Beautiful tree that pairs nicely with the cherry. Will be quite the spring show!

The tree is gorgeous! I like how you've planned the yard for ten plus years into the future. Most don't think that far ahead.

I really do try to plan ahead. I know I still have stuff to live around as things grow, but I always keep the future in mind!

A beautiful upgrade. I would have done the same. You made the right decision.

Lichens growing on a tree isn't an indication of an unhealthy tree. They are merely epiphytic and don't cause any harm. They're usually an indication of 'good' (better) air quality. Kuddos with the upgrade man.
@JoshuasGarden Жыл бұрын
That makes sense, I only made that comment because we talked about lichens in my landscape plants class, and sometimes they can be an indicator of an unhealthy tree. But you’re absolutely right, they cause no harm! And thank you, I’m very excited about the new tree!

Awww, your excitement is palpable!! EXCELLENT redbud choice! I had not heard of that one! And the way you're planning the Kwanza Cherry and that Redbud to meet... oh that will be beautiful! And I'm so glad you saved a couple of the bigger parts of the birch trunk for winter decorating - I was thinking that as you were cutting it up, that you could use them as part of a beautiful winter container arrangement for your front steps? We appreciate you and your videos as well. God bless you and all of your endeavors!

Hi ! I love redbuds and this one is really nice. Too bad I can't seem to find one not too large to fit in my garden (I don't really like how the weeping ones look like with their leaves). Gonna look to see if you have a more recent video where I can see yours.

It’s ok to not be happy with a plant and pull it out. We have planted 2 dogwoods in the same spot. First one died off almost completely within a year. The 2nd one we have had for 2 years and it’s struggling. It has lichen and the top branches are dead that I have not dealt with. Also it’s putting out suckers. I think it’s the location, as dogwoods like to be on the edge of the woods. It’s not the edge of the woods where planted. But the location could be a dead zone. I have learned over the years that sometimes there are areas in your yard that for whatever reason, nothing will grow, or grow well. I hope that is not the case for your new tree and it takes off.

Your new tree is sooooo pretty - Really love the colors! I’m a huge fan of the Werner redbuds, I have Merlot and ruby falls. I read some of your viewers questioning the cultivar - that’d a be funny surprise, I’ve had mislabelled plants - it happens!! I have noticed with the Werner redbud trees there’s a LOT of variability of traits - which is part of their charm I think. For instance some flamethrowers are big weepers, some are not. Just subscribed to your channel, great content and I look to forward to updates 😊

The damage looks like the birch leaf spot or leaf miner, which both attack stressed cold climate birch trees. River birch - being native down to northern Florida - is more resilient to heat and pathogens, although it is susceptible to chlorosis in alkaline soils. The redbud tolerates alkaline soil, is native, and it already looks great!

I believe this is the 'flamethrower' version, not the one thats one the tag. Could that be right?
@JoshuasGarden Жыл бұрын
It looks like a flamethrower type, but this is just the fall foliage that redbuds as a whole tend to take on. I did notice that these leaves had remnants of the white variegation from the Carolina sweetheart from the summer
@JoshuasGarden Жыл бұрын
I totally get your thinking though, because the leaves totally change from summer to fall. I guess we will know for sure next year! 😂
@casperhendriks2607 Жыл бұрын
I'm fairly certain that is the flamethrower, because it looks exactly the same as the one I have in my garden. However, we will see what the foliage will be next year! :) nonetheless, both are great species. Enjoy!
@JoshuasGarden Жыл бұрын
@casperhendriks2607 thanks! And even if it happens to be a flamethrower, I definitely wouldn’t be mad 😅
