@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
it really does not matter how you do it, as long as you break it into smaller parts through a simple sort, so the amount of times you handing each book id diminished overall.

I discovered your channels a few days ago and have been hooked. If I lived in NY I'd come take those JLE's off your hands for a fair price in a heartbeat. Also, you and I share a deep love for the Bronze Age. I think we're about the same age, so Bronze comics are the first comics we ever became aware of. That alone makes 'em special, but the art and stories are so good and unique to that era, which is also very special to guys our age. Anyway I love your content and look forward to your future uploads.

I started sorting everything I buy like this as soon as I get it and it really has sped up the process so much so I wanted to share. Yeah, I had to double check values after someone said I lowballed and tons of this stuff does not sell on ebay or might sell $2 for a lot of 5 or $5 for a lot of 10 etc. I just have to take into account the labor cost when buying a collection like this. If it will take 20-30 hours to make $200-$300 on a collection I just cant spend that much since it wont even cover the cost of labor etc.
@jayfrancis87652 жыл бұрын
The Marvel universe Handbook 17 you put in there is Jim Lee's first Marvel interior... predating Alpha Flight 51... maybe undervalued?
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын

You more than doubled your money. Loved that Avengers 337 cover. Sersi should have worn that costume in the movie🤤
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
You have to add in the cost of bags and boards and labor costs when calculating returns. So I might more the double my money but only make $10 an hour doing so, aka not a huge return. That would have been a hot outfit haha

I been watching your channel for a few years now it's a good learning tool for collectors , my question is do graphic novels and omnibus collection have any value to them
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
Some graphic novels and omnibus go out of print and do gain value. But there is a limit to that value since in most cases they are reprints of single issues. For the most part though they stay in print so for the most part they dont go up in value etc. There are some exceptions like Killing Joke 1st print or The New Mutants graphic novel with their first appearance.
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
At the end of the day I tend to buy new graphic novels and omnibus if its something I want to read, I prefer that format. And then not so much worry about resell value, I get my value out of them by actually enjoying them etc. Kinda like buying a movie ticket. I just see what I spend on them as a sunk cost. And then all other cases I just buy them if its a great deal etc.

@jesselynch19282 жыл бұрын
Great content. I know you know this but it’s best to get all the comics on top of the table if you can. People will go under the table for action figures but not always comic books as it takes longer to go through a comic book box. I do like that you do not have the boxes of comics jammed packed. That is something dealers do and people will mostly skip those totally full boxes
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is why I try to get the best selling issues on the top, everything else is overstock or cheaper tiles underneath. But yeah I like to keep at least a fist width of space in front of the boxes so you can go through the box, when its over stuffed its just not fun to dig.

@robertt93422 жыл бұрын
My sorting methods is a multi round method, Similar to yours, but I will use piles on a table, so I am glad I am not the only one that does this. I will separate any standouts as I go. 1) Publisher (DC/Marvel/Other) 2) Alphabetical range (A-E/F-J/etc) (if there is a dominate title then they get separated out here) 3) By title 4) by issue
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good method. As long as its pretty simple and quick each round you will sort way faster.

They don’t have much value, but LEGION 89-94, and all those Giffen era Justice League comics, are great reads. The Legion 89 stuff has never been collected, but all 70 issues can be found cheap. Isn’t that Superman Terminator book worth around $10? I’m not sure, but I would be surprised to see it in a dollar bin. The Superman Gen 13 is probably a $4-5. There’s J. Scott Campbell covers in that series that are worth more, probably worth checking
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
I had to check both those mashup books, the superman terminator book was indeed a $10 book and the gen 13 superman one was a $15 book. I ended up giving him more money yesterday for those two books when he came in with more comics yesterday.

@@pop-comics Awesome, I’m glad to hear it! I always keep my eyes out for unusual Gen 13 covers. JSC is popular and prolific. I’ve found quite a few valuable comics, with covers by him, in dollar bins, over time. Gen 13 books have such a vast value range, like from zero to a hundred dollars. It seems like people pass up rare issues, thinking they’re just another overprinted 90s comic(which many of them are lol)

From my experience any action comics or Superman that aren't keys that are 1989 to 97 are worth * so I'd make a list of the keys to watch for the issue numbers and the rest make a pile and list them as a lot or dump in a dollar box.
