It takes at least two yrs to have a business like that really kicks off,it takes about 1 yr for a chicken to really mature. So many many bags of baby chicken feed,many many bags of regular chicken feed,etc,etc,etc,etc.but in the end when the whole flock starts giving you over 200 eggs a week,then it's payback time for all the effort.

I'd like to introduce myself! My name is Jamie and my wife's name is Nicola. We are beginning the homesteading journey. I am in the EXACT situation that you are in. I know exactly how you feel and that yearning and ache in your heart and the passion to be at home and build a channel. I'm pumped for you! I found your channel by searching Bresse chickens. I'm in Canada so we call them Canadian Bresse. I have my first clutch in the incubator. They will be hating this coming Sunday April 21. Best of luck to you! I just subscribed so am looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Yay! I quit my job last summer to sell pure bred, registered savannah cats. It’s been a rough year with people stressed about the economy, so we haven’t sold them for as much as we used to, but I’m still able to make enough to stay home and my husband still works his day job that he loves. We don’t have kids, so it’s almost like retirement!!! Lanna’s Savannahs is my day job, now. You are going to LOVE being home!!!!!!

You might consider selling 10 chicks at a time instead of the 25. Some people would buy 10 but can’t use the full 25
@The.Recreational.Homestead Жыл бұрын
Totally get what you’re saying and where you’re coming from. As a small hatchery that’s just starting out orders of 25 has been a good starting point for us… as far as being able to keep track of & fulfill orders. Fulfilling multiple orders of multiple quantities was a very overwhelming concept when we decided to start selling American Bresse chicks. Currently, we don’t have an issue selling out of boxes of 25. However, we do realize that people may want smaller quantities. As we continue to grow we would like offer smaller quantities in the future. We chose boxes of 25 because it allows us to safely ship chicks year round. The amount of body heat that a box of 25 chicks produces keeps them at a safe temperature during transit.
@chickenstead6586 Жыл бұрын
@@The.Recreational.Homestead That makes a lot of sense. When your business booms, as I pray it will, maybe you can offer fewer chicks. I am very impressed with your ethics and hard work so I would buy a smaller amount to diversify my genetics. Good luck.

Just came across your video. I want you to know that the decision you made to quit your “9-5” is a great decision. Last year in January I gave up my position as a director of operations for a small company to work for myself. I’ve been able to be home more, and spend more time with the kiddos and family. Best decision I have made. Don’t get down when the times are rough, and money isn’t right. As long as you have enough to keep a roof over your head, food on the table, and the electric on in your house. You’re good. The good times are great, and the bad times can get rough, but don’t keep yourself up at night over the stressful times. They will get better. You’ll have the drive to make it work. Best of luck to you and your future endeavors!
