPU (not sure if it is actually possible, never tried, but if it is it would work) and also adding the audio commentary in post production, so you can test and record once and reuse for both german and English version.

@@SaturnusDK Not really. The cores on the 5950X are the fastest in the entire line up. The numbers would be inflated if he did that. A true 5600X will have much lower frequencies.

Outstanding review..!! Excellent Do you Know I had the only refrigerator plate ran at 1C and thermal protectors connectors to the fan! The heat sink was insanely scorching hot but CPU Super cool by refrigerator plate! On my 266Mhz PC 66mhz ram Over clocked to 366mhz and 133mhz ram 2 G It cost me 5000 dollars I bought the first Burner ever sold in Canada!! Back then .. had it imported. $1000 dollars just for that burner ..it was one you whole piece shoved in and made a perfect image copy and you pulled it out and no matter what you burned is was a perfect reflection copy! This I bought custom made in the early 90's. Best times of new tech !! The eventually got a Matrox Mystix 2meg plus 2 more megs added to make it 4 megs! And 2 Voodoo2's !! This cost me over another Thousand $300 x 2 Voodoo's and Matrox $300 plus $100 for 2 megs added.. Crazy huge Price tags but it gave me a world of fun.. It was the best PC ever Windows + dos then 95 and then 98 I upgraded big time! Love your Video excellent thanks.. things have come a long way but the past they were smarter but never continued such a great product and cooler..
