Add that spacer back in between the carb and the head and see if you see some more gains. I may just have to order one of these, seems like its money well spent and might help me get that gain I need to hit my goal of 60mph. Another great video, thanks again.

You should do a test with the intake runner to see if you get a better 0-30 timer. A longer intake runner usually means you get better bottom end torque and that should give you a quicker start. See if you can port match it with the head and carb.

Port it well. RBG got 2 hp at full song with stock ported hemi head... and springs, rockers, .265? cam. dont go tooo wild with porting the area between the spring perch and the outer wall is thin 4mm? so if get too wild with porting will break thru. 2 part epoxy can fix that. no matter what it wont/cant flow more than the intake valve hole 25mm on 27mm intake valve head... minus 5mm valve stem... x .85 (85% MAX theoretical port flow), but a nice smoother bigger flow path is nice to have... at full song. jetting is important too. that was a nice plug. i wish he wud tell us what jet he has in that carb... at 3700 ft in desert hot hot hot dry air. your elevation/humidity may differ

I'd be curious seeing a comparison between the carb mounted directly like that and with the extended intake tube. I would imagine it affects you torque level quite a bit by removing the extension. Cool project brother.

Thank you for the info! I just ordered one for myself! I'm just wondering if you are running a shorter rod on this bottom end or stock length? I have a 212 hemi block and bottom end with a stock length rod and I'm wondering with this shred head if I need more head gasket than. 010 to get .040 piston to head clearance? I can't tell if the piston is at TDC in the video or not

@johnsmith-zd5he5 ай бұрын
Update info for those into this! I just put this head on my tilly 212 265 banzai cam, big header pipe, billet rod flywheel build. If you use champion X rockers you will need to clearance the valve cover otherwise when you bolt it down it will hold your valves open just enough to where it wont start lol. But i put my vm22 carb back on and it ran about the same as with the stock head and small header pipe. I then installed a nibbi 24mm and wow!!!! Whole different animal all the way from idle to god knows when it will stop revving hahahha!! Massive improvement, but it does need a bigger carb than a vm22 for the gains. And who knows maybe a 26mm or 28mm would make more? I live at an elevation of around 1000 feet and by the time i was dialed in i had a 130 main jet, stock 38 primary jet, and the needle adjusted almost all the way up to get the hesitation out of it. Feels like going from a small block to a bigblock for sure!! Anyways hope this helps folks out there.!

now... port the head ... some and try it again. not a massive hog out but something a normal person cld do with ebay grinder in an hour or 2. polish exhaust if want to. the bearded gentleman, Not Fidel, got 2 hp at full song with stock ported hemi head on his dyno at 7700 rpm; where he had JB weld failure from grinding the roof of the head too thin. the head is kinda thin tween the roof of the port and the well next to spring perch... the "well" tween spring perch and side casing of the head ~4mm? some fill that area with epoxy? the head would have to be CLEAN, CLEAN (Brake) cleaned (NEW?) head clean for the epoxy to hold. even new head probably has machining oil coating of it from drilling/tapping/milling of the head at factory... so ... brake cleaner to clean it out of machining oil before epoxy the "well" tween spring perch and outer wall of cyl head? nice vid we love to see them. keep em coming.

port the stock head with $20 fleabay WEN grinder. much cheaper. RBG got 2 HP at full song, with stock hemi head with nice port job alone.... other mods were in place and tested alone. the 1.2 rockers only gave .5 HP... hardly worth it for $140. the 24MM flat slide was $140... it got some gains but again hardly worth the expense. fleabay has 24mm carb for $25 it comes with 2 main and 2 idle jets... if u can get the TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT fuel bowl screws off... i cld not get them off with Propane torch and oil ???? WOW THAT IS TOOOOO TIGHT, for the fuel bowl. even vise grips on the screws didnt budge them. the WOT power with 24mm flat slide vs 22mm round slide wasnt that much as i recall... certainly not worth $140.... to me.

@@johnsmith-zd5he I love both ! They have the best sounding idle! I would say the hot 265 is my favorite 265 cam just for the sound at ldle and overall performance. The 285 is awesome too.
