Put a 2×4in the gap for added protection for the chickens

You could attach a 2 by 4 to each side with enough hanging on both sides to create handles to lift easier and close some of the gap...

Justin you and your family are such an inspiration to us all. Your breaking trail and showing Americans that we can indeed be self sufficient.

Can’t you just lay a board across one long edge to keep out predators?

So I'm still thinking there's a way to have rabbit cages over the beds on a track of some sort, so you can pull them from one end of the bed to the other. Then the rabbits can provide nutrients to the garden beds and eventually, nutrients for the family.

Genius idea bro. Nice! I march my tractor down the rows of my back to eden garden letting the chickens till as they go.

If you are worried about predators, put a couple of lengths of wood down the sides of the chicken shack and tie them on at the base, the predators shouldn’t be able to get in.

I'd lay a 2x4 over that gap. Better safe than sorry. Lost some future hens to a skunk last summer.
