It's a weird thing isn't it? You thank us, but I also feel like thanks should be offered to you as well, man. You are in a ton of households, and we build a sort of bond with you through your channel. You get us through some of our own tough times, too. Without ever meeting most of us, we call you friend, because we love who you present to be and what you do... right in our homes. You and I have so many near misses, my best friend has played with a good friend of yours (20 Watt Tombstone and Tyler Bryant). I talk a lot about you, your music, and your videos with MY friends that are musicians... kind of a virtual family thing going on. Anyway, dude, just thank YOU for taking us along on the rides you take, thank you for all the tunes you've shared... Hell, who knows, one day maybe our paths will cross (maybe I book you and your band for a show one day) Happy New Year Rhett... you are loved and appreciated from afar dude.

Happy New Year dude! I think that the Live to Tape will be great. I’ve actually been tossing around the idea of creating an all analog recording studio for awhile. That Tascam 388 is a nice piece, Yamaha made some great stuff from that same era as well. Cheers!🎉

"Live To Tape" is, in my opinion the best idea you've had for a series of videos. Recording a band live in the studio is an honest representation of where the players are at. I usually prefer the results over a multi-tracked recording where players have taken several tries or comped together a part from several different takes. So many of my favourite recordings have been recorded live in the studio. The communication between the musicians can't be beat! Looking forward to your "Live To Tape" series!!! Happy New Year

Live-to-tape. The way we all used to do it when us Boomers were the younger generation. I'm old now but still have a Tascam 4-track I mess with once in a while just to hear what I sound like to others ("dude, that sucks") or to play back later for ideas about possible songs or sounds or just improving my techniques. And of course, old gear is just cool and fun. Side note for trivia and nostalgia buffs: bitd Eddie reportedly created some of his best solos and riffs just noodling or warming up in the studio and when the engineer or a bandmate would say "that was cool, do that again," Eddie would say "do what?" because it was literally just something he'd pulled out of his ass in the moment (his words) and he didn't remember how it went because it was total in-the-flow improv. So the engineer learned to always have tape rolling whenever the band was in the studio, even when they weren't tracking yet. According to Eddie, some of their best stuff originated that way.

"Start where you are with what you have" Guess this was a wake up call for me to quit procrastinating get a band together and record this material I've written over the last 5 or so years. I have some mics and a great interface. I cant track a full band in one pass but I could get started. I've put off and put off getting started for lack of this or lack of that. I've spent way too much time online making wish list for gear and reviewing gear that is not in the budget. Im far from being able to support myself playing or producing music but Im never going to be able to if I dont start somewhere. Thanks for the kick in the ass Rhett I sure needed it. Big ups for being transparent 🙌🏼 As a neurodivergent myself, i know burnout all too well, and also how hard it can be to get through. For the past three years i've had this belief that if i could just get rid of my 9-5 and do music full time, then periods of burnout would be behind me. This video just proves that no matter how awesome the job/life may be, you still have to lookout for yourself, or else it will get the best of you, and in the end you will hate the thing you used to love because you forced yourself to continue. Thanks for the reminder, and thank you for showing another side of life as a creative professional. Happy to see that you're dealing with it in a healthy manner. Happy new year!

Looking forward to what's coming. In my own world, I ended up coming back home for work. Plus side is I'm closer to my parents, now in their 70s, and my sister. The big bonus has been reconnecting with friends and former bandmates and being invited (begged?) to come and play bass on a few different recording projects. Resurrecting, rewriting, writing, and recording old and new material. It's been a good few months, and much needed. It feels good to play music with good friends, making the music we want to hear. Happy New Year, all y'all 🙏🏻🤍🤘

I totally support this concept of you recording live. Our church has had a Praise Band for about 23 years and in the last 3 years we've been recording videos of services that currently get watched by thousands. We are truly amateur but we try our best. Yes mistakes are made, and we laugh it off and come back every week and do it again. I've been told by congregation people they don't even notice most mistakes, and in truth I think it takes a musician to catch most of them. We are always our own hardest critics. Rock on Rhett!

Hey Rhett, love your channel! So cool that you got an old school reel to reel machine and are making live tapes, something special about Analog that is not there in Digital! Definitely self-care is a must, it appears you have been burning the candle at both ends. I would suggest getting enough sleep and keep a normal sleep cycle when you are not on the road playing late night. Good food, plenty of good water, exercise, stretch, do exercise that you like, get a massage or bodywork and leave the guitar/studio and the world behind for a least an hour, 90 minutes even better! Great things coming in your world in 2024. Thank you for the suggestion of moving forward with projects that we have been putting off. This year is the year. Right on man! 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠✌❤🙏🙏🙏🙂🙂🙂

I love analog recording. Yes, the new digital DAW's like Reaper, Logic, Pro Tools, etc. are the standard, but there's something special about live recording to tape. With limited tracks available it forces you to play your instrument a certain way. The take is the take, get it right. I have an old Tascam Portastudio 488 with an 8 track cassette recorder. No idea how to use it, I bought it at an estate sale and need help. Hopefully your new series will give me not only the enthusiasm but the knowledge of tape recording. Bravo sir
